Magus Supremacy-Chapter 859: Escape (2)
Chapter 859
It didn’t take a genius to figure out what had transpired regarding the Umbrafell faction.
If Grey’s large-scale bombardment hadn’t reached the Noxarian faction, it certainly hadn’t reached the Umbrafell territory either.
This meant they hadn’t been eliminated, which only served to validate Pluck’s theory further.
Though the Behemoth Clan was renowned primarily for their brute strength and overwhelming force, it didn’t imply that Pluck was foolish enough to fail at putting two and two together.
It was a simple deduction that even a toddler could manage without any trouble.
Which led him straight to this conclusion:
"Those sneaky bastards have escaped!"
The leader of the Watcher’s Clan turned toward the bulky man beside him with a raised brow, his interest piqued by the sudden outburst.
"Who escaped?"
Pluck clenched his jaw in frustration, already wondering how he was supposed to reach safety himself.
"Those damned Umbrafell morons. They fled."
Turning to gaze in the direction where the faction members were supposed to be stationed, the Watcher’s leader could see absolutely nobody.
"How did they manage to escape? And more importantly—when?"
Pluck squeezed his hands furiously as he rose to his full, imposing height while casting a quick, apprehensive glance toward the suffocating clash.
The moment Orion had re-engaged in the fight, the crushing pressure he had emanated a moment ago receded almost instantly as he diverted his entire focus onto the Supreme Magus.
This shift allowed the others the freedom to move again, though the constant, bone-rattling shockwaves still forced many to their knees.
"I’m certain that the path they utilized to flee this place is located at the exact spot where the North booth stood a moment ago. Let’s move."
Rallying the children to their feet, the leader of the Watcher’s Clan—who went by the name Zain—followed in Pluck’s footsteps.
He moved quickly, silently praying that they wouldn’t be struck by any stray attacks or lethal shrapnel.

A few minutes passed, and they managed to reach the ruins of the North booth safely. That was when the wide, dark hole in the ground finally came into view.
"They really did vanish, eh?" Zain muttered with a heavy, weary sigh.
Looking at Pluck’s broad back, he opened his mouth to coordinate their next move
"I think we should let the kids go f..."
"Every man for himself. My life is more important."
Without a single hint of hesitation or remorse, Pluck jumped into the hole, vanishing into the depths while leaving Zain standing in a complete daze.
His eyelids fluttered in sheer disbelief at what the man had just done.
It took several seconds for the reality of the betrayal to settle in his head, and when it finally did, Zain was beyond furious.
"What a selfish bastard!" he bellowed down into the hole, his voice echoing angrily against the tunnel walls.
Taking a moment to compose himself, he inhaled and exhaled sharply a few times before turning toward the students from the Noxarian Academy.
"One by one, enter the hole. Hurry," Zain ordered.
The students didn’t need to be told twice.
They instantly got to work, scrambling toward the opening.
One by one, they rushed into the dark passage while the dozen guards brought by the faction stood directly behind Zain.
They formed a protective wall, shielding their leader and the kids from any incoming shockwaves while patiently awaiting their own turn to escape the carnage.
Seconds stretched into minutes, and when the fifth minute finally elapsed, the children were all gone.
Zain turned back to the battlefield one last time, a solemn, lingering look on his face as he watched the titans continue their struggle.
"I hope you survive. You seem like the hope this universe needs to survive," he muttered under his breath before turning back to face the opening.
’... Hopefully, this doesn’t lead into the enemy’s territory.’
He jumped into the hole, vanishing into the gloomy pathway.
A few minutes later, the guards followed, and with that, the two factions were successfully evacuated.
This left Grey and his remaining allies behind to face a terrifying Orion alone.
****
Back at the battlefield, Salamander had just sent a stream of flames rushing at Orion with deadly speed, stunning the man for a few fleeting seconds.
He knew exactly how powerful those flames were compared to Grey’s and Noir’s earlier efforts.
That was because he had been burnt alive by them once before.
Whether they could hurt him again in his newly evolved form was a question he wasn’t about to find out; which was precisely why he moved with such blazing velocity that it seemed as if he had teleported out of the area.
The flames from Salamander crashed into the ground, melting the stone almost immediately as if a gallon of concentrated acid had been thrown upon it.
Grey’s lightning boots crackled with a bright, volatile radiance in response.
Bang—!
The sound was akin to that of a cannon shot. Grey streaked through the air like a lone, vengeful shooting star cutting through the night sky.
He closed the distance between him and the hybrid within a single heartbeat.
Clara snaked toward the man’s neck with uncanny agility, the blade humming with power.
Quickly ducking under the lethal slash, Orion aimed to disembowel the mage’s abdomen with his razor-sharp claws.
Only for Grey to vanish from view entirely.
As if sensing exactly where he would reappear, Orion pivoted in place, his jaws hanging open and ready to chomp the mage’s head off.
And just as he had predicted, Grey manifested in that exact spot, only to see a mouth filled with rows of jagged fangs closing in on his skull.
"Shoot."
From the flank, Thalos hurled his greatsword with all the monumental strength he could muster, sending the heavy steel breaking through the sound barrier.
It clobbered into the hybrid’s face, pushing the beast’s head just a few inches away.
It wasn’t much, but it provided enough distance to allow Grey to vault backward just in time.
In that same breath, Grey unleashed twenty lightning bolts, sending them rocketing forward with crazy velocity.
However, with his inhuman agility, Orion smashed each of the bolts away from his body.
He swatted them aside as if he were merely destroying pesky flies.
Simultaneously, he closed the distance between himself and the Supreme Magus.
His leg descended from above in a crushing axe kick that also split the air in two with a sharp whistle. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Grey’s eyes shone with a brighter, more intense cadence.
The clouds overhead rumbled loudly, followed by a deafening sonic boom as a pillar of humongous lightning crashed down, shattering directly into Orion’s body.
The terrain turned into fine dust as debris went billowing into the air in a massive wave.
Orion was stunned for the slightest of seconds—the paralyzing effect of the lightning element finally taking hold.
Black ichor dripped down his lips as he remained frozen, while Grey let a smirk cross his face.
"Earth magic; Mountain Breaker."
The ground shuddered with a violent, primal force.
A giant stone pillar burst out from the earth with immense speed and then curled downward toward Orion’s head like a colossal hammer fit to be wielded by the gods.
All the hybrid could do was stare at the descending mountain with wide, panicked eyes.
