Manaless Mage-Chapter 237: Into the system
Chapter 237: Into the system
’Yes!’ Harry thought, his eyes shining with glee when he saw the notification flashing across his eyes.
After struggling with it for months, he had finally managed to comprehend the fire element!
[Quest "Comprehend an affinity" completed!]
[Rewards granted: +5000EXP, Class evolution to "Manaless mage"]
However, the notifications didn’t stop there, and even more appeared in front of Harry.
[Congratulations!! You have finally fulfilled all the requirements to evolve into the class "Manaless Mage"]
[Would you like to evolve your class now?]
[Yes/No]
’Yes!’ Seeing the set of tabs in front of him, Harry didn’t waste any time before choosing the option to evolve.
This was what he had been waiting and training so hard for all this months, there was no way he would postpone it for later.
[Beginning Evolution...]
His energy suddenly surged ferociously within his chest, bursting through every part of his body.
The energy flowed through every part of his body, rapidly channeling through his veins and even pouring into his heart.
The sensation felt similar to the last time he evolved, except the energy was over ten times more, filling vis whole body vigorously.
’Finally...’ Harry lips curled into a satisfied smile, relishing in the sensation of his evolution.
It felt like his whole body was being submerged in a warm and refreshing liquid, which reenergised his flesh and his whole body.
This went on for a while, before the energy finally settled down on his chest.
"Hah..." Harry heaved a low sigh of relief, gently resting his hand on his chest.
He could feel it... the energy burning brightly within his chest.
Although he hadn’t checked his stats yet, he was sure his energy had already increased multifold.
[Harry... you can’t rest now, the work isn’t over.]
A familiar voice unexpectedly echoed in his head, causing his eyes to widen in shock.
"What? Other voice...?" He mumbled, his brows furrowing into a deep frown.
The other voice had been silent for the last five days, and now that he finally evolved into a new class, the other voice suddenly spoke up.
He didn’t know why, but something felt strange about it all... and he didn’t like it one bit.
’What do you mean the work isn’t done?’ He thought, sitting upright.
[I get how you feel about all this, but just listen to me.]
[Your energy will soon start riling up once more, you have to do whatever you can, to contain it within your body.]
[Don’t let it burst out...]
"Huh? What the hell are you—"
His energy abruptly flared up within his chest again, causing his eyes to widen in shock.
However, unlike the last time, it danced a lot more violently, rapidly building up within his chest.
’What the hell is this...?’ He thought, gnashing his teeth in frustration.
’Contain it... I have to contain it.’ Despite not being sure about what was happening, he did the first thing the came to his mind, which was following the other voice’s words.
Swiftly activating [Energy control], he hurriedly tried channeling his energy into the other parts of it body, in order to reduce the huge amount of energy rapidly building up within his chest.
However... it was extremely difficult.
Despite him trying to channel it, the force at which the energy was swirling was just too strong, and he couldn’t just get a proper hold of it.
’I can’t properly control my energy... t-this... has never happened before!’ Harry thought, tightly gritting his teeth as he poured more of his focus into containing his energy.
Although channeling his energy was sometimes a little difficult, there was never a time when his energy was strongly resisting against him.
It was usually just his energy control level not being high enough that gave him problems in controlling his energy.
But this was a very different case; his energy was completely spiraling out of control!
He didn’t know why, or even how, and all that kept replaying in his head were the other voice words.
He couldn’t help but wonder... just what would happen if he couldn’t contain it within his body?
Nonetheless, he doubted it would be anything good, and he didn’t want to find out also.
Pouring even more of his focus into the white flame stirring violently within his chest, he hurriedly tried channeling it towards another direction.
Unlike the last time, he did it little by little, gently dispersing them around the rest of his body.
It was still difficult, however he was making more progress this way.
After a few minutes of continuously channeling his stirring energy, he finally succeeded in calming it down.
"F-finally... it’s stopped..." Harry mumbled amidst heavy pants, tiredly collapsing to the ground.
He had overexerted himself, and not just his body, but also his mind were completely exhausted.
’Other voice... what was—’ His words were immediately cut short, as his energy started stirring violently once more, this time even more than before.
