Mage Manual-Chapter 1474 - 1074: I’ll Kill Vishi First
Sonia walked up to the second floor with a bag of snacks, her hair still steaming from the shower.
She glanced at the master bedroom at the end of the hall, hesitated for a moment, then turned and walked towards the bookroom on the other side.
Although she really wanted to sleep with Ash, especially since Ash went to Hell to adventure for them and brought back so many spoils, she wanted to properly reward him... But just now in the bath, it was Sonia who suggested that no one should disturb Ash tonight, and she wasn’t thick-skinned enough to say one thing and do another.
At least while everyone was still awake, she was still a bit shy.
If the Witch happened to fall asleep early tonight...
Various thoughts rose in Sonia’s mind as she kicked off her slippers and twisted the oak door of the bookroom open, only to be stunned.
The light inside was on, and Ash was lying in a red leather armchair, reading a book while hugging a green-skinned "Lalafei" pillow. Noticing her enter, Ash waved to greet her, then continued looking at his... comic book.
He didn’t speak, and neither did Sonia, who sat on another red leather armchair, tore open a bag of snacks, and opened a Light Screen to watch a show.
Two demigods, standing at the apex of the world, started slacking off amidst the books in the bookroom.
Ash was the first to be affected, because Sonia was utterly inconsiderate, watching the show with the sound on, making it hard for Ash not to be drawn in by the captivating dialogues — especially when he heard, ’Losing a love is painful, but losing yourself in love is more so,’ he waved Sonia over with a sense of urgency: "Come here, I want to watch too."
"It’s not for you." Sonia put a piece of potato chip into her mouth: "This is a drama last year by Dedarose, I didn’t have time to watch it before, it’s about the male lead losing everyone’s trust because of his promiscuity, deciding to pursue his first love again, but she has already moved on and doesn’t need him anymore."
"Did he succeed in the end?"
"Aren’t I watching just now?"
Ash glanced at Sonia’s single armchair, thought for a moment, then directly moved the entire small sofa over, sitting next to Sonia while simultaneously watching the comic and the show. Sonia glanced at him with mock irritation, slightly adjusted the Light Screen’s angle to enhance both of their viewing experience.
After a while, Ash reached into the potato chips bag, only to have his hand slapped by Sonia. He tried again, still slapped, so he had to withdraw his hand dejectedly and looked at the Sword Maiden with some confusion.
Why is she suddenly upset... not even letting me have chips... was it something I did wrong today!?
Very soon, however, Ash was immersed in the drama, which unfolded as a very typical ’chase wife crematorium’ plotline; Dedarose’s portrayal of the first love had an alluring mixture of youthful innocence and mature charm, yet when she rejected the male lead’s advances with dignity and grace, and even gave him a slap in the face, the audience couldn’t help but cheer for her.
"You know, in the original novel, the male and female leads ended up together."
Ash was astonished: "You spoiled it for me!?"
"I mentioned it was the original novel, didn’t I? Most dramas Dedarose stars in undergo adaptations; they don’t necessarily follow the original storyline," Sonia said. "Before, Adelle told me that while this drama was airing, audiences were fiercely divided, half wanting the original ending, half hoping the heroine doesn’t repeat her mistakes... which side are you on?"
Ash blinked: "...I’ve just seen the start, at least wait till the end to make a judgment, right? If we don’t see what follows, how can we know if a Miracle will happen?"
Sonia shot him a sideways glance, snorted softly through her nose.
When on the Light Screen, Dedarose said, "You know, some of the rain falls from the sky are tears I’ve shed," Sonia suddenly turned off the Light Screen, walked up to Ash, and harshly snatched the Lalafei pillow from his arms.
With Ash looking on in horror, Sonia brutally pummeled the Lalafei pillow, violently stuffing it into a cabinet in the bookroom with a slam, then turned to look at him with a soft bite of her lip and crossed her arms at the waist, her expression saying ’you’re next in line.’
After a moment of hesitation, Ash reached out and pulled Sonia into his arms. Sonia snorted, nestled in his embrace to find the most comfortable position, and turned the Light Screen back on to continue watching the show.
As if to commend his understanding, Sonia offered him a chip from the snack bag and even let him sip from her strawberry milk.
Ash finally realized why the Sword Maiden was upset earlier—she was mad that he was holding a Lalafei pillow rather than her.
Who could have guessed that!
The only fortunate thing is, this time, the only damage sustained was to the Lalafei pillow...
"What did you want me for?" Sonia asked abruptly.
Ash blinked, holding Sonia tighter around the waist. The freshly bathed Sword Maiden was wearing only a t-shirt and shorts, her straight legs crossed, her red hair carrying the fresh scent of hair conditioner. Hugging her was indeed more comfortable than holding a Lalafei pillow.
"Can’t I pester you just because I miss you?"
"So you were just eavesdropping on the bathhouse conversation?" Sonia glanced at him, "We only decided that I’d sleep in the bookroom while taking our bath."
"You two were quite loud, I heard it by accident." Ash put on an innocent face.
