Chapter 27: This isn’t just crossing a line anymore.

"W...w....what?" he stammered, completely thrown off guard.

Gabe looked up, his lashes still wet, his expression heartbreakingly vulnerable. "Just for a while," he whispered. "Until I can stand on my own again."

Alex’s eyes widened in shock, so wide it was almost comical, except that there was nothing funny about what he’d just heard. For a second, he thought maybe he was hearing things. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Stay at my place?" he repeated, blinking as though to confirm if he’d heard correctly. His brows furrowed, disbelief flickering across his face. "Is that... what you just said, Gabe?"

"Yes, please." Gabe’s voice was steady this time, though it trembled slightly at the edges. "Your personal house," he clarified quickly. "Not your office. Sabe already knows about that place. But your house..." He paused, his eyes pleading. "He doesn’t know where that is. And even if he comes to your office to cause trouble, all you’d have to do is tell him I’m not with you. He’ll believe you sooner or later as long as you keep the act going."

He swallowed hard, his voice turning desperate. "So please, Mr. Alex. Just help me. Even if it’s only for three days. That’s all I’m asking."

Inside, though, Gabe’s thoughts were darker laced with a small, vengeful spark.

Staying in your house is the perfect revenge on Sabe, he thought silently, his lips twitching in a faint smirk. I want him to wonder what’s going on between us under your roof. I want him to lose his mind thinking I’m sharing your bed. I want him to suffer the way he made me suffer.

Alex blinked, still staring at him, and then an incredulous scoff escaped his lips.

His thoughts spiraled, his chest tightening. Is he even hearing himself? Alex thought grimly. This isn’t just crossing a line....it’s setting fire to the damn bridge and watching it burn.

"Mr. Gabe," he began carefully, his tone edged with restraint. "Do you even realize that I’m a Beta and also your therapist? If you end up living with me..." He trailed off, dragging a hand down his face before exhaling heavily. "We already crossed one bridge today. You know that. We kissed. We touched each other. If your husband hadn’t shown up when he did..." His words caught, heat rising to his cheeks. "We would’ve gone much further than that."

He swallowed hard, lowering his gaze briefly before meeting Gabe’s eyes again. "I’m a professional therapist. What I did with you today was already crossing an ethical line that could cost me my license if anyone ever found out."

"But I’m not going to spill a word to anyone!" Gabe suddenly shouted, his voice cracking as tears welled up again.

His voice trembled as he clutched himself protectively, pain etched on his features. "Is it until he cuts it off? My dick. Is it until he makes me so useless I can’t even stand being touched anymore?!" His voice broke into a sob, his words dissolving into a desperate cry.

Alex’s heart clenched. He stepped closer, his hand gently gripping Gabe’s shoulder.

"Hey, hey," he murmured, his voice soft but firm. "No one is going to make you feel useless again. You hear me? And you’re not useless. Don’t ever let that man or anyone make you believe that."

Gabe nodded weakly, his tears still falling as his shoulders trembled beneath Alex’s hand.

Alex sighed quietly. "Let’s take care of your wound first," he said, his tone shifting back to calm professionalism. "We’ll apply some ointment, and then I’ll arrange somewhere safe for you to stay. Alright? Somewhere Sabe will have no idea of."

He forced himself to sound steady, though his mind was a mess of conflict. I really can’t let him stay under my roof, he thought. I don’t trust myself, not around him. And I don’t want anything sexual to happen between us. At least... not so soon.

But before he could say anything else, Gabe lifted his head, his eyes wide and pleading.

"I said I want to live under your roof, not anywhere random," he said softly but firmly. "I promise I won’t make you regret it. I won’t do anything silly. I just..." His voice faltered, his eyes shimmering. "I just feel safe with you, Mr. Alex. Safe under your roof."

Alex’s stomach knotted. He looked away, rubbing the back of his neck as frustration clawed at him.

Damn it, he thought bitterly. The problem isn’t even him anymore....it’s me. I don’t think I can control myself around him.

Finally, after what felt like a long silence, he spoke again, his tone quiet but edged with fatigue. "Well... I suppose our therapy session has reached its end for today. You already said you hate your husband, that you see him as a beast so I guess there’s no point trying to fix that relationship anymore." He exhaled deeply. "You can stay at my place for now, just to heal and sort out your next move. You’ll probably need to file for divorce soon, anyway."

He paused, his gaze steady but guarded. "We’ll make sure not to disturb each other. I’ll give you space, and we don’t have to see each other regularly. Understand?"

But Gabe only shook his head, his expression tightening with stubborn determination.

"The therapy session still continues," he said quietly but his tone carried enough conviction to make Alex’s spine stiffen.

Alex blinked, taken aback. "What?" he asked, his brows shooting up. "What do you mean by that, Gabe?"

"The sessions aren’t ending," Gabe replied simply, his tone serious. "They’re never going to end."

Alex let out a frustrated scoff, placing his hands on his waist as he turned away for a moment. "Don’t tell me you still want to win that monster back?" he asked, his voice rising. "You still plan to practice everything we’ve done here just to please him?"

"I’m not practicing for him anymore," Gabe snapped sharply, his voice thick with anger and tears. "I’m practicing for myself. For the next man who comes into my life. And besides," he added, his breathing heavy, "I need these therapy sessions not just to improve my sexual confidence but to help me move on from Sabe completely."

His voice softened then, cracking under emotion. "I want to forget everything about him."

Alex fell silent. He looked at Gabe’s tear-stained face, his trembling hands, his fragile but determined expression.
