Magus Supremacy-Chapter 882: Parlour Tricks?
Chapter 882
An elbow strike was heading toward Grey’s face with absolute lightning speed.
Lightning crackled violently around Grey’s feet, causing the ground beneath him to crack and splinter.
With a thunderous bang, the mage blitzed aside, narrowly dodging the strike which crashed into the empty air with a localized sonic boom.
The mage didn’t immediately rush to counterattack; instead, he desperately tried to process Borfan’s cryptic words from a moment ago.
’A god? What exactly does that mean?’
Instantly, the warrior spun around, locking eyes with the Supreme Magus from a short distance away.
Ki swirled around Borfan’s limbs like a torrential storm, boosting his already overwhelming speed to new, unimaginable heights.
In a heartbeat, he was directly in front of the mage again.
Before he could land a blow, however, Kaiser screamed through the air, sending two thousand wind swords forward with every powerful flap of its wings.
The warrior tilted his head to the side, staring at the approaching elemental projectiles with a bored, almost disinterested look on his face.
Then, with a casual wave of his hand, the wind swords suddenly collapsed toward the ground, splintering into nothingness as they struck the earth.
Grey stood dazed at the sight.
How was that possible?
Borfan turned his attention back to the mage, but Grey had finally snapped out of his shock.
He quickly launched a massive wind tornado that bashed into the warrior, successfully sending him sliding half a step back.
Vaulting off the ground with all his might, Grey hovered in the air for a few seconds before swinging his hand down.
He unleashed tons of fireballs, each one flying toward the warrior below like a rain of genuine meteors.
Borfan watched the descending inferno with a calm expression, as if the situation were incapable of fazing him in the slightest.
Suddenly, his eyes shone with a brilliant golden light.
Without warning, the fireballs veered off course, crashing into the ground well before him, burning through the soil and kicking plumes of sand into the air.
Grey was confused by the redirection, but he wasn’t about to let it take him out of the fight.
"Raijin Spiral!"
A dozen wind tornadoes, each crackling with internal lightning, manifested in the air around him.
Without wasting a breath, they were launched at the man standing below.
The tornadoes ripped through the terrain, spinning fiercely as they converged on the warrior.
Then, it happened again.
It was as if Borfan simply phased through the gaps in the magic.
He suddenly passed through the swirling storms, appearing instantly in the air exactly where Grey was hovering.
His fist vibrated with overwhelming power as he sent it whipping toward the mage with the speed of light.
Swiftly, the Supreme Magus blinked out of the way just in time.
The missed punch shattered the sound barrier, and the ground beneath the impact zone ruptured for meters on end, sending massive sand dunes flying into the sky.
Reappearing directly behind the warrior, Grey sent twenty horizontal wind slashes toward Borfan’s exposed back.
But with equally terrifying speed, the warrior was gone.
Instead, he appeared directly above the mage with his leg raised, Ki flooding his limb and ready to splinter Grey’s skull.
Feeling the violent shift in the air above him, Grey quickly shouted:
"Folding!"
In a fraction of a second, the spatial distance between the two grew exponentially.
Borfan’s leg shattered the air once more, and the ground far beneath him caved in massively, a ten-meter-wide cavity appearing in the terrain from the sheer pressure.
Grey was now twenty meters away, his heart pounding loudly in his ears.
’What’s going on? Why is he attacking me so relentlessly? And how are all my attacks failing to reach him?’
Borfan landed smoothly on the cracked earth, his face stoic as he stared at the distant mage.
"Fusion magic: Thunder Lance!" Grey roared.
A spear of highly condensed wind and lightning materialized in front of him.
With a clamorous, piercing sound, the spear shot toward the warrior at terminal velocity.
Borfan stared at the approaching spear with a calm, analytical gaze.
When the projectile drew close, he immediately leaped to the side, thinking he had avoided the strike, only for the spear to swerve sharply in mid-air and shoot toward him again.
The warrior lifted an eyebrow in genuine surprise at the maneuver.
He didn’t let the tracking deter him as he leaped backward once more, but the relentless spear continued to home in on his position.
’Oh! It’s locked onto me, huh? Impressive.’
Left with no other choice, Borfan swirled Ki into his palms—an exponential amount that could easily rupture a normal person’s limbs, but not his.
Then, with a loud, thunderous clap, a massive shockwave burst outward, shattering the ground for meters in every direction.
The force slammed into the spear, causing the condensed magic to dissipate immediately.
The resulting shockwave had also kicked up a dense cloud of dust all around him, completely obstructing his view of the battlefield.
That was when the counterattack arrived.
"Mountain Breaker!"
A massive stone pillar burst out from the dry ground with immense force, dispelling the dust screen around the warrior.
The pillar curled downward like a giant hammer and was seen speeding toward Borfan’s head with deadly velocity.
The warrior didn’t move an inch; instead, he simply crossed his arms over his chest, looking straight into Grey’s eyes even as the massive weight approached his skull.
WAM—!
The earth beneath his feet ruptured further as the pillar crashed directly onto the warrior’s head.
A crack appeared in the stone.
Then another. Then another.
Finally, the massive pillar shattered into harmless fragments, leaving Borfan standing there totally unhurt.
Thalos watched the exchange with an amused look on his face, still refusing to interfere in the battle as he found a nearby mound to settle on.
His gaze never left the moving figures.
’He has been tanking Grey’s hits without much effort. Can the kid actually do this?’
The Supreme Magus huffed, his chest heaving slightly as he stared straight at the man a few meters away with a deadpan look on his face.
Borfan tilted his head to the side for a moment, a small scowl forming.
"Seriously? Is this how you took Orion down? Is this how you defeated a Corrupted Primordial ranked beast? With parlor tricks? So disappointing. I guess he just hyped you up for nothing."
Grey closed his eyes for a moment, steadying his frantic breathing as he absorbed the man’s insults.
He reached deep within himself, tapping into the vast reservoirs of power he had been holding back.
"You wanted all out? You will get it."
Mana flooded Grey’s cores and then surged through his entire body, causing a soft, ethereal white glow to manifest around him.
His hair began floating weightlessly above his shoulders, caught in a personal gale.
The moment he snapped his eyes open, they were pure white, like the heart of a storm cloud.
Speaking of the clouds... the sky above them had darkened instantly, turning a bruised purple as if a cataclysmic storm was approaching.
"Breakthrough."