"I’ve given you the chance, say it now, otherwise, if you bring up any other woman later, I might just beat you to death."
"..." Ash scratched his head and awkwardly said, "Well, I just wanted to ask, what do you think of Vishi?"
Thud.
Sonia fiercely elbowed Ash in the chest, making him feel his ribs resonate, and he couldn’t help but ask, "Why did you hit me again?"
"Because the reason you came to me was to talk about another woman!"
Ash felt numb, "But didn’t you say we could only talk now?"
"But you could’ve held back and not talked about it!" Sonia pouted and turned to glance at him, "Couldn’t you pretend you came to see me exclusively for a date? Can’t it wait until I’m in a better mood tomorrow?"
"This is malicious entrapment and should be made illegal!" Ash protested, "How is this fair? Both options you gave are wrong!"
"When did you get the illusion that I play by the rules?" Sonia pouted, "I’m not in a good mood now, just leave, I don’t want to talk to you."
Ash looked at her for a long time, lifted her chin, "Stick out your tongue."
Sonia stared at him, her lips pressed tight, looking stubborn as if she wanted to bite him, but her right hand paused the video on the Light Screen. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
After a while, Sonia resumed the video on the Light Screen, finished the remaining strawberry milk to moisten her lips, and blushing, asked, "What did you just ask?"
"What do you think of Vishi?"
"From what perspective do you want me to answer?" Sonia, although her tone was sarcastic, spoke softly, clearly still caught up in the sweet afterglow from earlier: "From the perspective of your first lover wondering if you want to add a new lover?"
"No." Ash shook his head, "I’m just a bit curious about how you all see her, especially regarding her character, and how much you know about her. I want to supplement my understanding of her from your perspectives."
"Why ask me?" Sonia seemed puzzled, "You’ve spent almost half a year with her in the Allstars Cage, and I’ve only known her for just over a week, what could I possibly know?"
"Only a week?"
"What else? When you returned from the Allstars Cage and brought us for the Promotion Ceremony, that’s when I met Vishi at Ruby Mountain."
I spent half a year with Vishi in the Allstars Cage... Vishi only met the Sword Maiden and others after leaving the Allstars Cage... Ash thought for a moment and continued to ask, "It doesn’t matter, I think my half-year interaction might not see as clearly as your one week."
Indeed, Sonia nodded in agreement, thought for a moment, and said, "My earliest impression of Vishi is from the ’Ghost Manual,’ she makes no secret of being a ruthless Evil Mage, especially since she set up the ghost legacy, intending to return from the Death Veil by sacrificing thousands of Holy Sanctuary Mages, I was completely convinced she’s a villain who doesn’t see people as people."
Ash: "Oh..."
"However, after actually meeting her, I didn’t really have any ill feelings towards her, after all, she certainly helped a lot in the Allstars Cage, plus we went through the Promotion Ceremony together..." Sonia said, "But I still don’t like her."
"Why not?"
"Because she did harm you once in the Kingdom of Senluo, how could I possibly have a good impression of her?" Sonia tilted her head, "And although you can control her 100%, I still feel like... she will eventually ruin you one day."
"She’s a demigod who’s been active for over a thousand years, not even death can bury her desires, there’s no chain in this world that can fully restrain her. Someone like her is undoubtedly extremely arrogant, but at the time, she ended up being controlled by you, a mere mortal, mentally and physically, and she endured that—could you tolerate becoming a Slave to a Lalafell?"
The red-haired girl shuddered at her own words and snuggled closer into Ash’s embrace, "She’s a madwoman who can sell everything, even her dignity, so if she finds any chance to rebel against you, she will definitely show you what despair means."
Ash murmured, "I see..."
Sonia hesitated for a moment and then added, "Although I hate to say it... Ash, Lissdia and Youlan Weiser truly love you. I’m not saying they will always put your interests first or be willing to sacrifice themselves for you, but at least they won’t betray your interests for any reason."
"If a special situation arises now, like ’devouring you could directly achieve Supreme of Magic,’ she said, "No matter how good your relationship with Vishi is, I don’t believe she would pass up that opportunity."
"More importantly... such a special situation might actually happen."
Sonia wrapped her arms around Ash’s neck and said, "Having said that much, let me make my stance clear. If you just want to play around with Vishi’s body..."
"...I definitely won’t be happy about it either, and if I find out you slept with someone..." Her forehead pressed against Ash’s forehead, "I don’t know exactly what I’d do, but I would definitely show you what Cruelty means. By the way, this rule doesn’t just apply to Vishi, the witches, Silver Lamp, Felix... and anyone else I know of or don’t know."
Ash dared not move, holding the Sword Maiden’s slender waist stiffly.
"But the following rule will only apply to Vishi." Sonia gazed into Ash’s eyes, "If I find out that you really fell in love with Vishi..."
"For safety’s sake," she enunciated each word carefully, "I will kill Vishi first."
In the shadows illuminated by the silver light, a small shadow silently curled up under the sofa.
