Chapter 876: New Dawn!

Chapter 876

The kind of absolute chill the orange-haired woman, along with the elderly man, felt while watching Grey walk across the field of strewn corpses and the fresh streams of blood was something that simply couldn’t be explained.

He had set himself upon the throne after staring at it for a few silent seconds, his presence filling the room with an icy weight.

Out of the dozen special individuals who originally sat on the high chairs, only the orange-haired woman and the elderly man now remained.

Every other leader had perished in their reckless attempt to challenge the mage.

Aside from them, the remaining hundred or so warriors from various parts of the faction stood rooted to the spot, completely shell-shocked by the carnage they had just witnessed.

Even a seasoned stage eight warrior would have struggled against the sheer number of combatants that had surged toward him simultaneously.

These weren’t just any low-level soldiers; these were warriors of stage five and above who had coordinated an assault, with the bald man among them being a formidable stage seven Yun warrior.

Yet, the fellow before them had dismantled them all with terrifying ease, and within mere seconds no less.

He had utilized magical-like abilities that their mortal minds simply couldn’t comprehend, weaving through their ranks like a reaper.

The situation was gravely crazy—beyond anything they had ever imagined.

If the previous encounter with the mace warrior had been a charade, this—this definitely could not be one.

The orange-haired woman had known the bald man personally; they were quite close as leaders of different minor clans and had always remained on good terms.

She knew his strength was genuine.

So, this display definitely wasn’t some elaborate act put up just to instill fear into their hearts or trick them into accepting the person before them.

This was visceral. This was real.

And this mysterious figure on the throne certainly possessed more than enough raw strength to defend his position and deal with anyone foolish enough to cross his path.

At this point, Leo’s previous claim that this kid was the one to take down Orion didn’t seem so... exaggerated.

.... The truly unsettling thing? It didn’t even appear as if the young man was taking them seriously, nor did it look like he had actually gone all out.

He was dangerous. He was dangerously powerful, and if they so much as stepped on his tail, they would definitely be bitten—ruthlessly so.

The wise choice was finally clear to all who remained.

Thud—! Thud—! Thud—!

In a rhythmic wave of submission, every single individual left in the room dropped to their knees, their fists pressed firmly against their chests as they bowed deeply in Grey’s direction.

Over a hundred powerful warriors were now bowing to the Supreme Magus, who stared back at them with a cold, piercing gaze as if judging their very souls.

"We have no further objections. We accept Grey Dawn as the new head of the Aetherian faction," the orange-haired woman uttered, her voice trembling slightly as she bowed even lower toward the floor.

Leo and all of Grey’s allies beamed widely at the sight of this total capitulation.

If these stubborn leaders had finally agreed, who else in the world could possibly stand in the mage’s path? Nobody.

The three leaders of the major clans had accepted him; the minor clans had now followed suit.

Grey was now officially the new head of the Aetherian faction and, in turn, the new principal of the Aetherian Academy.

Thalos’ eyes drifted to the back of Grey’s head, a genuine, rare smile touching his stony face.

’... Thank you, Grey. Thank you for retrieving the faction and the academy from the hands of that vile man, Orion. Thank you for saving my master’s precious legacy.

I have absolutely no regrets in helping you. You are the right choice. You are the... right person to inherit Sir Armin’s legacy. You are the correct mage to finally inherit the first water mage’s throne.’

The gargoyle paused for a moment as he flashed back to a cherished memory of his master, and his grin knew no bounds.

’I am a hundred percent sure that if the master were alive this day, he would be immensely proud of this. Though you aren’t his biological son, I’m sure he would have considered you his own.’

Leo looked down at Grey, who remained seated calmly on the throne-like chair while exuding a mental pressure far beyond his years.

’My job is done. The legacy of this great faction is finally in the right hands. I’m sure of that. Grey Dawn; a heavy, monumental responsibility now rests upon your shoulders.’

Mada cast a quiet side glance in Grey’s direction.

No readable emotion crossed his face as he stared into those deep brown eyes of the mage, acknowledging the new reality.

’Years... for years now, I have wrestled and grown stronger just for one single thing: to grasp the reigns of this faction. Even though I knew it was practically impossible with Rivock around, I still craved it. But...’

He paused for a second as he lifted his gaze toward the high ceiling overhead, a self-deprecating smirk appearing on his face.

’... I never truly deserved it. I wasn’t fit to rule. You are, Grey. The charisma, the raw strength, and the burning ambition—you possess it all. I have no regrets, and I have also let go of all the resentment I once held toward you. Besides, I finally got the Waterfall Clan!’

Rivock, who had been grinning since the beginning of this ordeal, looked at the mage as a specific memory resurfaced in his mind, causing a sudden chill to run down his spine.

It was a memory from back when they were still at the Aetherian Academy—in the canteen where Mada and Grey had first faced off.

Though the direct descendant had wiped the floor with the mage that day, the Supreme Magus had made a solemn promise.

’What was it again?’

He scratched his head for a second before his eyes lit up with realization.

It had gone exactly like this:

"I didn’t want to care before. But now, I’m making this promise. I will grow stronger—so strong that I will become the leader of the Aetherian faction and eradicate this discrimination.

I will also make sure I wipe the floor with your faces while humiliating you in public. That is the promise of the future Supreme Yun warrior!" Grey had declared as he stood firm, his hands tightly clenched while he ground his teeth back and forth.

’Kek... he really did wipe the floor with our faces and humiliated us in front of everyone watching during the tournament, and now... he is the head of the Aetherian faction. How incredibly amusing. Hahahaha~!’ Rivock chuckled loudly in his mind as the memory stuck with him.

He recalled how they had all mocked the mage the day he made that bold declaration.

Now, every word had come to pass.

As if sensing exactly what Rivock was thinking, Grey turned around to stare at the three direct descendants with a small, knowing smirk on his face.

"I told you so."

Then, turning back to scan the kneeling warriors on the ground, the Supreme Magus rose from the throne with absolute confidence.

Staring at them all for several long seconds, he cleared his throat to command the silence.

"... I’m not going to give some grand speech or anything of the sort. I’m just going to say one thing."

He paused, staring at the sea of faces looking up at him with wondering expressions.

"This faction won’t be called Aetherian anymore. This organization will henceforth be named: The Dawn Faction!"

Feeling the surprised stares from Leo, Thalos, and everyone else, Grey explained his reasoning:

"That is because I will be bringing a new Dawn to this faction. A new Dawn to this world, and I will definitely bring about a new Dawn to this entire universe. And as for all those who have hurt us," he halted for a moment as a sharp spark of lightning flashed across his eyes. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"... I will make them all pay."
