Chapter 86: On one condition.

The next day arrived swiftly, the golden sun spilling through the wide windows and casting warm rays across Sabe’s face. Morning light painted the room, illuminating the slow rise and fall of Matthew’s chest beside him. Matthew lay close, an arm securely wrapped around Sabe’s waist, holding him as though afraid he might disappear if released.

Sabe turned slightly, studying him in silence.

He looks cute even while sleeping, Sabe murmured inwardly, his lips barely moving as his fingers trailed gently down the bridge of Matthew’s nose. His touch was feather-light, reverent. I’ll definitely win this case for you and our unborn child. I won’t let the Fetalyn case ruin the future we’re building together. I swear it.

With that silent promise weighing heavily in his chest, Sabe carefully slipped out of bed. He moved quietly, deliberately, making sure not to disturb Matthew before heading toward the bathroom and closed the door closely behind him.

Once inside the bathroom, he hand trailed towards his trouser band and the moment he tried to pull off his trousers, his hands trembled.

Tears threatened to spill, sliding hot and heavy down his chest, but he clenched his jaw and sucked in a sharp breath, forcing them back. He refused to cry not here, not now. He couldn’t wake Matthew. Worse, he couldn’t let him find out.

"I need to remain strong." Sabe murmured under his breath with a determined expression.

Gathering what little courage he had left, he pulled the trouser down to reveal his bandaged dick, he then stepped into the bathtub and immersed himself in the warm water.

The heat wrapped around him, soothing his tense muscles but doing nothing to ease the ache in his heart. He washed slowly, methodically, as though each movement required effort. When he was finally done, he stepped out, dried himself quickly, attended to his dick by cleaning it as well as bandaging it again afterwhich he quickly pulled on a fresh pair of pants, and tied a towel securely around his waist before exiting the bathroom with a heavy sigh.

"You’re awake already."

Matthew’s voice startled him.

Sabe looked up to see Matthew sitting up in bed, eyes soft but alert.

"Good morning, baby," Matthew added warmly as he rose up from the bed and walked up to Sabe, leaned forward to plant a gentle kiss on Sabe’s cheek while wrapping an arm around his waist.

"Good morning, love," Sabe replied, forcing a smile even as fear and shock curled in his stomach. "You should still be in bed. Why are you awake so early? Don’t tell me you’re going to work."

Matthew frowned slightly. "I know, right? I miss you even though we slept in the same bed." He paused, brow furrowing. "But seriously... how the hell did I pass out last night?"

Sabe swallowed hard.

Oh yeah. I knocked you out, he thought grimly. If I hadn’t, you would’ve found out I don’t have a dick anymore the moment you touched me.

"You were exhausted last night," Sabe said smoothly, masking his panic. "You just got back from a business trip, and you’re pregnant. The stress must’ve overwhelmed your body. Your body couldn’t handle it." He leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to Matthew’s cheek. "You and our baby need rest."

Matthew studied him for a moment, then sighed. "Okay... but can we at least have sex? Just one round, baby?" he pleaded, eyes softening. "I really miss your dick, I swear."

Sabe stiffened instantly.

"No," he replied too quickly, then gentled his tone. "We can’t do that, darling. You need to rest." He gently but firmly brushed Matthew’s hand away as it started to trail downward. "I’ll call one of the doctors from the hospital to come check on you today." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Before Matthew could protest further, Sabe grabbed his suit and shoes and hurried out of the room, shutting the door behind him and leaving Matthew staring after him in confusion.

Outside, Josh was waiting.

"Oh I was just about to wake you up, boss. Didn’t know you were already awake," Josh said respectfully as Sabe stepped out.

"You’re early," Sabe replied dryly as he slipped into his trousers and buttoned his shirt.

He finished dressing quickly, pulled on his shoes, and grabbed a bottle of perfume he had grabbed from the room, spraying it on without much thought. Moments later, he descended the stairs with Josh at his side.

"You’re finally up," came Gabe’s voice.

