Chapter 264: Threads of time and fate

Leon’s gaze trembled in anger as he looked at the face of the arrogant Celestial.

Crack!

The green sparks in the air grew even more violent, darting all over the place.

He was about to reverse time, however, Kronos suddenly appeared, using a spell of his own to clash with his skill!

"I already knew you’d do something like this... I’ve made ample preparations already." Kronos said, the green clock behind him rapidly growing larger.

Swoosh!

Thick green waves continuously bursted out of the clock, colliding ferociously with Leon’s energy, creating a fierce and unyielding clash in the air.

The hands of the clock behind Leon were trying desperately to move anticlockwise, reflecting his will to reverse time.

While the one behind Kronos was doing the exact opposite, trying fervently to fast-forward the time.

The opposing energies created a tense standstill, with neither side willing to give in to the other.

With one side wanting to reverse time, and one side wanting to forward it, the flow of time in the universe remained unchanging.

Since the two attacks were about even in power, none of them could overpower the other.

Blitz!

The space between them crackled with power, as the clash between the two time mages rapidly grew even fiercer.

"At the end of the day, you’re still a time mage. I know about time mages more than anyone... when things get unfavourable for ’us’, we simply take it back to the beginning! Hahaha!" Kronos shouted, bursting out in a loud laughter.

"But let’s see you do that now, with me present here!" He exclaimed once more, flashing a wide grin at Leon.

Although Leon’s energy was still more powerful than his, he was currently pouring all his mana into that spell, making them somewhat even in power.

What he couldn’t make up for in quantity, he simple made up for in quantity!

Such a method was greatly tasking on his mana core, and he was under severe strain just by maintaining this spell, but he didn’t show it.

From the moment Orthon stabbed Leon’s heart, he had already taken position in the sky.

With Leon being so distracted by the sudden stab, he didn’t notice when Orthon clouded Kronos with his shadows, hiding him away from his sight.

Even Vordmont didn’t know about this, so he was equally clueless.

All this had been planned out by him, from the very moment he summoned Leon into his space.

It was the very reason why he took that huge risk in the first place.

He never planned on fighting squarely from the very start. After all, why fight fairly, when you could just win!

However, his expression suddenly turned serious, and a deep frown appeared on his face.

"You should have simply complied when I asked you to come with me, now I’m going to destroy you... and your world." He said, flashing a sinister grin down at Leon.

Upon hearing his words, Leon’s eyes immediately widened in shock, and he tightly clenched his fists in anger.

"Don’t you dare!!" He shouted, staring at Kronos while gritting his teeth in anger.

If only looks could kill, the celestial would have been dead a hundred times over, but unfortunately, they could not.

He bitterly came to a realisation... he had already fallen deep into Kronos’ trap, right from the very beginning of this fight!

With his current predicament, he couldn’t just cancel time rewind also.

If he rashly cancelled it, then Kronos’ spell would overpower his, fast-forwarding the time to the future.

He didn’t know what kind of future it would forward to, but he was sure either he or any of the people he loved wouldn’t be there.

He was currently stuck between a rock and a hard place... if he failed to reverse time, then he would surely die, and the celestials would completely destroy this world.

He was the only one powerful enough to stand up to them... his death would one hundred percent spell the doom of the earth.

If Kronos was so desperate to fast-forward time, it must mean he had a plan in mind, one that wouldn’t do him any good.

There was no other choice for him... other than to overpower the time celestial, and successfully reverse time! freewēbnoveℓ.com

However, that was easier said than done. His heart was pierced, with a gaping hole that sapped away at his life force with every beat.

Death was already knocking at his door and even channeling his energy was a lot more difficult than it normally was.

The fact that he was able to even hold on for this long was quite a miracle, caused only by the white flame within him.

"Seems like you’ve realised. Didn’t I tell you back then... that I’m not giving you a choice." Kronos said, suddenly stretching his hand towards Leon.

"Also... did you know, when there’s a clash between two powerful times mages like us, weaklings like those you were trying to protect... can’t bear the aftermath." He continued, the grin on his face widening in joy.

Spark!!

As he spoke, the green sparks from their clash suddenly crackled even more violently, rapidly spreading towards the ones behind him.

Spark!

One of the green sparks slightly touched on of the adventurers, and his body instantly disintegrated into tiny green particles, floating randomly in the air.

"Carl!!" Another adventurer shouted, stretching his hand out at the green pixels in horror.

However, his body soon dissolved into tiny green dots, vanishing into thin air.

After that, the green sparks kept striking more people, evaporating them into green particles.

A large number of people also followed, their bodies rapidly disintegrating into green dots.

The green particles floated in the air for a few seconds, before finally vanishing.

"If those green sparks touch even one of them, they’ll be evaporated from time itself... do you understand what that means?" Kronos said, staring at the green particles in amusement.

Time was like a thread, entwining side by side with fate and dictating the lives of people.

If a person never existed in time, then they were never present in the world. That little change meant one of the threads of fate binding people would be cut.

It didn’t matter how small the ’thread’ was, everything it affected whether directly it indirectly would also undergo a huge change.

Meaning if a person never existed in time, whoever or whatever they greatly influenced in the world would also cease to exist!

The members of the AMO were all linked together by fate... most of them had at one point saved one another from death, or gave them a reason to continue living.

The removal of even one of them from time, meant he/she never got to save whoever she saved.

The universe would take record of that, ’correcting’ everything into the way it ’would have been’.

So basically... the one saved from death would have never been saved, and the world would also eliminate them from time.

The same applied to every little action the ’evaporated person’ did to either directly or indirectly influence those around him.

It was a strange, yet very terrifying truth, which was what made the power of time one of the deadliest among all elements.

"N-no... no!!!" Leon shouted, biting his tongue in anger.

His eyes rapidly turned bloodshot, as he kept pouring more energy into time rewind, trying desperately to overpower Kronos’ spell.

’It’ll be fine... as long as i rewind time... they’ll all come back.’ He kept chanting within himself, blood dripping from the corner of his lips.

However at that moment, a familiar voice suddenly pierced through his ears.

"L-Leon... I’m sorry..." Anna said, tears dripping down her eyes as she stared at her hands, which were rapidly dissolving into green particles.

This Chapter was quite difficult to write, but I did my every best to explain everything properly. Don’t forget to drop power stones and golden tickets if you enjoyed it, just the way I enjoyed writing it.
