Married to the loveless CEO-Chapter 54: Thank you
Their eyes held each other’s.
"Please get off me," she requested. He stood up and move a little bit away from her. She stood up as well, her hand brought some hair to the back of her ear awkwardly.
"You should go freshen up," she said picking up the blanket. Lines appeared on her forehead when she saw how his blood tainted her couch.
’More work for her!’ she thought.
"Where’s my gun?" he asked.
"I kept it for you..." she trailed off and walked over to a drawer, she collected his gun from it.
"Here," she handed it to him.
He collected it from her, his eyes so fixed on her.
"There’s a room on this floor, just move to your right you’ll see it, it’s unlocked. I put all the things you will need to freshen up including something to protect your wound as you take your bath.
"There’s also some clothes and footwear, your previous ones are in the drying machine and your shoes are over there at the shoe rack," she took a pause as he glanced at his foot and realized that he was truly just on his stockings.
"Uhm...When you are done, come back for breakfast...It’s almost ready, I still need to clean up my sliding doors, you tainted everything and everywhere with blood.
"I’d have checked if your blood tainted the streets but fortunately, there was a heavy downpour later in the night, last night..." she continued, emphasizing so much, Fi tried so hard to zoom out her voice. She was so talkative, almost as if she was nagging him, like a nagging wife.
"Are you always this talkative?" he asked and she stopped talking.
"I’ll just go freshen up, I want to make a phone call when I get back, understand?" he added and walked away towards the room Cia had refer to earlier.
"Rude!" she voiced after he left.
’Not even a thank you,’ she thought.
...
Fi had just finished showering. After he dried up with a towel, he put on the sweatpants which Cia had given to him.
It was actually a pair of sweatpants and sweatshirt she had ordered but it was too oversized for her and so she never wore it and just kept it in her closet. It finally came in handy.
Facing the enlarged mirror, he removed the thing he had used to protect his wound, he stared at the wound for some while before he wore the sweatshirt and walked out of the room.
He saw Sentencia who was done cleaning up and was now setting the table. The girl looked really familiar.
Her eyes glanced at him.
"Oh, you’re done. Come have breakfast," she said.
"I want my phone call first," he requested for her phone. He had forgot to bring his phone along with him when fleeing.
"Is that your way of requesting for something? It’s rude! And you haven’t even thanked me yet for saving your life," she responded.
"Are you forgetting your life is in my hands? I have a gun and I can-"
"So you would really still kill me after saving your life, making breakfast for you and also not calling the cops on you when you obviously must be a criminal," she cuts him off.
"A criminal?" he repeated.
"Yes, or why else do you have a gun? Are you a cop?" she questioned and he scoffed.
"Can I just please make a phone call?" he asked again. Reluctantly, she gave her phone to him.
He took the phone and walked towards where her TV was, his eyes glancing at some of her items on the drawer below the TV.
The number he had been dialing finally picked up.
"Hey Caleb," Fi said.
{Boss, Fi how are you? Where are you?!}
"I’m fine, calm down," Fi replied.
{Okay boss but where are you?}
Fi stared at Cia; "Where is this place?" he asked and Cia told him her address. She didn’t feel too comfortable with telling him her address. Why the heck was she even helping this stranger?!
"Come to me at night, bring some clothes and money," Fi continued.
{Why at night?}
"Stop asking stupid questions. Night is the safest for me. Just do as I say, okay? And make sure no one follows you," Fi replied. He doesn’t want to put this woman that helped him, in any danger.
{Copy that}
Fi hanged up and deleted the number, he turned to Cia and gave her her phone.
Till night?! She can’t believe she has to spend the whole day with this man.
"Alright, let’s dig in," she said not bothering to pester him with questions about who he was on the phone with or who the hell was he?
"So, Sentencia Norman, you are a doctor, no wonder you were so confident when removing the bullet yesterday," he started, she stared at him in awe.
"How do you know my name?" she asked.
"(Scoff) Relax, I saw it on your awards over there," he nodded towards the drawer below the TV. She let out a breath.
