Chapter 772: The day has arrived

Chapter 772

Another Month has now passed by in the blink of an eye.

Everything moved so fast that nobody even had time to prepare properly. It felt like it was just yesterday the Crimson Lotus Clan went on a beast hunt with Grey where they met Fenrir.

During this month, nobody remained stagnated.

Just as the days were moving fast, so was Grey and everybody else.

After the meeting that day, Grey had returned to Yami and divulged the details about the Midnight Sun Clan so he wouldn’t go back to his family when the mage was away.

Yami was more than enraged and ready to attack the clan but it took the combo of the mage and Clarice to calm him down and see reasons before he managed to cool off.

Afterwards, it was preparation time. During this period, Grey didn’t have the time to craft nor modify more weapons for the Crimson Lotus Clan due to the fact that it would eat away at his preparation time.

So he just created more pills for both the business and for their own consumption.

A week before the month had ended, Leo had sent a letter to Grey detailing the location of the tournament and also giving him an invitation which he would show to the guards on that day.

As for Alba, she got an invitation easily as she also had influence in this world so it was a given.

As the vice leader of the waterfall clan, Fenrir wouldn’t have any issues attending.

Grey kept pushing himself every single day. Training his head off and trying to see maybe he would break through and evolve into a stage five warrior but it was all for naught.

Nothing worked but he could feel that he was close. So he just pushed his magic and ki to new heights.

And now, it was the day for the inter-faction tournament; a tournament where all the factions would choose young representatives from their various academies to decide on which faction is the best and strongest.

This tournament had several pool prizes which won’t be disclosed until the tournament started.

Since Alba and Grey would be heading for the same location, they decided to travel together.

Right now, the Supreme Magus was still at home. He just finished dressing.

He was currently in a neat cut piece of black, red and purple mixed together.

He was standing in front of a mirror straightening his blazer. He had changed his hair colour from red to black.

He didn’t want to go with the usual brown disguise because he had used it at the academy already so this was the next best option.

A mask lay on the chair beside him. Not the usual ’SM’ mask, but something plain and simple just to conceal his identity.

Leo had informed him that this won’t be weird as some high class warriors from all around would want to hide their identities so it was a given.

Walking into the room, was Clarice.

She looked worried, skeptical and fidgety as she stood beside the mage who was straightening his attire out.

He was currently adjusting his cufflinks.

"Mother Clarice, how do I look?" Grey asked with a wide smile on his face.

Clarice looked up while surveying the mage from head to toe.

"Like the prince you are meant to be." She replied with a warm smile.

After a brief pause, she added:

"But Grey..." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"Mother Clarice," Grey called out softly as he turned around to face the woman.

He placed his hands on her shoulders while flashing a warm smile at her. He looked into her eyes which were glistening with tears.

"... I don’t want you to be worried one bit. I have promised you earlier and I will still promise you once more; I will go and return safe and sound and with me would be Finral. I will bring your son back home with me."

Clarice stared for a few seconds, tears gathering in her eyes as she lifted her hand to touch his face.

Grey just grabbed the hand and then gave it a good kiss.

"Don’t worry yourself. Orion might be the closest to godhood, but I promise you, I won’t fall. I have fought opponents stronger than me and I have prevailed. This will be no different. I will make sure Orion Stormvale falls to my blade."

Droplets of tears began falling from her eyes as she quickly yanked Grey forward and hugged the mage tightly like her life depended on it.

"Please come back and bring my stupid son with you."

"I will."

"Ah. What a good dump that was." Yami’s voice could be heard breaking the emotional silence as he walked out of the mage’s bathroom.

This stunned Grey as he stared with wide eyes.

"Wait. Were you in my bathroom all along? The hell?!"

Yami just shrugged as he walked towards the window that led outside and stared out.

"This is my house, I can take a dump wherever I want to."

Grey opened his mouth for a few seconds at how ridiculous the explanation was but the next moment, Yami cut him off.

"Also, I have no doubts about your capabilities. Because I trained you for close to a year so I know how reliable and strong you are. But I don’t want that to get to your head because your opponents today aren’t just strong, if they wanted, they could erase me in the blink of an eye."

Yami paused as he crossed his hands across his chest while turning to stare at Grey.

"... I will just leave you with this one thing. Just know that if you don’t return alive, I will kill you again. So don’t die."

Grey smirked as he reached out and grabbed the black mask on the chair beside him and then he placed it calmly on his face.

"I won’t."

Yami nodded.

"Great then. Your ride has arrived. I wish I can come along but unfortunately if I did and I get recognised, a war might spark out between the Cromwells and other world powers. I really don’t want to drag my family into a war."

Grey just nodded as he turned around and began walking towards the door.

"Understood sir."

"Best of luck in your coup." Yami smiled as he watched Grey give a nod of acknowledgement and then twisted the door knob before walking out the room confidently.
