Chapter 133: Chapter 133

"Oh, right!" Sebastian got up and walked to the CEO’s desk. He took a document under the table and then put it on the coffee table in front of Winter. "This is all the evidence of her transaction with the police department. I was about to send this to court after she sent another monthly bribe to the police, but it seems that she had to send more yesterday to cover up her involvement in the attempted murder by Cindy a few days ago.

Winter picked up the document and started reading. She was surprised by the beginning of the transaction, which was seven years ago.

It seemed that her grip on the police department was strong, and Winter began to doubt if Sebastian’s plan would work.

"Do you think presenting this to the court will be enough to prosecute her? She seems to be far more dangerous than what I expected," Winter said. "We only have one chance to take her down, or else someone like your mother would be able to escape easily."

"I’ve been preparing everything ever since I was reborn with you. Trust me, Winter. I will fix everything, and hopefully, we can start anew," Sebastian assured. He smiled at her, but Winter didn’t smile back or respond.

All she did was stare back at him before muttering, "Get everything done first, then maybe we can talk about it."

"Got it," Sebastian couldn’t help but smile as he imagined a good life with Winter. Now that he had nothing to hide from Winter, he felt free, and it made him want to work harder to gain her approval.

"So, how’s the project with Lucien LeBlanc? Did he say something?"

"Hm, no, not really. He is cordial with me, and only contacted me for work matters," Sebastian replied. His smile faded once he remembered one question from him. "He asked me if you are free to have dinner with him, and I said no."

Winter chuckled, "Oh well, it’s not like I want to do it anyway. I’m not interested in anyone right now."

"Including me?"

"Yes, including you. But it could change, who knows what the future holds,"

Winter smiled. "When are you going to bring this to court?"

"I’ve been in contact with the best prosecutor in New York, and this case should come to court in a week. You can watch it in court if you want."

"Oh, for sure, I would love to watch it. I want to make sure that she won’t be a problem anymore. We both know how much of a pain in the ass she was, right?"

**

Winter stayed in her penthouse after making sure that Sebastian would report her mother to the court, and it didn’t take long for Winter to see the news on the internet about a huge corruption and bribery case from the Police department, and it was directly connected to Camilla’s case with Cindy and all the bribery she did for the past couple of years.

Thus, Winter prepared herself to come for the trial with Sebastian.

She wore her usual black dress, and as she opened the door, she was greeted by Sebastian who already stood at the door wearing a black suit.

"You look dapper today. Don’t you know that your mother will be jailed soon?" Winter commented sarcastically. "And what’s with that big smile? This is not a date. It’s a court trial."

"I know," Sebastian replied, but he was still smiling. "But I can’t help it. After all, we can finally walk side by side again. This is one of my bucket lists, you know."

"Bucket list? And what’s the other thing you have in mind?"

"Simple stuff, like walking in the park together, having dinner together, and going on a holiday together."

Winter’s lips curled up as Sebastian’s smile was contagious. She found his bucket list to be funnily innocent, but she quickly fixed her expression, as she didn’t want Sebastian to think that she already granted him forgiveness.

"Well then, let’s go to the court. We don’t want to be late," Winter said. "You’ll come with me, but Arthur will drive."

"Okay."

*

Arthur stared at Sebastian and Winter who seemed to look harmonious together, even though his Madam told him that they were both reborn before.

He was afraid that his Madam was being fooled by this bastard for the second time, but he kept his silence as they drove out of the parking lot to the court.

Arthur checked from the rearview mirror from time to time and accidentally made eye contact with Winter.

"If you want to say something, just say it, Arthur," Winter said.

"I’m just wondering if you’re forced to stay with that man next to you, Madam," Arthur answered honestly as he had no intention of hiding his hostility against Sebastian. "You told me about what he had done in your previous life, so I don’t know if he is trustworthy."

Sebastian was about to retaliate. He didn’t want Winter to get influenced by Arthur or anyone, because it was already difficult to get on her good side.

Winter beat him to it first by saying, "I don’t trust him yet. Not until he shows me that he is trustworthy. We’re going together because we’re attending Camilla’s trial."

"I hope you don’t make the wrong decision, Madam. You’ve suffered long enough," Arthur said.

"It’s not your place to talk. It’s only between Winter and I," Sebastian scoffed arrogantly. Winter noticed that Sebastian was still the same arrogant young man in front of others, and had only shown his true vulnerable self in front of her.

She didn’t mind at all, because she knew that he needed a certain amount of arrogance and strictness to be a CEO of a big company.

However, she also couldn’t help but wonder if Sebastian got this swagger from his mother, or father, because Aiden was a very humble man who rarely got angry at anything or anyone.

’Ah, I should stop comparing them. Aiden is Aiden, and Sebastian is Sebastian. They are two completely different people even if they are half-brothers.’
