Chapter 308: Chapter 308: A Snob

Miranda raised an eyebrow, her emerald eyes narrowing slightly as she studied Harry’s relaxed posture.

Despite her irritation, she couldn’t help but notice how the morning sun filtered through the leaves, casting dappled light across his tousled brown hair and sharp features.

The way he lounged effortlessly on the branch, with an air of nonchalance, made her heart skip a beat.

’He’s really handsome,’ She thought, a slight blush creeping up her cheeks.

The image of him, silhouetted against the golden sunlight, was almost ethereal.

She quickly shook her head, chastising herself for such thoughts. This was neither the time nor place for distractions.

Her expression turned serious as she called up to him, "Why are you just sitting there? There’s a tournament going on, you know."

Harry glanced down at her, his pitch-black eyes meeting hers with a calm, almost indifferent gaze. He shrugged, the corners of his mouth lifting in a faint smirk.

"I don’t see much point in participating," He replied nonchalantly. "Whether I do or not doesn’t really matter."

To him, it was a simple truth. He had already amassed 200 points, placing him firmly at the top of the leaderboard.

Actively hunting down other participants felt unnecessary, almost like bullying. He was already leagues above the rest; exerting more effort seemed redundant.

However, to anyone else hearing those words, his attitude would come across as sheer arrogance.

Being first didn’t exempt him from the competition; it was a challenge to maintain that position, not an excuse to rest on his laurels.

Miranda’s brows furrowed in confusion. "Being first doesn’t mean you shouldn’t participate anymore," She said, her tone laced with a mix of disbelief and admonishment.

Harry tilted his head, genuinely puzzled by her reaction. "I’m not saying that," He clarified. "I just don’t see the need to go out of my way when there’s no real competition."

Miranda crossed her arms, her gaze unwavering.

"That’s not the point. This tournament isn’t just about points; it’s about pushing your limits, testing your skills against others. By sitting here, you’re not only mocking your peers but also yourself."

Harry considered her words, his brows twitching in annoyance.

’Mocking.. is that what she really thinks of this?’ He thought.

He hadn’t thought of it that way. To him, the tournament was a means to an end, a way to gauge his progress.

However, he had already done that, and realised he was actually too far above even the geniuses of this world.

Though he had already expected it, the way he was able to easily knock them down even with a simple wave of his hand made things a bit too boring for him.

He wasn’t a sadist who loved to see others suffer, neither did he like to do any unnecessary work.

But still, the feeling of being so powerful... he actually loved it a lot.

He looked down at Miranda, noting the determination in her eyes. She wasn’t just here to win; she was here to prove something, perhaps to herself, perhaps to others.

However, whatever she might be trying to proof wasn’t his business, neither would it stop him from enjoying this moment of bliss.

He simply sighed, resting his head back on the tree.

’It’s more like im pitying them though, but well, it doesn’t matter anyway.’ He thought.

The only reason he was attacking actively as he did before was because he received a quest to defeat over fifteen students.

[Quest "Defeat over 15 participants" Completed!]

[Reward Granted: +10000EXP]

The EXP reward wasn’t much, in comparison with the eight hundred thousand he needed to level up again.

But then, it was something he would never joke with.

Meanwhile, below the tree, Miranda’s brows kept twitching in furstration.

’Is he... ignoring me?’ She thought, her eyes narrowing even further.

The thought clawed at her chest, a mix of indignation and disbelief surging through her veins.

She had spoken—directly addressed him, challenged him—and he had the gall to simply lean back and stare at the sky as if she weren’t even there?

Her fists clenched at her sides, fingers digging into her palms. A quiet gnash of her teeth echoed in her head as frustration bubbled over.

’So this is the boy who’s ranked first?’ she thought bitterly. ’When I saw the name Harry Ainsworth at the top of the scoreboard, I expected someone impressive. Maybe someone quiet and mysterious, or even a bit arrogant but worthy of respect. But this...’

She scowled.

’This is just a snob who can’t even bother to regard others. Does he think he’s that special?’

The way he rested on the branch, head tilted back, eyes closed in serene disinterest—it only fanned the flames of her irritation.

Her eyes narrowed as she stepped forward, the wind shifting around her like it sensed the tension crackling in the air.

She raised her hand slowly, deliberately, until it was stretched out before her.

From the center of her palm, a radiant glow began to form—soft at first, like the first gleam of dawn, but rapidly intensifying.

The light swelled with power, humming faintly, then building into a piercing hum.

Vmmm!

A golden-white sphere spiraled into existence, compressed energy twisting and writhing as if alive.

Her eyes locked on Harry, who remained unmoved.

’Let’s see if this gets your attention.’ She thought, the edges of her lips curling up slightly.

With a sharp flick of her wrist and a burst of magical intent, the light surged.

Shzzzzzzoooom!

A thin, searing beam of light burst from her hand, slicing through the air with terrifying speed.

The surrounding leaves rustled violently as it passed, a sonic crack echoing like a whip through the forest.

It shot toward Harry like a divine spear, humming with purpose, its radiance reflecting off every surface it passed. The birds nearby scattered in panic, screeching into the sky.

Harry’s ears twitched.

His eyes snapped open, pupils narrowing sharply as he instinctively turned his head.

’What—?’ He thought, his face squeezing into a frown.

Boom!

The beam immediately struck the branch he was on, evaporating the whole tree in cinders.ƒгeewёbnovel.com
