Married To My Ex's Brother, Reborn Miraculously-Chapter 236: You are not my daughter.
Chapter 236: You are not my daughter.
Denis mistook her silence for belief. He held her hands firmly. "I’m telling you the truth," he said desperately. "I dug into his past. His success, his wealth—it’s all built on shadows. He is not just a businessman. He was a savage underground fighter... ruthless and feared."
Pulling out his phone, Denis swiped quickly and turned the screen toward her. A series of images flashed—Augustine in a blood-streaked fighting ring, fists clenched, eyes blazing, his body marked with bruises and scars. His feral expression could chill anyone’s blood.
"Look at this," Denis pointed at the screen. "This is who he really is. They call him the devil. Rumors said that he had a strong connection with the mafia king. Do you still want to stay by the side of a man like him?"
Anne stared at the photos. She had seen Augustine’s world and accepted its dangers, but seeing these brutal images stirred unease. She feared what Denis might do. Would he use these images to manipulate Augustine?
"You are in danger with him," Denis insisted. "Leave him before it’s too late."
A steely voice sliced through the moment like a blade. "Let her go."
Both Anne and Denis turned to the source of the voice. Anne saw Sam standing a few paces away, his expression carved from stone. His clenched jaw, the cold glint in his eyes, and the quiet tension in his muscular frame all screamed a silent threat. He was ready to fight.
Denis immediately dropped Anne’s hands, his bravado shrinking in Sam’s intimidating presence. Without another word, he backed away, spun on his heel, and disappeared down the street, never daring to glance back.
Anne shrugged, relieved that Denis didn’t make a scene.
Sam’s eyes followed him until he vanished, then shifted to Anne.
"Madam, are you alright?" Sam asked, his gaze scanning her face.
Anne gave a small nod, still slightly breathless from the encounter. "I’m fine," she murmured.
"I’m sorry," Sam said sincerely. "I received a call and got distracted for a second."
Anne lifted her hand, stopping his apology. "It’s alright. Just... don’t mention this to your boss, okay? He already has too much on his plate. I don’t want to add to it."
Sam hesitated. He knew Augustine would never forgive him if he found out Anne had been left unguarded, even for a moment. He gave a short nod. "Understood. I won’t say a word. But please, Madam... don’t walk off alone again. Let me stay close."
She managed a faint smile. "Okay."
Her eyes drifted toward the corner where Denis had vanished before she turned around and made her way back toward the house. Sam followed her closely this time.

Nathan received a call from the hospital.
"The paternity test report is ready."
As he heard the words, his heart surged with hope. "I am coming," he said excitedly.
Without delaying another moment, he went to the hospital with his mother. On the way, he also informed Anne, asking her to meet them there.
Since Augustine was tied up with back-to-back meetings, Anne decided not to disturb him. She left quietly.
Nathan and Margaret arrived first, their footsteps quick, expressions alight with nervous anticipation. But that flicker of hope died the moment the report was handed to them.
Nathan read the words in disbelief. The report clearly stated that Anne shared no biological relation to them.
"What? That can’t be right." His voice rose in protest as he stared at the doctor. His fingers clutched the paper tighter. "There has to be a mistake. She had the pendant, and her resemblance to Raya and my mother is undeniable."
Margaret’s face went pale. She stared blankly, the sudden loss of hope like a blow to her chest.
"Are you sure you did the test correctly?" Nathan asked skeptically.
The doctor hesitated for a fraction of a second but quickly straightened his stance. "I’ve been in this field for years. The test was done properly. The result is accurate." Without waiting for further questions, he turned and walked away.
Margaret swayed, her legs buckling under the weight of disappointment. Nathan caught her just in time.
"Mommy..." he cried, gripping her shoulders and guiding her toward the row of chairs nearby. "Please, sit down."
He helped her into a seat. "Don’t lose hope. This isn’t over. Something is wrong here. I’m sure of it. I’ll take the test again at another hospital. We’ll get the truth."
Margaret, lost in a storm of sorrow, couldn’t hear Nathan’s words. Her eyes brimmed with tears, her voice trembling. "I’ll never see my Raya again... She is gone. I lost her. It’s all my fault..." Her sobs grew louder as she broke down in despair.
"Don’t say that," Nathan pleaded, crouching in front of her. "Please don’t give up. I know she is alive. I know Anne is Raya. There must be some error in the test. She has the pendant, remember?"
Margaret suddenly stiffened, anger overtaking her grief. "If she truly is my daughter, why does the test say otherwise?" she shouted. "That pendant is not enough to prove that she is Raya. She could’ve stolen it from Raya. How do we know she didn’t?"
Then, as if something inside her snapped, she clutched Nathan by the shoulders, shaking him with a haunted look in her eyes. "She is an impostor. She took my daughter’s pendant. I want my Raya. Bring her back to me!"
"Mommy, please... calm down," Nathan begged, holding her trembling hands, unsure how to soothe.
Just then, a voice cut through the chaos like a sudden gust of wind. "What’s going on here?"
Nathan’s heart froze when he saw Anne standing a few feet away, her brows furrowed in concern.
Before he could respond, Margaret stood abruptly, fury overtaking her reason.
"Where did you get that pendant?" she demanded. Her face twisted with grief-stricken rage as she stepped forward. "You took it from my daughter, didn’t you? Where is she? What have you done with Raya?"
Before Anne could react, Margaret gripped her by the shoulders and began shaking her violently.

"Mommy, stop!" Nathan rushed forward and pulled his mother back. "You are scaring her."
Margaret staggered slightly, breathing heavily, her eyes still wild with pain. Anne stood frozen, her heart pounding in confusion and disbelief. Her limbs refused to move as she watched the woman before her.
This woman was supposed to be her mother. Her real mother. But all Anne could see now was a stranger, blinded by grief and rage.
"You don’t get it, Nathan," Margaret snapped, shaking in fury. "That girl knows something. She is hiding something. She stole that pendant. I am sure she did something to Raya."
Anne’s heart sank. "Mom... I am your daughter," she said, her lips trembling.
"Don’t call me that," Margaret thundered, her voice echoing in the corridor. "You are not my daughter."
