Manaless Mage-Chapter 241: The power of time[1]
Chapter 241: The power of time[1]
He swiftly pulled out a small pencil from his pocket, staring at it for a few seconds before moving it towards the transparent green orb.
Although he wasn’t sure yet, he had a pretty good theory about what was happening, and he was eager to test it out.
He slowly placed the pencil inside the orb, causing its surface to light up with tiny green sparks.
It was a strange sensation, but he didn’t hate it.
The second the pencil entered into the orb, it froze in the air, with thin green sparks flickering around it.
After a few seconds, the transparent orb rapidly disintegrated, along with the clock, vanishing into thin air.
However, the pencil still remained still, frozen in mid-air.
Leon’s eyes slowly widened in awe as he observed the scene happening before his eyes.
’It’s just still... that sure defies the law of gravity doesn’t it?’ He thought, nodding his head in joy.
However, he didn’t think his new element was to manipulate gravity, it wouldn’t make much sense if it was.
From the clock that first appeared, and the green mist swirling around his arms, he already knew what his element, though it was still shocking, even to him.
"The pencil... it’s frozen in time." He mumbled, gently flicking one of his fingers at the object, but it didn’t budge in the slightest.
He didn’t need any one to tell him... he just knew.
Normally, it was supposed to drop to the ground immediately due to law of gravity, but since the time around it had been frozen, it simply hung still in the air.
"Astonishing..." Leon muttered, his lips curling into a smug smirk.
He had never heard of an Elementalist possessing the power to control time, and even the mere thought of it was simply bizarre.
But when he thought about it, he couldn’t really be classified as an ’Elementalist’ either.
He didn’t have a mana core foundation, neither could he sense or absorb mana. He was different, a person without mana... a manaless mage.
"Hehe." He let out a light chuckle, rustling his hand through his hair in excitement.
’I knew it... I really wasn’t cursed to be powerless. I have a power of my own... an amazing one...’ He thought, tiny drops of tears slowly pooling at the corner of his eyes.
Suddenly, his body became weary, and his eyesight started turning blurry.
"Agh..." He let out a light groan, feeling drowsy all of a sudden.
’My energy... seems like I used up too much.’ He mumbled inwardly, with a wry smile on his face.
His head started pounding with a painful headache, and his body immediately crashed to the bed in exhaustion.
Plop!
The moment his back hit the surface of the bed, the pencil dropped back to the ground and he instantly fell into a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, Harry was still reeling from the shock of what he just witnessed, and his thoughts kept flying all over the place.
’An element that lets you control time; the time element... I never expected that to be his first affinity.’ He thought.
However, the more he thought about it, he realised it wasn’t that strange. After all, the normal laws of the world didn’t exactly apply to Leon, since he was a manaless mage.
The first day he got the system, he remembered it telling him about three other affinities which weren’t compatible with humans.
The affinities included Darkness, space and the last... time affinity.
He had simply brushed them off to the back of his head, deciding to focus on the affinities he was more familiar with like lightning, fire, earth and so on.
’Time element... space and darkness elements... I still have a long way to go before comprehending all nine elements.’ Harry thought, before falling into a deep slumber along with Leon.

A week later...
"Hmm hmm hmm..." Leon hummed happily as he walked down the street, with one of his hands tucked in his pocket.
Today had being nothing short of a great day for him. All his classes went smoothly, and no one bothered to even look for his trouble, mostly due to the presence of Harry, his friend.
However, he was currently walking alone. Harry’s father suddenly came to pick him up, claiming it was an emergency, leaving him by himself.
He couldn’t help but wonder what had happened, but all he could do was push the matter to the back of his head and pray his friend was okay.
He doubted it was due to something actually important, as this wouldn’t be the first time something like this happened.
’Whatever, I shou—’
"Hey Leon!" A familiar voice suddenly sounded behind him, breaking him out of his thoughts.
"Can’t you hear someone’s calling you?! Dumbass!" Another loud shout followed, this time accompanied by an insult.
"Huh?" Leon mumbled, subconsciously turning to where the voices came from.
His eyes immediately met with that of a black haired boy, who kept cracking his knuckles in excitement.
He wasn’t along though, there were two other boys standing beside him, who Leon recognised very well.
"Didn’t I tell you Larry? He’ll surely be here..." One of the boys said, with a sinister smirk on his face.
"Yeah, and that brown haired idiot isn’t here to protect him this time." The other said, to which Larry snickered.
He was quite happy about this, as that meant they didn’t have to worry about anything stopping them from unleashing their furstration on the boy.
Leon’s gaze lingered on the trio of boys for a few seconds, before nonchalantly shrugging his shoulders.
"Ohh, it’s just you guys." He said, letting out a low sigh of annoyance.
"Didn’t you learn anything the last time Larry... like how to stay away from me?" He continued, his lips curling into a smug smirk.
"Y-you... I see you still like to run your mouth." Larry said, slowly walking towards Leon. "Harry isn’t here to protect you. I’d be more polite if I were you... yo—"
"Arrrgh..." Leon suddenly let out a fake yawn, using one hand to cover his mouth in boredom.
"Let’s skip all this dumb talk. You three are here to well... ’teach me a lesson’, isn’t it?" He said, causing Larry’s expression to twist into a frown.
"Come on then... I also have a few lessons of my own that I would like to teach you." He said, staring straight into Larry’s eyes, as he gently tucked his other hand into his pocket.
