Magus Supremacy-Chapter 765: Hate Greedy People
Chapter 765
"Ah... Feels good." Grey’s voice broke the silence as he fluttered to the ground like a bird.
He landed gracefully, a small gust of wind rustling his robe as his boots touched the earth.
Soon enough, the dust surrounding the beast cleared massively.
And there, everybody could finally see its condition.
Its head was impaled by the earth pillar from earlier, and even though the lightning great sword was gone, the devastation it had inflicted was unmistakable.
The beast’s neck had been pierced clean through, creating a massive hole that nearly severed its head entirely.
Only a strange, sinewy organ still held the head loosely in place, preventing it from fully detaching.
Black blood pooled beneath the beast’s body, filling the massive twenty-metre-deep crater beneath it.
The crater, now almost entirely filled with blood, resembled a grotesque swimming pool of pitch-black liquid.
Everybody stared in marvelling silence at what a single human had accomplished.
Though the others had battled the beast fiercely and held their own for a time, the work of one man still stood above all else.
"You’re all welcome." Grey added, a snarky edge creeping into his voice as a smug expression formed on his face.
Fenrir stared in mild awe, his eyes even twinkling faintly.
’I repeat again; how haven’t those blasted arrogant guys up there taken notice of him yet? Because I definitely would have felt this massive energy if I were one of them.’
Soon enough, the other members of the Crimson Lotus Clan wasted no time.
They dashed toward the dead beast’s massive body and immediately began carving through it, searching for its core.
The core of a divine-ranked beast would surely fetch a massive sum of gold coins... or perhaps be forged into a terrifyingly powerful weapon.
The moment the thought settled into the minds of the other warriors, especially Gunlag, greed took over completely.
"We weren’t supposed to kill the boss yet. This place was meant for all of us." Gunlag shouted, glaring fiercely at Alba and Grey.
"Now that you’ve killed the beast, how do you plan to compensate us?"
— Yes. Why do you have to be the ones to get the beast core?
— Do you know what the two major clans would do if they caught wind of this? This place was supposed to be a gold mine. A world filled with saint-ranked beasts.
— Yeah. Do you all know how much Saint-ranked cores sell for? Now you’ve destroyed the entire gold mine.
Grey paid no attention to the rants of the clueless warriors.
But someone else was visibly irritated.
"And if we hadn’t killed the beast, we would be the dead ones instead. Fools." Alba scoffed coldly, her eyes sharp as she stared at them.
"... Well, who sent you on an errand?" Gunlag clapped back, greed shining openly in his eyes. "We aren’t asking for much. Just compensation."
Alba recognised that look instantly. She had dealt with that same foolish expression for many years already.
Fenrir lifted an eyebrow while clutching his injured side.
"Compensation? What kind?"
"Well, how about a dozen gold coins each?" Gunlag said, turning to the other warriors.
"That should be fair, right?"
Several of them nodded eagerly in agreement.
"..."
A brief silence fell.
The members of the Crimson Lotus Clan stood in stunned disbelief, while the others continued searching for the beast’s core without pause.
Meanwhile, Grey stood with his back turned to the commotion, staring straight ahead for reasons unknown.
Then, he spoke.
"You all know that I can bury you in the earth with just a flick of my wrist, right?"
"..."
Another moment of silence descended upon the greedy group as loud gulps echoed through the area.
Of course, they had all seen what the strange warrior could do. The mysterious power he had displayed just moments ago and how he alone had killed the Divine-ranked beast.
It was all still fresh in their minds, but then—
"Haha~" Gunlag burst into a short laugh. "Do you think we are fools? All those flashy attacks you used just now would have surely exhausted you by now."
’That’s true.’ Fenrir nodded silently as he stared at Grey’s back.
"So," Gunlag continued as he unsheathed his sword from its scabbard, "either pay us up or be ready to forfeit that core. Do I have the support of the rest of you?"
— Yes!
The screams of acceptance from the fifty warriors standing behind Gunlag rang out, causing a soft, satisfied smile to settle on his face.
’This will be fun.’
Alba was currently low on energy.
From battling dozens of Saint-ranked beasts to participating in this fight, she had been thoroughly drained.
The same went for her other members, which was why they hadn’t truly participated in the battle against the Divine-ranked beast.
Fenrir, too, was spent—completely.
He had fought Saint-ranked beasts for several minutes before transitioning into a battle against Grey, who pushed him to his absolute limits, and then finally facing the Divine-ranked beast.
If he claimed he had any energy left, it would be a lie.
He was utterly exhausted, barely holding himself upright through sheer willpower while resisting the overwhelming urge to collapse.
Meanwhile, Gunlag was fresh, his energy brimming.
As a stage six warrior, he would be troublesome to deal with.
Behind him stood fifty warriors, all either stage four or stage five respectively, each one equally full of energy since none of them had taken part in the battle against the Divine-ranked beast.
It was as if he had planned this all along.
Perhaps that was precisely why Gunlag hadn’t participated earlier and had simply chosen to observe from the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Grey stood apart from all this.
No one knew how much energy he had left.
Still, they all believed it couldn’t be much, considering the high-level, planet-ending attacks he had unleashed. Surely, he had to be exhausted by now.
"So? What do you choose?" Gunlag asked, a wide grin splitting his face.
He didn’t bother hiding his greed anymore, choosing instead to put it on full display.
Sigh.
Grey’s shoulders slumped slightly, as if weighed down by exhaustion.
"Whatever happens in a beast world stays in the beast world, eh?"
"Huh?" Gunlag lifted an eyebrow as a sudden cloak of dread settled over him.
Soon enough, the skies darkened, causing everyone to lift their gaze upward.
A thousand wind swords floated silently in the air above the rebellious humans, each blade gleaming ominously as they all gulped collectively in fear.
’Ho-How does he still have so much energy left? What have I done?’
"For the record, I hate greedy people."
Snap!
