Chapter 59: Chapter 59

"Oh? Now I’m interested," Sebastian said, getting up and walking over to Winter.

He sat next to her without hesitation, ignoring her obvious disdain as their thighs accidentally rubbed into each other.

Sebastian grabbed the budgeting report and nodded. "Just as expected. I did make a few big decisions to make sure the company was running. Even in its dire state, a company this big shouldn’t be inactive. It needs to keep cranking out project after project."

"But it lacks a big break," Winter said, trying to ignore the discomfort of Sebastian sitting too close to her.

"A big break?" Sebastian raised his brow. "What kind of big break do you expect, Winter?"

Winter knew it’d take roughly a year before Sebastian could fully stabilize Goldmine Realty and another year for it to soar.

But she couldn’t wait that long.

Goldmine Realty’s stability had always been her concern, even in her previous life. But she just couldn’t do anything about it because Camilla barred her from ever meddling with the company’s affair, and Sebastian was just as cold as ever with any of her suggestions. He seemed to have seen her as nothing but a housewife, so her suggestions were deemed invalid.

In this life, she wanted to make sure that Sebastian saw her as a force to be reckoned with. She wanted him to admit she was just as capable of handling the company’s matters.

She might not be good at handling a CEO job because it involves many business meetings and deals, but she knew her way around the company’s budgeting.

"I see from the report that you’re taking on many small projects."

"Yes, I can’t take on any big projects right now because the company’s finances are not in the best shape. We’ll lose a lot of money if there’s any stumbling block in the middle," Sebastian explained. "So, taking smaller projects to stabilize the financial difficulty is the best course of action right now."

Winter had to admit that Sebastian was indeed an experienced and talented leader. If only he weren’t such an asshole, she’d be more than happy as his wife.

Unfortunately, we can’t have everything in this world.

"Your strategy is valid, but I want quick growth. I don’t want the company that my husband left to stay in a dire state for too long," Winter said, noticing the smile on Sebastian’s face quickly vanish after she mentioned ’my husband,’ meaning Aiden.

But she didn’t care whether Sebastian was happy or not. She already told him many times that she only had one husband whom she loved, and that man was dead.

She was just continuing her life, waiting for her end so she could join him in heaven—if that was even possible for a sinner like her.

"I want to propose a project with Aiden’s old friend," Winter said. "He is a hotelier and owns a few luxurious resorts. I’m sure you know Vivid Fall Resort."

"Vivid Fall Resort... you mean Lucien LeBlanc?"

"Yes, Lucien LeBlanc. I met him many times when Aiden and I attended parties or gatherings. He is one of the most pleasant people I’ve ever talked to. He even cracked a few jokes to help me feel less nervous at the parties," Winter recalled.

Lucien was roughly her age. He was mature and fit for his years. He was also humble, often engaging in conversation with her when Aiden was busy talking with other businessmen.

If she remembered correctly, Lucien had recently built a new five-star resort on the coast of Florida, and a luxurious resort would have taken a while to complete.

She imagined how much the company could make if Goldmine Realty became the contractor.

Goldmine Realty had many branches, mostly working around construction and building materials. If they could link it all, they could earn a huge amount of money quickly.

"I can talk to him and ask about his project. We can offer our services as the contractor if he plans to build another resort or hotel. Imagine the consistent profit we could gain from this project," Winter said.

Sebastian frowned as he recalled his encounter with Lucien.

He had long known that Lucien was a very savvy hotelier. He had many luxurious hotels and resorts under his name and seemed to be unstoppable.

He had been eyeing Lucien for a while, but this man wasn’t interested in making any deal. He was cold and didn’t even try to entertain a talk with Sebastian.

It wasn’t until Goldmine Realty regained prominence, securing a government contract for a massive housing project, that Sebastian finally signed a contract with Lucien.

Sebastian didn’t know what made Winter so confident that Lucien would consider working with a struggling company, especially based on a brief conversation they shared at a formal party long ago. He thought using that as a reason for her confidence was ridiculous.

Nevertheless, he didn’t want to dismiss her idea. It was already a blessing that she wanted to give him a suggestion, and even if he thought the suggestion was a bit foolish, he still wanted to ensure Winter felt her efforts were valued.

"Then what do you want me to do? Should I invite Lucien to our office?"

"Of course not. He’s too much of a big shot for us right now. We need to go to him, and I have just the right connection to meet him at a party," Winter replied. "And you will come with me, Mr. Saenz."

Sebastian’s eyes widened. "As husband and wife, right? Alright then, let’s go. I’ll be as presentable as I can be!"

"Don’t flatter yourself. I’m bringing you because you are the CEO. The most I can do is create a bridge between you and Lucien. The rest is up to you."

Sebastian was a little disappointed that Winter wasn’t as excited as he was. But that didn’t dampen his excitement.

Determined to prove his worth to his wife, he said, "I promise you won’t be disappointed in me. I’ll secure that deal for you!"

Winter rolled her eyes, seemingly annoyed by Sebastian.

But she was quite pleased by his excitement.

’I guess I can count on him when it comes to company matters. That’s his only quality, after all.’
