Chapter 63: Chapter 63

"O-of course, Ma’am! I will continue to work as his secretary because I want to be by his side! I want to protect him from my venomous sister!"

"Good," Camilla smiled. As expected, this woman was far more eager to throw herself into the fray. It wouldn’t be hard to predict and control her every move. "But first, we must do a little... revamp on you."

"Revamp?" Cindy asked. "What’s there to be revamped, Ma’am?"

Camilla pointed out heartlessly, since she wanted Cindy to be useful, "Your clothes, makeup, and demeanor. You need to fix it all."

"B-but I wear all these to seduce Sebastian—ah! "Cindy muttered, then realized what she had just said and quickly covered her mouth. "S-sorry, Ma’am. I was just trying to look presentable in front of Mr. Saenz!"

Camilla chuckled, "Oh, you don’t need to hide anything from me. I know you like Sebastian, and that’s okay. He has always been popular with girls."

"R-really? Then he must’ve dated many girls one after another—or maybe at the same time, right?" Cindy asked.

"Haha, yes," Camilla said, but she was unsure.

Despite his looks, Sebastian wasn’t a ladies’ man. He had a high school sweetheart whom he had introduced to her back then, but she did not meet Camilla’s standards. As a result, Camilla slapped Sebastian and then told him to break up with his girlfriend or she’d have to beat his girlfriend for seducing Sebastian at school.

Sebastian eventually stopped introducing any of his girlfriends to Camilla, even though she suspected he was dating many others behind her back.

But she never knew if Sebastian was the type who’d date multiple women at once.

’It would be better if he did,’ sighed Camilla, ’So he wouldn’t become attached to Winter at all. He’s a good boy, but he can be troublesome. He’s just like his bastard father.’

"You should know that for a man like him, he has a fancier taste than most. He dislikes seeing a woman so unrefined and uncultured," Camilla said. "Just like you."

That last sentence was like a knife that stabbed Cindy’s heart. She had gone to a good university and graduated with a good GPA. She had never been involved in any criminal activity, and she watched a lot of TikTok videos about rich young men. So she thought she already had everything checked.

But she wasn’t an idiot who didn’t know how to take criticism. Since her future mother-in-law said so, that meant she was at fault.

"T-then, what should I do to make him like me, Ma’am?" Cindy asked.

"First, don’t wear these... red-light district outfits. Wear something normal, just like the rest of the people in the office. Sebastian is dedicated to his job, so something distracting like this will make him scowl," Camilla pointed out. "Second, don’t talk to him like you are so eager. He already has a wife, and though he doesn’t love his wife, he still has to maintain a certain amount of amiability with Winter."

"Third, focus on your job as a secretary. Again, he’s a fair man when it comes to work. So, prove that you’re valuable in the office, and he’ll eventually loosen up to you."

"It’s so unfair that I have to do all that. While Winter can be so mean-spirited and get rewarded for it," Cindy complained.

"That’s because Winter has money. Trust me, Sebastian is not in love with that old woman. He’s ten years younger than her and definitely prefers a woman around his age instead," Camilla said. "He married Winter because he needs to boost his career, and Winter is the best woman to do that."

"I understand, Ma’am. He’s so smart!" Cindy praised. "I mean, if we can get rid of Winter in the end, we can be super rich, right?"

’Who’s we? A street whore like you will never be included,’ Camilla hated how this woman had already tried to instill herself into the family. But she still maintained her smile. "That’s right. So I want you to be more careful about what you wear. Got it?"

"Yes, Ma’am!"

"Now, I want to compensate you for my son’s rudeness. How about I give you a ride home?" Camilla offered.

"R-really? A ride home with this expensive car?!"

"Yes, I also want to know where your address is."

"Sure thing, Ma’am! You can even come to my house. My mom will be happy knowing that my mother-in-law—I mean, my sister’s mother-in-law will come for a visit!"

"Maybe later. It’s fine, as long as I know your mom’s address, then I can always come anytime, especially when I need your mom for something," Camilla smirked.

Cindy didn’t understand what was on Camilla’s mind, but she would be more than happy if she could ride this expensive car around the neighborhood!

**

Camilla parked her car in front of a four-story apartment. It was in a nice neighborhood, so even if the apartment wasn’t that big, the surroundings were safe and close to downtown.

’This place is nice. But still too modest for someone like Winter, who could’ve bought her adopted mother a real mansion with her money,’ Camilla thought as she stared at Cindy, who walked to the door.

Cindy turned around and waved at her with a big smile, and Camilla did the same, watching that stupid woman enter the house.

She looked up and saw an old woman watching over her car from the window.

The lady appeared to be in her late seventies, but she didn’t look as sickly as Cindy had suggested.

’Hm~ Too bad she’s not that ill. It would’ve been better to threaten Winter with her ill mother,’ Camilla thought. ’But it’s fine. Since she’s healthy, that means she’ll live long. Maybe long enough for me to use her when the time comes. I should thank Cindy for bringing me into her house. She’s such a good little chihuahua.’

Camilla chuckled as she drove off, feeling satisfied that she had everything in her hand.

All she needed to do was wait and see if Winter dared to do something that could threaten Sebastian’s position.
