Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 76: Her Birthday, His Password
In the field for birthdate, it clearly states Chloe Foster’s birthdate—
September 21, 19XX.
September 21?
Seeing this date, Seraphina Thorne naturally thought of Ethan Sterling’s password.
His phone unlock code is 0921, and the password for his apartment at The Paramount Gardens is also 0921.
Previously, Seraphina was a bit curious about what special meaning these numbers had for Ethan Sterling, for him to use these digits for all his passwords.
So, it was Chloe Foster’s birthday.
Placing the telephone receiver back in its place, the image of Ethan Sterling supporting and comforting Chloe Foster in the clinic that day flashed through Seraphina’s mind again.
Could it be...
Ethan Sterling likes Chloe Foster?!
"Hello, who’s this?"
Chloe Foster’s voice came through the receiver.
"Oh, it’s me!" Seraphina snapped back to reality, "You’re Chloe, right? It’s Seraphina Thorne. I wanted to inform you that your formal interview will be on Monday at 9 AM, so please remember to come by the group then."
"Really? Thank you, thank you!" Chloe Foster immediately replied with a laugh, "Seraphina, I really owe you for helping me this time."
"It’s nothing."
"I’m just at the supermarket, buying lots of ingredients... Isn’t it the weekend today? You should bring your husband over, let’s have a barbecue together, it’s settled then, I’ll see you tonight!"
Without giving Seraphina a chance to refuse, Chloe Foster directly hung up the phone.
All day long, Seraphina was thinking about that password situation.
Even though she repeatedly told herself that this was Ethan Sterling’s private matter, something she had no right to meddle with.
However, Seraphina simply could not control herself.
After getting off work in the afternoon, she drove the Cullinan away from the ensemble and instead of turning right, she absentmindedly went straight, arriving at the parking lot below Sterling & Co.
Getting a glimpse of the parking lot outside her window, Seraphina realized what she was doing and quickly attempted to turn the car around to leave.
"Seraphina!"
The elevator doors parted, and Ethan Sterling emerged with Sean Hale.
Seeing her car, he waved with a smile, so Seraphina had to stop the car.
Ethan slid into the passenger seat with a beaming face.
"Here to pick your husband up from work, so sweet?"
Seraphina was still contemplating whether to mention Chloe Foster’s dinner invitation, but Ethan started speaking first.
"Nathan just called, inviting us over for a barbecue at his place."
"Really?" Seraphina cleared her throat, "Then... do you want to go?"
Leaning back against the seat, Ethan furrowed his brows but said nothing.
Seraphina observed his expression, "If you don’t feel like going, then... we could always reschedule?"
"No need." Ethan seemed to have made up his mind, raising his right hand to rest it behind his head, "We’re going to have to go sooner or later, might as well be today!"
Seraphina picked up on something strange in his tone.
Suspecting it might have something to do with Chloe Foster, she pressed her lips together and refrained from asking further questions.
In a moment, the Cullinan exited the garage and turned onto the Third Ring Road.
Throughout the drive, Seraphina silently drove while Ethan remained unspoken as well.
As they approached the Sovereign Villa District, Ethan suddenly sat up straight from the passenger seat.
"Stop the car!"
Seraphina stopped by the roadside and turned to face him.
"What’s wrong?"
Ethan didn’t reply, simply fished out a cigarette from his pocket and placed it in his mouth.
With a glance at Seraphina, he placed the lighter back into his pocket.
Seraphina noticed Ethan seemed a bit tense.
Recently, as they’d been spending more time together, she’d come to understand him somewhat.
Ethan rarely smokes unless he’s nervous or upset.
"I just suddenly remembered..." Ethan smiled to cover up, "It wouldn’t be appropriate for us to show up empty-handed, wait for me while I grab a bottle of wine from the nearby store."
Ethan pushed open the door and got out of the car.
After a while, he returned with a newly purchased bottle of champagne.
Seraphina caught whiffs of a strong cigarette smell on him.
The smoke irritated her throat, making her cough a little in response as she raised her left hand to her mouth.
Seeing her cough, Ethan frowned and opened the car door again.
"I’ll sit in the back."
Seeing him move to the rear seats, Seraphina instinctively bit her lip.
Was he sitting in the back on purpose to distance himself, out of fear that Chloe might see?
After being together for so long, it was the first time Ethan chose to sit so far from her while in the car.
The strong, domineering Ethan, nervous just at the thought of meeting a woman.
It seemed that her suspicions were correct.
Ethan...
likes Chloe Foster!
"Is something wrong?"
Seeing her not starting the car, Ethan asked with concern from the backseat.
"Nothing." Seraphina regained her composure, throwing out a random excuse, "I just noticed you didn’t buckle up."
"That’s why you’re the best, babe." Ethan joked and buckled his seatbelt, "All set, your husband is now safe, let’s go!"
Seraphina restarted the car, and the sea-blue Cullinan drove onto the lane.
Soon, they turned into the Sovereign Villa District and stopped in front of the Foster Villa.
In the garden, Chloe Foster was carrying out the prepared ingredients.
Recognizing Seraphina’s car, Chloe Foster hastily set down the tray in her hands and walked over.
Opening the fence gate to the garden, she approached the car side with a smile.
"You’re here just in time. I’ve just finished preparing everything..." Supporting Seraphina as she got out of the car, Chloe Foster glanced at the empty passenger seat and chuckled softly, "What, are you afraid I’ll steal your husband and didn’t even dare to bring him over?"
Seraphina spoke softly, "He’s in the back."
"Is that so? Then I must see what handsome guy managed to marry our beautiful Seraphina."
Chloe Foster turned, seeing Ethan Sterling stepping out from the backseat on the other side of the car.
Her fingers holding the barbecue tongs trembled.
Clang!
The tongs slipped from her grip, clattering onto the stone-paved walkway.
