Chapter 864

BOOOOM—!

The terrain ruptured beneath Orion’s body as accidentally, black blood sprayed from his mouth painting the sky black for a moment.

Grey staggered backward for a few moments before falling on his knees with blood spilling from his mouth.

He coughed violently while staring at the volley of lightning spears descending towards the hybrid at deadly speed.

Orion also stared at the attacks like missiles of destruction heading for him.

’You won’t get me, never!’

Tearing the ground to his side with his claw, Orion put all his weight and force into that hand and with all the strength he could muster, he sprang off to the side just in the nick of time.

The spears crashed into the ground with thunderous force that a fifty metres wide shockwave blasted out smashing into Grey’s allies sending them scattering in different directions.

The ground where the attacks landed were totally eviscerated as if they never existed in the first place.

It was now a total black void in place of the previous brown earthen ground.

Orion was perfectly okay... as okay as he could get after being bombarded continuously.

He was still standing strong like the menace he truly is.

Grey was still coughing violently while at the same time puking as he grabbed his neck; his veins bulging immensely.

He had pushed past his limits bordering on a line he shouldn’t have attempted in the first place.

His breakthrough had ended a while ago. The time when the lightning bolt smashed into him from the sky, that was the exact moment his mana was totally depleted and his breakthrough was just a second away from ending.

He had made a decision in the heat of the moment.

He filled his mana core with Ki instead, pouring every single of it into the core meant for mana.

Surprisingly, it worked as his breakthrough was sustained for a few more moments allowing him deal the attack that put him in this position.

He was spent totally.

No single drop of energy was left in his body.

The skies was getting cleared from the storm clouds.

Soon enough, sunlight washed over the place like new dawn.

Grey’s robes were now tattered. Even in this position, the fire in his eyes still burned with menacing force as he stared at the approaching Orion.

His allies were all groaning on the floor weakly due to the crushing force of the shockwave that hit them.

But the hybrid didn’t care about them, his attention was solely fixed on the boy who had caused all these.

Staring at his own pool of blood for a moment, Grey looked back up only to see Orion directly in front of him staring down at him with disdain.

"What a shame. Even after everything you done, I’m still standing while you are on the floor instead. What a pity that the story of the Supreme Magus has to end in this place."

Blazing anger was coursing through Grey at the moment as he stared at his pathetic reflection in his own blood.

His jaws were clenched in fury only for his hair to be roughly grabbed by Orion who proceeded to lift him high into the air letting the mage dangle helplessly in his grip.

"... It’s a shame indeed as you are just a kid. A kid forced into what you know not of. A kid forced to play saviour for the world without knowing the dangers of this universe. You have made enemies with powers you can’t comprehend nor fathom.

You have made enemies with powers that could choose to eliminate you in the blink of an eye."

Orion paused for a moment as he stared at Grey’s eyes with a sinister grin the next moment splitting his face.

"What did you say earlier? Ah... you want to eliminate all Otherworlders? Hahaha~! What a funny joke."

The hybrid laughed for a few moments before shaking his head in disappointment.

... Disappointment at the kid’s foolishness.

"I’m just upper zodiac three and you couldn’t even defeat me with all your allies, friends, power ups, arsenal and five affinities. Now imagine what will happen when you come across upper two, upper one or even the leader himself?

Hahaha! We haven’t even talked about the demons you made an enemy too. You will just get killed sooner or later because of your stupidity. So let me help you make this much more easier!"

Orion’s face dropped into a kind of seriousness that should make some people’s skin crawl.

... Not Grey.

Cocking his hand behind his body, ki surged all around the hybrid’s claw with killing intent.

Grey remained there, staring at the hybrid and also his claw like it was absolutely nothing.

"Any last words?" Orion demanded with a smirk on his face.

"....."

It took a few moments for the others to get back to their feet but the force from the shockwave had destabilised their bodies to a different degree leaving them on their knees as they watched Orion ready to deliver the killing strike.

On hearing the question the man asked him, Grey stared for a few seconds as a smirk curved onto his face.

"You should know, Orion. For me to call myself the Supreme Magus, I knew that title won’t come lightly but with lots and lots of responsibilities and decision making."

Orion lifted an eyebrow at the boy’s calm, confident words.

"... I don’t do nor act without taking extra precautions and one of them is incase my pool of mana gets depleted, I can come back again."

Pop.

Energy flooded into Grey’s body almost immediately as the pill hidden in his mouth dissolved.

The mage’s eyes shone a bright light for a moment causing dread to almost grip Orion’s heart.

.... Almost.

Not wanting the mage to finish his transformation, the hybrid’s claw shot through the air with the speed of light a heartbeat away from slicing through the mage.

Until,

"Space Severing."
