Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 80: Truly in Love? How Is That Possible! (2)
Prodded by Claire Clayton at a sore spot, Julia Chamberlain let out a cold snort.
"Seraphina Thorne, I remember a few years ago when you competed, your preliminary score was a perfect hundred. After playing the violin for a few more years... you actually scored less. It seems you’re regressing!"
"What if I’m regressing?" Seraphina blocked Claire, who wanted to defend her, and smiled coolly, "Even if I’m regressing, I still beat you easily."
Her words were piercing and stinging.
Spending time around Ethan Sterling these days, Seraphina’s sharp tongue and retort skills had become more adept.
One sentence left Julia Chamberlain breathless, her face pale, completely speechless.
"Ha..." Claire Clayton chuckled beside her, "Did you hear that, Miss Chamberlain? You... better go practice for a few more years!"
Laughing, she linked arms with Seraphina and walked off the stage together.
"Seraphina, you’re really skilled at retorts."
With a sidelong glance at Julia Chamberlain, Claire lowered her voice.
"That woman just now... do you know her?"
"Yes." Seraphina stuffed the invitation in her backpack, "She’s my ex-fiancé’s sister."
"No wonder!" Claire glanced at Julia Chamberlain not far off, pouting, "Originally the sister of a scumbag, no wonder she’s so trashy; must be in the genes. And to think she shares a character with my name, really taints the name Chen!"
Seraphina was amused, "You call me sharp-tongued, but you’re no worse than I am."
Claire stuck out her tongue, "I can’t stand people like her the most."
"Let’s go!" Seraphina picked up her violin, affectionately linking arms with her, "I drove here, let me give you a ride."
"Alright, I won’t be polite then!" Claire walked towards the exit with her, still marveling, "But come to think of it, this time the sponsors are really generous. I heard the champion in the national division gets a million in prize money, even more than the grand prize in the finals!"
As they walked towards the exit together, Julia Chamberlain shot them a sidelong glance and picked up her violin to leave as well.
"Miss Chamberlain, please wait a moment."
A gentle female voice sounded behind her.
Julia Chamberlain turned her face to see a girl in a beige coat smiling as she approached from the stands not far off.
Glancing at the other up and down, Julia Chamberlain spoke warily.
"What’s up?"
"The head judge, David, is my teacher from abroad, and I’m a volunteer for the competition."
Julia Chamberlain glanced at the work badge on the other’s chest, where the name read Chloe Foster.
Upon hearing the other’s teacher was the head judge, Julia Chamberlain immediately smiled and extended her right hand.
"It’s Miss Foster, nice to meet you."
Chloe Foster smiled as she shook hands with her.
"Actually, my mentor gave you many points, it’s just that the scores from other judges lowered your overall score. I think your performance is excellent, it might just not suit the judges’ tastes. If it’s convenient for Miss Chamberlain, shall we... have a cup of coffee together?"
Getting to know insiders and learning more about the judges’ preferences could definitely help the competition.
Such an invitation, of course, Julia Chamberlain would not refuse.
"Sure, sure! I know a place nearby with great coffee, it’s on me!"
Chloe Foster smiled, "I need to speak to my mentor first, we’ll meet at the café later."
"Great, I’ll wait for you."
Julia Chamberlain waved her hand cheerfully, left with her violin.
As Julia Chamberlain walked away, Chloe Foster lifted her hand, took off her glasses, and walked to the head judge of the organizing committee.
Head judge David turned with a smile, "Thank you so much today for helping me translate and volunteer."
"How could I mind?" Chloe Foster smiled warmly, "It’s my honor to help you, but I have something to attend to, I’ll go to the hotel to see you later." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
After saying goodbye to Cole, Chloe Foster took out her phone from her coat pocket and opened the photos on it.
The information was taken from Nathan Foster’s folder.
Included were photos and information about Seraphina’s brother, along with related details about Adrian Chamberlain.
From the first glance at Julia Chamberlain, Chloe Foster had recognized her as Adrian Chamberlain’s sister.
Sitting in the café, Julia Chamberlain received her warmly and helped Chloe Foster order a coffee.
"I just had a chat with my mentor." Chloe Foster stirred her coffee, lying seamlessly, "He was very impressed with you and thinks highly of you."
"Really?" Julia Chamberlain frowned slightly, "I wasn’t in the best state today, been practicing without proper rest."
"It’s noticeable, but with your ability, I’m sure you’ll perform well in the formal competition." Chloe Foster lowered her lashes, "Among all contestants, your strongest competition is probably only Seraphina."
When Seraphina was mentioned, Adrian Chamberlain subtly pouted.
"She competed years ago, obviously more experienced than I am."
"You know each other?"
"We..." Julia Chamberlain sighed dramatically, "She’s actually my brother’s ex-fiancée, don’t be fooled by her appearance, she’s actually... a gold digger."
"Is that so?" Chloe Foster lifted her lashes, "Tell me more?"
Julia Chamberlain immediately embellished slanders against Seraphina.
"After the Thorne Family fell, my brother was wholeheartedly trying to help her, but she turned around and climbed up to Ethan Sterling of the Sterling Family, ditching my brother."
"So you’re saying... she really married Ethan Sterling?"
"Exactly, Ethan is ridiculous, marrying someone like her. She’s deceiving him thoroughly, you wouldn’t believe it, Ethan bought her a car and spent so much money to help her buy shares of the Zenith Group. Just those shares couldn’t be bought for less than a hundred million."
"So..." Chloe Foster pursed her lips, "Seraphina and Ethan Sterling aren’t truly in love?"
Julia Chamberlain pursed her lips, her tone incredibly sharp.
"Truly in love? How is that possible! Think about it, from breaking off the engagement with my brother to marrying him in just a few days, can that be true love? Seraphina must be using her looks to seduce Ethan on purpose, then using him, at this rate, Ethan’s money will eventually fall into her hands."
BANG!
Chloe Foster’s spoon hit the edge of her cup heavily.
The coffee splashed out, dripping onto her hand.
Julia Chamberlain hastily pulled out a tissue to hand to her, "Did it burn you?"
"It’s okay." Chloe Foster took the tissue, wiping her hand, "I have something to do, I’ll leave first."
"Then..." Julia Chamberlain took out her phone, "Miss Foster, can we add each other on WeChat?"
"Oh, I just came back and haven’t registered for WeChat yet."
"I see." Julia Chamberlain looked a bit disappointed.
"No worries, don’t I have your phone number?" Chloe Foster spoke with a smile, "Whenever I have any inside information, I’ll call to inform you."
"Great, thank Miss Foster in advance."
With a wave of her hand, Chloe Foster turned and left the café.
She hailed a taxi and sat in the back seat.
Recalling what Julia Chamberlain had just said, she slowly clenched her fingers.
"Seraphina, I won’t let you hurt Ethan, absolutely not!"