’Shit!’ Harry thought, his eyes widening in shock.
He hurriedly tried containing it once, however, he couldn’t even get a proper grip on it before his energy stirred up to the top of his chest, and then—
Fwoosh!!
A thin blue line of light suddenly shot out of his chest, shooting towards the sky at tremendous speed.
The ceiling and roof of the house did nothing to stop the energy beam, as it simply phased, blasting into the sky with its momentum uninterrupted.
Thwoom!
Upon reaching the clouds, the beam immediately exploded in a brilliant shower of energy, which rapidly spread across the sky.
However, Harry couldn’t see this, as he was still lying in his house.
"N-no..." Harry muttered, weakly stretching his hand upwards.
"I-I couldn’t... stop it..." He kept mumbling, slowly standing up on his feet.
His body was still weak, and his legs kept staggering even as he tried to stand up.
Suddenly, his sight completely turned burry, and the strength in his body was rapidly zapped away.
"W-what is going on... just what..." He wasn’t able to complete his words, as his body abruptly collapsed unto the ground, unconscious.
*
"Argh..." Harry let out a light grunt, his eyes slowly opening back up.
The first thing that appeared in his sight was a brilliant white ceiling, which stretched far across than he could see.
He slowly stood back up on his feet, letting out another groan.
His eyes narrowed into a deep frown, as he looked around his surroundings, still confused about where he was.
"Where... am I?" He mumbled, his eyes slowly widening in surprise.
All he could see around him were white, like he was standing within an endless sea of white.
What he thought was a white ceiling, was actually just part of the white stretching across the room.
"What the hell is this place...?" Harry muttered, his expression twisting into a deep frown.
The strangest thing was that despite being in this weird white room, he didn’t feel scared or anything.
For some reason, the ’white’ stretching all across the room felt familiar to him.
"You’re finally awake." A familiar voice suddenly echoed in the air, causing his eyes to widen in surprise.
"Who is that?!" He said, instinctively snapping his head to the direction the voice came from.
His eyes met with that of a tall man with long blonde hair and light brown eyes, who was standing a few meters away from him.
’That voice...’ Harry mumbled inwardly, his eyes trembling slightly in realization.
"Don’t tell me you can’t recognise my voice Harry, it’s me, the ’other voice’." The man said, flashing a slight smirk at Harry.
"The other voice..." Harry mumbled, still taken aback by all that was happening.
Despite trying repeatedly to deny it, he had always considered the possibility that the ’other voice’ wasn’t just a voice from the system, but an actual person speaking within his head.
However, to think that little speculation of his was actually right.
Standing in front of him, was that actual person... the ’other voice.’
Nonetheless, he was still confused. If the other voice was an actual person, then why was he speaking through the system?
How was he even doing so? What the hell was this white room? Could he really trust the other voice in that case, or even the system for that matter?
Different questions kept popping up in his mind, but unfortunately, he had no answers to any of them.
"I know all this probably feels a little... overwhelming. But you don’t have to worry, I’ll always be on your side."
"And don’t forget, you can always trust the system." The blonde haired man, folding his arms behind his back.
’How did he know the questions I had in mind? Is he reading my mind or what?’ Harry thought, his eyes narrowing slightly at the blonde haired man.
"And no, I’m not reading your mind. I can only do that when you’re directing your thoughts at me." The man suddenly spoke up once more, his lips slowly curling into a light smile.
"Besides, your expressions are so easy to read. I don’t even need to read your mind to know what you’re thinking." He continued, barely stifling a chuckle.
’He sure is chatty this time... and he’s also a lot more annoying than when he was just speaking in my head.’ Harry thought, his brows twitching in annoyance.
The fact that someone could know his thoughts so easily through his expression was quite annoying.
"Sure you think I’m annoying, i get that." The man said, scratching the back of his head with one hand.
"But, let’s move on to what’s at hand." He said, his expression turning serious all of a sudden.
"Yeah..." Harry muttered, agreeing with the man. "Where are we, what is this place?"
"Where we are you ask." The man said, letting out a low sigh.
"We are ’within’ the system Harry. This whole place... it’s all the system."
