Chapter 84: Chapter 84

Winter tried to remember the last time she wore this one. She knew it was a piece custom-made by Aiden’s order for their fifth-anniversary celebration.

’Ah, my fifth anniversary. It was a sad one, but Aiden tried his best to cheer me up,’ Winter smiled bitterly.

She got her second miscarriage a month before their anniversary, and Winter had been in a depressed because she thought she failed as a woman and a wife. Had it not for Aiden’s effort to assure her that everything would be just fine, she wouldn’t even recover.

And this purple silk gown was one of those efforts since he knew that she liked purple.

"Aiden..." Winter murmured as picked up the dress and gently caressed it. "Even when you’re not around anymore, I can still feel your love around me. For you are everywhere, husband..."

Winter wiped the tears pooling at the corner of her eyes. She didn’t want to cry, not when she had just finished her makeup.

Winter wore the dress and found no trouble wearing it alone. She had gotten thinner after Aiden’s death due to depression, so she didn’t need to buy anything new because her old stuff still fit her perfectly.

Before she went out, she checked her jewelry table and wondered what she should wear for today’s event.

She had never been one who liked wearing jewelry. She would be fine with a ring, earring, necklace, or bracelet, but not all of them at the same time.

"Maybe just earrings and a necklace. I’m wearing long gloves too, so no bracelet or ring," Winter said as she picked a pair of sapphire earrings and a necklace that matched the vibe of her dress.

She was thinking about making an updo for her hair but decided to just let it flow naturally in the end because she thought it was more casual.

Winter sprayed a sweet lavender-scented perfume before she went out.

"Sebastian, are you—oh—" Winter was about to call Sebastian from his room to come out because she didn’t want to be late.

But Sebastian was already in the living room, standing in front of the mirror, grumbling while trying his best to make a perfect knot for his tie.

"Why is this so fucking difficult?" He complained while redoing the tie over and over.

’Ah, I just remember that he cannot tie his tie. I was the one who did it in my previous life, so I guess this new Sebastian also can’t do it.’

Winter was used to fix Aiden’s tie before he went to work, and once she got married, she also did the same for Sebastian.

Aiden was very appreciative of her. He would often kiss or hug her while she was tying his tie.

But not Sebastian.

That man was cold as ever, he only looked at her once, waited for her to finish the tie, and then left without even saying thank you.

She found it offensive, of course. But she still did it every day because she thought that was just part of being married.

’Too bad, the old Sebastian never appreciated what I did for him,’ Winter thought.

Winter wanted to ignore Sebastian who kept failing to make a neat knot. She had no obligation to help him.

But she knew he had to look neat in front of Lucien. She even told Sebastian to shave his stubble clean for today, because Lucien was a very prim and proper man, who was always fully groomed from head to toe.

-

’Why do I have to look good in front of another man? Unless he’s gay and into a man thirteen years younger than him, then I don’t need to worry about the way I dress, right?’ Sebastian complained yesterday as Winter told him everything he had to do before the event.

’Don’t joke. Lucien likes to judge the way someone dresses. I just want you to look proper in front of him,’ Winter said.

-

Honestly, she was just speaking out of experience. Whenever she met with Lucien, that man always commented on her dress, her earrings, her necklace, and even her hairdo.

She found it weird at first, but he always complimented her, such as;

’The dress hugs your body so tightly. It looks good on you.’

’I heard from my friend that Aiden ordered that sapphire necklace special for your anniversary. You are perfect with it, your long neck looks even more beautiful.’

’I can’t help but marvel at your high heels, Winter. Are you not in pain wearing such tall heels? I’m afraid your pretty ankle will get hurt.’

She didn’t know if Lucien was really gay or he just liked complimenting her appearance.

She got a lot of compliments from other men at parties, but she regarded all of them as perfunctory compliments because she happened to be Aiden Kirk’s wife.

But with Lucien, she could feel that he was genuine, and it made her closer to him compared to other elites.

’I guess I can help him, just once—or maybe whenever we have an important event. I won’t do it every day,’ Winter told herself before she walked towards Sebastian. "How long are you going to tie that tie? I’ve been waiting for ten minutes."

"Ah—oh, sorry. I tried watching some instructions on YouTube, but I still can’t do it," Sebastian said regretfully. "P-please wait a minute, I will get it right this time."

Winter sighed, she grabbed each end of the tie on his neck and pulled Sebastian closer until there was almost no gap between them.

"You should learn how to do a proper Full Windsor knot, it’s the most basic. Didn’t I teach you how to do it before? How come you still can’t do it?" Winter complained while making a perfect knot. "Why do I have to do this every day?"

"But this is your first time tying my tie, isn’t it?" Sebastian asked innocently. "But it feels nice. I feel like I have been spoiled by my wife."