"But you do look familiar," he said though he already remembered who she was and how he had met her. But she doesn’t seem to remember him.
"Yes, you too. You ring a bell but I can’t seem to remember," she shrugged.
"Do you remember clearly? Do tell me and help me recall?" she continued.
He stared at her, his gaze on her softened gradually. He won’t tell her nor remind her, how they met was a bittersweet memory that happened years ago, he wouldn’t like to remind her of it.
"I don’t remember too," he lied.
"Okay," she shrugged.
’But I’ll try to remember,’ she thought.
"Won’t you go to work today? Or don’t you?" he asked.
"It’s the weekend, I don’t have shifts except it’s an emergency. And it’s a good thing, I can’t leave my house to you," she reasoned, his lips pulled up in a grin at her last remark.
After they finished eating, Cia gave him some meds for him to take to help his wound heal faster and she also added the blood supplements from yesterday.
Cia got dressed in a gardening attire which consisted of an apron, boots and gloves, as she got ready to go replant the flowers he destroyed. Fi walked towards her.
"Let me help you out, though I’m no expert at planting flowers," he warned in advance.
"You want to help?" she asked.
"Yes. I never said thank you, take it as part of my ways of saying thank you for all that you did for me," he replied.
"Part? Ways?" she picked out those two words.
"Yes. You’ll see," he responded.
She gave him some gloves, boots and apron as well to protect him from getting dirt on the sweat clothes.
He squatted down close to her as she started planting the flowers. All he did was watch, at some point, watching just her. Her eyes went to his.
"What?" she asked.
’You’ve grown,’ he wanted to say. He never expected the crybaby to have grown into a much more beautiful and independent young woman.
"Nothing," he said instead, his eyes returning to the flowers.
"Okay!" They both stood up once Cia was done planting the flowers. She gave the watering hose to him, which he took.
"You didn’t do any work but stare at me and my flowers, so now your job is to water the flowers," she smiled at him. He returned the smile and started watering the flowers.
He suddenly started watering her instead.
"Ah, hey stop," she chuckled, not mad about it at all. He laughed and continued bathing her with the hose, she used her hands to divert it to him.
They laughed as they played with the watering hose like teenagers.
Cia stared at the man who was wiping himself dry with a small towel. They were back in her house, she had changed into new clothes as she was the one who got wet the most.
She can’t believe how freely she had had fun with this stranger as if she had knew him for a long time. She doesn’t understand how she could feel so at ease with him.
At first she thought he was a rude, dark and cold person, which he was but he only softened up after remembering who she was and how much she meant to him.
"Speak," he said as if knowing she had something to say.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"You don’t need to know. But my name’s Fi, Fi for Finland but I’d prefer you call me just Fi," he said and she nodded with a smile.
They hanged out indoorly for the rest of the day doing random stuffs.
It was 9PM now.
The door bell finally rung. Fi stood up from the couch he had been lying on. He picked up his gun defensively as he moved closer to the main door.
He stared into the door hole. It was Caleb.
He opened it. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Fi," Caleb said. He and another man walked into Cia’s house.
Cia was on her toes. She hasn’t had this much men in her living room, talkless of strangers.
"Here are the things you wanted," Caleb added. His eyes glancing at Cia briefly.
"Are you sure no one followed you?" Fi asked.
"Yes Fi. We also took care of Z-group yesterday. After finishing them up at where they had attacked us, we went further to their hideout and raided them.
"We collected the merchandise back and didn’t give them no refunds," Caleb chuckled at the last part, Fi joined him.
"That will teach them not to ever think of double crossing us again," Fi responded. Cia understood nothing of what the men were conversing.
Fi opened one of the bags, he zipped it closed again and gave it to Cia.
"Here, this is for you," Fi said handing the bag to her, which she collected reluctantly. What could it be?
She opened it to see and almost passed out. She hasn’t seen this much money in her life.
Was that why he had asked for some money earlier when he was on the phone?
