Marrying My Father's Enemy-Chapter 127: Eira’s Rise
Chapter 127: Eira’s Rise
Chapter 127: Eira’s Rise
Sana was holding her wine glass; her nerves made her skin tremble just beneath her confidence.
The atmosphere at the engagement party was uncomfortable, with forced laughter and insincere compliments, but Sana could see through it all.
She saw the stiffness in Callian’s shoulders, the emptiness in his eyes as he stood surrounded by people who didn’t really care.
He was a man trapped in a life he didn’t choose.
"Enjoying the party?" Sana asked casually, swirling the red wine in her glass.
"It’s a party," he replied flatly. "What’s there to enjoy?"
Sana smirked and took a small sip of her wine.
"Well, for starters, your fiancée seems to be having the time of her life."
She lifted her chin in the direction where Mita had just stormed off once again.
Callian didn’t react, not even a small emotion. "She’ll recover," he said distantly.
Sana studied him for a moment, then decided to push further. "You know," she said slowly, "I saw Eira the other day."
That got his attention.
His jaw tightened, and his hands clenched into fists at his sides.
"Did you?" he asked, his tone carefully neutral.
"Yes," Sana lied smoothly. "She seemed... happy. Really happy, actually. She’s doing well without you."
Callian’s eyes darkened, but his expression remained impassive.
"Good for her," he said in a cold voice. "I’m glad."
Sana blinked, caught off guard.
She had expected some kind of reaction—jealousy, anger, anything—but instead, he turned away, as if the conversation was over.
"You don’t care?" she pressed, her voice rising slightly.
Callian turned back to her. "Should I?"
Sana faltered, suddenly unsure of herself. "I just thought..."
"You thought wrong," he interrupted, his tone cutting.
"Eira made her choice, and so did I. Whatever she’s doing now is none of my business."
Sana’s grip on her glass tightened; her confidence slipped.
She had been so sure she could provoke him, but he wasn’t playing along.
She had lost the bet she’d made with herself—that she could crack his carefully constructed act.
Before she could say anything else, a voice came from behind.
"There you are."
Sana turned to see Rylan approaching; his presence seemed to be commanding as always.
He slipped an arm around her waist, pulling her close. "I’ve been looking for you," he said in a possessive tone.
Sana’s cheeks flushed, but she didn’t pull away. "I was just..." She glanced at Callian, unsure how to explain.
Callian’s eyes moved between them.
"Don’t let me keep you," he said coolly before turning and walking away without another word.
Sana stared after him, strange emotions started swirling in her chest.
She had expected him to care, to fight, but he had done the opposite.
It was as if she and Eira no longer existed in his world.
"You’re wasting your time," Rylan said; his voice pulled her back to the moment.
"What do you mean?" she asked, frowning.
Rylan leaned in; his lips brushed against her ear as he spoke.
"He’s not coming back, Sana. He’s too broken to fix. And even if he wasn’t, he wouldn’t deserve her."
Sana pulled back, her eyes searched for his. "And what about you? Do you think you deserve me?"
A slow smile spread across Rylan’s face. "I don’t think. I know."
Sana’s breath caught as he tightened his grip on her waist.
"You’re mine now," he said softly, "whether you admit it or not."
For a moment, Sana forgot where she was, lost in the intensity of his brown eyes.
But then she heard the laughter and chatter of the party around them, and reality came crashing back.
"This isn’t the time or place," she thought loudly.
Rylan shrugged. "Time and place don’t matter. What matters is you."
Sana felt her heart skip a beat, but she shook her head, trying to regain control.
"You’re impossible," she muttered, pulling away from him.
"And you love it," he called after her.
Sana didn’t look back as she walked away.
Meanwhile, across the room, Callian stood by the bar, watching the interaction with a heavy heart.
He had heard Sana’s words, felt the sting of her lies, but he had refused to let it show.
"She’s happy," he muttered to himself. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
The words sounded bitter on his tongue. "That’s all that matters."
But deep down, he knew it wasn’t true.
Mita was behind him, but Callian barely noticed.
His head was elsewhere.
Did he make the right choice? Was it worth Eira’s tears? The baby...?
"Callian, don’t be so surprised... of course, she was supposed to move on. What else did you expect her to do?"
"Shut up, Mita."
If only he knew how to get rid of Mita’s sniper, Eira would be saved.
"Come on, we’re going to be husband and wife soon..."
"Did you hear?"
Mita heard someone muttering behind her back.
The whispers started slowly.
But as more guests checked their phones, the murmurs grew louder, spreading like wildfire through the engagement party.
"Have you seen the news?" someone whispered near the bar.
"I can’t believe it," another said. "Eira Hax? Of all people!"
Mita, perched proudly beside Callian, stiffened as she overheard the commotion.
"What’s going on?" she asked.
One of her friends leaned in, holding up her phone with the headline blazing across the screen: - Eira Hax Launches Tech Empire Backed by Anand’s and Blackwood’s Family Investors. -
Mita’s face went pale.
"That’s impossible," she hissed, snatching the phone from the woman’s hands.
She scanned the article; her fingers trembled as the words sank into her eyes.
Eira Hax, the name Mita had hoped to bury, was now at the forefront of a bold new venture.
Backed by the wealthiest investors from Anand’s family, Eira’s startup was already valued at an astronomical figure.
The article also highlighted that Anand’s own company was in a downward spiral, teetering on the edge of a financial crisis.
"This has to be fake," Mita muttered, her voice faded.
But around her, the whispers only came stronger.
"Did you hear? Anand’s company is struggling because the investors pulled out to back Eira."
"How did she pull this off?"
"She’s brilliant," someone said admiringly.
Mita slammed the phone down on the table, her nails digging into her palms.
"She must have cheated," she snapped, her voice starting to shake through her gritted teeth.
"There’s no way she could’ve done this on her own!"
Callian, standing beside her, remained silent.
But the smallest smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.
"You’re awfully quiet, Callian," Mita yelled, turning her anger on him. "Does this... please you?"
Callian’s eyes finally met hers. "It’s just business," he said simply.
Across the room, Sana was jumping, her drink forgotten in her hand.
"She really did it!"
The whispers turned into hushed admiration; the room was filled with Eira’s victory.
Mita couldn’t stand it.
She stood abruptly, her chair scraped loudly against the floor.
"I need to step out," she scoffed.
But no one followed.
All eyes were on the headlines, on Eira’s name, and on her triumph.
"That’s my girl," Callian sipped his drink.