Sabe and Josh both turned to see him seated there in his wheelchair, arms folded.

"I’ve been waiting for you for what feels like forever," Gabe continued. "We should leave now."

Josh stiffened slightly. "Please don’t provoke Young Master this morning again, Master Gabe," he warned quietly.

"Provoke?" Gabe snapped, irritation flaring in his eyes. "How dare you say that?" He scoffed. "When I’m talking to my husband, you a lowly guardshould keep quiet."

Josh glanced at Sabe. One look was enough. He stepped back immediately, falling silent.

Just what exactly is he up to now? Sabe thought, a slow smirk forming on his lips. I haven’t even punished you or that therapist yet for what you did to me, and here you are testing my patience again.

Aloud, Sabe tilted his head slightly, amusement masking his irritation.

"And where exactly are we going together, Gabe?" he asked coolly.

The smirk never left his face.

"You’re going to the police station," Gabe said evenly. "As your partner, I have every right to follow you. We should figure out how to solve this case together, after all."

He finished with a warm, almost gentle smile....one that only seemed to irritate Sabe and Josh even more.

I need to keep an eye on you, Gabe thought inwardly. Just like Fred will be keeping an eye on Damien. I’m really curious about who you plan to push forward to take the fall this time.

"My partner?" Sabe repeated, disbelief dripping from his voice. He let out a sharp scoff, his lips curling with contempt. "Since when have you ever behaved like my partner huh?"

He took a step closer, invading Gabe’s space. "Just wait until the Fetalyn case is over. Then you can divorce me. I won’t stop you." His eyes darkened. "You’ve already ruined my life anyway. I believe you’re happy about that so yeah mission accomplished."

Lowering his voice, Sabe leaned toward Gabe, careful not to let Matthew overhear. His tone dropped to a barely audible whisper, sharp and poisonous.

"That therapist of yours and you are responsible for what happened to me," he said coldly. "And I promise you this....you’ll both regret it." His mouth twitched into a cruel half-smile. "It’s only a matter of time before neither of you can enjoy anything ever again."

"As long as I’m still married to you, I am your partner," Gabe replied, his voice firm now, stripped of warmth.

He held Sabe’s gaze steadily. "And yes, I already called that police officer you trust so much. I told him I’d be coming with you to the station. He said it was a good idea."

Gabe straightened slightly. "We’re partners. When trouble comes, we face it together. That’s how it’s supposed to work."

Josh leaned closer to Sabe, his face tight with frustration and anger. "Why not let him take the blame for the Fetalyn case?" he whispered harshly. "He’s practically begging for it, boss. There’s no need to use another person when someone is already offering himself.

"That’s not possible," Sabe muttered back, his voice low but firm. "I need him out of prison."

His eyes flickered with something dangerous. "I still have things to settle with him."

And I’d much rather keep you away from that therapist, Sabe added silently.

I can’t shake the feeling that the two of you are fucking each other.

Something I can no longer have, he thought bitterly. And if I can’t enjoy it anymore, neither will you. Neither of you will.

The thought made a slow, satisfied smirk spread across his face.

Finally, Sabe turned back to Gabe, schooling his expression into something composed.

"No problem, then," he said aloud. "You can follow me to the station."

He paused deliberately before adding, "On one condition though."

And what is the condition motherfuker! Gabe thought Inwardly.

He remained silent, waiting.

"You don’t say a word at the station unless you’re directly asked and if you don’t understand any questions, just let my lawyer explain it," Sabe continued. "No interruptions. No questions."

His eyes hardened. "And don’t ask me why. Not about the case. Not about how I handle things."

"If you can’t understand the process," he finished coldly, "you’ll understand the outcome. Eventually."

Gabe’s lips curved slightly, though the expression never reached his eyes.

Oh, I’ll understand everything, he thought.

Every lie. Every move. Every person you plan to sacrifice.

And in the end, you won’t be the one laughing the last laugh, Gabe continued inwardly. You’ll rot in prison, Sabe and you’ll lose everything. I promise you that.
