Chapter 252: The aftermath

’Damn it!’ Leon thought, gnashing his teeth in anger.

The problem wasn’t just if she saw him though, it was if she knew the truth about his time powers!

’Why didn’t I think of this?! He thought, clenching his hands into a tight fist.

Now that he thought about it, he never bothered to check on her after that weird smoky face disappeared.

It was already clear that the smoke was the reason for her mana core corruption, and with it disappearing, it was only natural that she would be healed!

How come he never even considered that!!

’I really am so stupid...’ He mumbled inwardly, with a wry smile on his face.

His mind was so occupied with that strange smoky creature that he hadn’t bother to check on the condition of the woman before leading the room.

But how that she was healed, how was he supposed to explain himself in case she asked him any question?

’What if this—’

"Leon...? Honey? Lindt...?" The woman said, cutting Leon off his thoughts.

She slowly walked towards them, her brows furrowed into a slight frown.

Harry was tightly hugging her, with tears of joy streaming down his face.

Although he didn’t understand anything that just happened, he was overjoyed he could finally see and touch his mother again.

"Why are you all... staring at me like that?" She said, lightly rubbing the back of Harry.

"And... what are you all doing here in the first place...?" She muttered, her eyes narrowing deeply in confusion. "Wait... why am I even here?"

"H-huh... M-mrs Morton... I t-think..." Mr Lindt muttered, struggling to find the right words to say.

With how severe the corruption was, she shouldn’t have been in a coma for at least eight months, but, here she was, standing in front of him seemingly fine.

’Could the tests have been wrong...?’ He thought, his eyes slowly widening in shock. ’No, that couldn’t have been right. Her mana core was definitely corrupted!’

"The last thing I remember was being in that rift... and meeting this... strange mana beast." The woman said, completely ignoring the ginger haired man’s words.

She slowly rubbed her head, trying hardly to remember what really happened.

"It was really powerful." She muttered, her body trembling slightly in fear.

"It only stood in one position and before I knew it, all my team members were eliminated... I was the only one left standing." She mumbled, tightly gripping her head.

She could still vividly remember the helplessly she felt when facing that beast.

Despite being a powerful mage in her own rights, she hadn’t been able to lane even a single attack.

It toyed repeatedly with her, like her life was just something without value.

After climbing to the sixth mana core stage, she never thought a day would come when she be so helpless before an enemy.

The last thing she saw was the beast charging at her, before her sight was swallowed by darkness.

The next time she woke up, she found herself in that room, surrounded by drips and weird equipments.

"That’s all I remember... I don’t know how I got here." She said, narrating everything to them.

"I-it doesn’t matter... you’re okay." Mr Morton muttered, slowly walking towards her.

He gently held her shoulders, staring into her eyes to confirm if what he was seeing was really real and not just a fragment of his imagination.

"Yeah, I am." The woman said, the both of them hugging each other tightly.

"I’m sorry to break this up, but... I can’t let you leave this place." Mr Lindt suddenly said, rudely interrupting their reunion.

"I’ll need to report this to the higher ups first." He said, pausing for a second before continuing. "Your story isn’t clear, we still don’t know what really happened, or how you’re suddenly healed."

"We still need to run more tests, in order to be sure if it’s safe for you to leave the AMO."

Although he tried his best to sugarcoat his words, they all understood what he meant.

He was basically saying letting her leave like that could be a threat to the many lives outside, as the AMO wasn’t sure whether she was still under the effects of the mana corruption or not.

The power of an elemental mana was not to be underestimated, and the danger she could cause whether consciously or unconsciously would surely be disastrous.

"But she’s obviously fine now, why would you keep her locked up?!" Harry said, narrowing his eyes in annoyance at the short man.

Though the adventurer was a lot older than he was, Harry was taller than him, and the height difference between them made the scene look quite comical.

"I get you, but it’s just protocol. I’m sorry..." The man said, letting out a low sigh.

"It’s okay Harry." The woman said, placing one hand on the boy’s shoulder.

"I understand." She muttered, slightly nodding her head at the short man.

"Oh, and Leon, it’s sure been a long time." She suddenly said, turning to the blonde haired boy still seated on the chair.

"H-huh... yeah..." Leon replied, shaking his head awkwardly.

Due to her position in the AMO, Harry’s mother was usually busy, so he had onlymet a few times when he was younger.

But the few times they met, she had always been nice to him, so they still had a good relationship.

Nonetheless, that was the furthest thing on his mind right now. All he kept thinking about was how much trouble he would be in if it turned out she knew about his time element.

All he could imagine were the worst possible scenarios; like him ending up as an experiment or being haunted by the AMO throughout his life!

’At least she said she doesn’t remember anything except waking up in the room, but what if she wasn’t telling the whole truth?! What if she actually woke up and saw me—argh!!’ He felt like ripping out his hair from the stress,

’He’s acting quite weird today...’ Harry thought, narrowing his eyes at Leon. However, he didn’t think about it too much, feeling that he might just be nervous.

After a few minuets, they all moved to another location, discussing in lengths about all that happened.

Fortunately for Leon, it didn’t seem like Harry’s mother knew anything about what really happened in the room, which gave him a sense of relief.

’At least my secret’s safe... for now.’ He thought, his brows furrowing into a deep frown.

For some reason, he felt that this wouldn’t be the only strange thing that would happen to him, and there were still many more to come.

Year 2415

Fifteen years later,

A certain blonde haired man stood in front of a large mirror, examining himself with a slight smile on his face.

He was putting on a thick black suit, along with matching trousers and a shiny black shoe.

"Hah..." He sighed, closing his eyes as he reminisced about how far he had come in the last fifteen years.

After that day in the hospital, strange ’mana beasts’ started popping all around the world, causing chaos and damage wherever they went.

The world later came to know of their existence as "demons", and before long, an all out war was declared against them.

The war against the demons was tough and brutal, as a lot of lives were lost and a lot of blood was spilled.

Sooner or later, Leon found himself at the center of the war, and before he knew it, he was leading the humans in the fight against the demons. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

The more he fought, the more powerful he grew and the more he became familiar with the element of time.

The war lasted about ten years, with more powerful demons popping up each time they defeated another one.

It felt like an endless cycle, in which the more they fought against the demons, the harder they pressed back against them.

After a few years, the goal of the demons were uncovered by him and some of his trusted allies.

They had planned to take over the world, as their original world had been destroyed due to reasons still unknown till today.

Although it was tough, with his help, they were able to drive the demons out of the world forever.

The world praised him as a hero, and his name became forever etched in its history.

After the war, the AMO greatly promoted him, bestowing upon him the highest rank in the organisation—the black star!

Compared to himself from that day when he first awakened his time element, he was now a lot more powerful.

However, all that was in the past now, as the demons were fully defeated about five years ago.

During the last five years, there had been nothing but peace in the world, and people could now move about freely without worrying about any demon attack.

However, after all these, he still wasn’t satisfied.

As for the reason, it was because he still had one big question in his mind; one he hadn’t been able to find the answer to even after one and a half decade!

What exactly was his energy supposed to be? And where did it come from?

During the last decade, he had tried all he could to find out the truth about it, but all he kept running into were dead ends.

It was like... the ’answer’ itself was trying to run away from him!
