Manaless Mage-Chapter 309: The fight just started
Chapter 309: Chapter 309: The fight just started
Miranda frowned, her emerald eyes narrowed as she stared at the ashes of the tree drifting lazily through the air.
The once-sturdy branch Harry had been lounging on was now nothing more than glowing embers and faint wisps of smoke dancing in the breeze.
The scorched trunk split apart with a faint crack, its remains collapsing with a soft thud.
She hadn’t expected to completely obliterate the entire tree, but she didn’t regret it either.
If he wouldn’t listen, she would force him to. Her arms dropped to her sides, and her brows furrowed in annoyance.
But before she could relax, a voice—calm, cool, and unmistakably amused—sounded behind her.
"That’s a bit rude, don’t you think?"
Her heart skipped a beat.
She turned around in a flash, her boots grinding into the scorched earth, only to see him.
Harry Ainsworth.
Standing there. Completely unscathed.
There were no signs of burns on him, not even a single scratch on his uniform.
His dark brown hair fluttered slightly in the breeze, his black eyes half-lidded, and his expression annoyingly nonchalant—as though he hadn’t just narrowly dodged such a powerful attack.
She instinctively leapt backward, her body reacting faster than her thoughts. Her chest rose and fell quickly as her mind tingled with worry.
’When...? How did he...?’ She thought, narrowing her eyes at Harry.
She hadn’t felt any mana from him, neither had she even seen him move. There was no sound... nothing, it was like he just appeared behind her.
Her hand shot down to her waist, and in one swift motion, her twin daggers were drawn.
The obsidian blades shimmered faintly in the light, arcs of static dancing along their edges.
Her expression hardened, all traces of earlier frustration replaced by wariness and focus.
Harry raised a brow at her sudden hostility, a faint smirk playing at the edge of his lips.
"No need to get so serious," He said lazily, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "You attacked me first, remember?"
As he spoke, a blue-tinted window appeared before him.
[New Quest: Defeat Miranda Blackheart]
[Reward: +10000 EXP]
Harry’s lips curled into a faint grin. The same type of quest as before—simple, straightforward. Not much EXP, but a clean bonus for what he considered light exercise.
His eyes drifted to Miranda, her stance tense, daggers glowing, wind tossing her raven-black hair. He tilted his head slightly.
"Well, since you started this... I hope you’re ready for the consequence."
Miranda let out a dry, humorless chuckle, her eyes never leaving his.
"So you do find this tournament boring, huh?" she said, lowering her body slightly into a fighting stance. "Don’t worry. I’ll make it interesting for you."
Without another word, her legs lit up with a brilliant white flash.
Swoosh!
The earth beneath her cracked from the force as she launched herself forward in a burst of speed.
Harry’s brows twitched as she closed in like a flash of white lightning.
She came at him fast—blindingly so.
Twin blades aimed straight at his chest, the air howling with the force of her charge.
Her movements were precise, honed through years of training and countless battles.
She wasn’t just throwing herself at him. Every strike had intent. Every motion flowed with lethal grace.
It looked like she was about to land the hit.
But just as her blade was about to make contact, Harry moved.
A subtle step.
Effortless. Minimal.
Yet it completely removed him from her path.
Her daggers sliced through empty air, missing his body by mere inches.
Miranda’s eyes widened in disbelief. She skidded to a halt, her boots dragging lines across the dirt.
She turned sharply, her body instinctively preparing for retaliation—but none came.
He just stood there, hands still in his pockets, watching her with a neutral gaze.
She could hardly believe it.
’That speed... I didn’t even sense him using mana. He didn’t reinforce his legs. He didn’t teleport. He didn’t even blink.’ She thought. ’Could it be... that he’s only using his natural speed?’
The realization sent a chill down her spine.
She didn’t hesitate. Not this time.
Her body spun in a tight arc, and as she turned, the air around her blades crackled loudly. Sparks erupted from the edges of her daggers, and in an instant, a dense coating of lightning surged across the surface of both weapons.
Bzzt!
She clenched her jaw as the raw power hummed in her ears. Her daggers, now glowing with pure voltage, pulsed in rhythm with her heartbeat. The air around her shimmered from the intensity of the energy.
"This ends now!" she yelled, charging again.
She slashed in a cross pattern, sending arcs of lightning in sweeping bursts across the air. The ground scorched beneath her steps as she pursued Harry with renewed fury.
But Harry’s figure shifted again—casually.
He stepped back, leaned just enough, and ducked with fluid motion. His body moved with an elegance that defied logic. Every dodge was smooth, efficient, almost lazy.
And he still hadn’t drawn a weapon.
’He’s playing with me.’
The thought stabbed into her pride, and she gritted her teeth.
One of her arcs missed by a fraction, slicing into a large rock nearby. It exploded on contact, reduced to molten shards in an instant.
Harry didn’t flinch.
"You’re strong," He remarked, his tone still calm. ’Most people would’ve exhausted themselves trying that last combo.’
Miranda didn’t answer.
Instead, she lunged again—faster this time, zigzagging through the terrain as electricity coiled tighter around her arms and legs.
She used the momentum from her earlier strikes to twist in midair and bring both daggers down on him with a double-bladed overhead strike.
Without even blinking, Harry raised a hand—and caught both blades between his fingers.
Miranda gasped, her body trembling as the impact halted.
The force should’ve at least staggered him.
Instead, he stood there—completely still.
He wasn’t just fast.
He was insanely strong also!
’What... what is this guy?’ She thought, gnashing her teeth. ’I have no choice... I’ll have to go all out!’
She previously thought she would be able to easily dominate Harry just by relying on her speed and elemental power, but it seemed like she was wrong.
Swoosh!
A powerful blast of wind suddenly bursted out of her daggers, hitting Harry right in the face.
The force behind the blast sent him flying backwards, but before he hit the ground, he quickly spun in the air, landing back on his feet.
’That’s more like it.’ He thought, his lips curling up slightly. ’She’s finally using her true power!’
He could sense that a bit of his H/P had dropped from taking that attack, but he didn’t care much.
He had to admit, the thought of fighting a true once in a million years genius was truly exciting, especially one that had already developed to the fourth stage.
He wondered, how would his current self compare to the might of a stage four Elementalist?
But to his surprise, Miranda didn’t attack immediately, instead, she leapt backwards, staring at him with narrowed eyes.
’What the hell is he?’ She thought, clicking her tongue.
"Aren’t you going to attack?" Harry taunted, flashing a smug smirk at the girl. freēnovelkiss.com
"Don’t get too cocky." She said, clenching her fists.
Swoosh!
A large amount of wind suddenly exploded from her body, violently sweeping across the forest.
"This fight just started." She said, summoning ten light swords around her.
