Chapter 128: The Ripple of Power

The air outside the party was fresher, a cold wind sliced through Mita’s perfectly curated composure.

Her heels clicked against the stone steps, each step felt like it was going to crack.

She clutched her phone, re-reading the headline as if staring at it long enough could somehow erase it.

"How dare she," Mita hissed to herself, her breath fogged in the cold night air.

Her perfectly painted nails curled into fists.

"She thinks she can humiliate me? She thinks she’s untouchable?"

Behind her, Sana stepped out, with a drink still in hand.

She had seen Mita storm off and followed, impossible to resist the temptation to tease her.

"Rough night?" Sana’s voice was gentle, but there was something in her eyes—she knew exactly what had set Mita off.

"Don’t start," Mita rolled her eyes.

Sana chuckled, taking a sip from her glass.

"Oh, darling, I don’t need to start anything. Eira already finished it."

"What are you implying?"

"Oh, nothing," Sana said innocently, twirling her glass.

"It’s just... poetic, isn’t it? The girl you tried to destroy not only survived but thrived. And now, she’s outplayed you in every way."

Mita’s hand shot out, grabbing Sana’s arm.

"Watch your mouth," she snarled. "You don’t know anything about what I’ve done—or what I’m capable of."

Sana didn’t flinch, her smirk only grew wider.

"I think I do. But here’s the thing, Mita—you’re running out of moves. Eira’s not some helpless little girl anymore. She’s a queen. And you? You’re just..." She let her eyes drop. "...a pawn."

Mita released her with a shove, her chest heaved.

"You think this is over? You think she’s won?"

Before Sana could reply, Callian spoke. "Enough."

Both women turned to see him standing at the door.

"Mita, go back inside," he said firmly.

"No," Mita snapped like a baby.

"You don’t get to tell me what to do, Callian. Not after this."

Callian raised an eyebrow. "After what?"

Mita laughed bitterly.

"Don’t play dumb. You knew, didn’t you? You knew about her little scheme, and you let it happen. You wanted this to happen!"

Callian took a step closer, lowering his voice, he talked. "Careful, Mita. You’re making a scene."

"A scene?" she spat. "You think I care about a scene? She’s ruined everything! My reputation, my family’s business, everything we’ve built!"

"You ruined it yourself," Callian said coldly.

Mita froze, her eyes widened. "What did you just say?"

"You heard me. You’re the one who dragged Eira into this mess. You’re the one who turned this engagement into a business deal. And now you’re paying the price."

Mita’s lips trembled, but she quickly masked it.

"How dare you," she whispered. "You think you can talk to me like this? You think you can stand there and defend her?"

"I’m not defending anyone. I’m stating facts. And the fact is, Mita—you’re losing."

The words felt like a death knell.

Sana watched their conversation with barely concealed delight, her drink seemed forgotten in her hand.

But Mita wasn’t done.

She straightened her shoulders, looking confident despite the fire in her eyes.

"You think this is over, Callian? You think she’s safe? Let me tell you something—Eira doesn’t know what’s coming for her...but you do."

Callian’s jaw tightened, but before he could respond, Mita turned on her heel and stormed off.

Sana let out a low whistle. "Well, that was fun."

Callian ignored her, looking at the spot where Mita had disappeared.

"Do you think she’ll actually do something?"

"She’s dangerous when she’s cornered," Callian said quietly.

Sana tilted her head, studying him. "And what about you? What are you going to do?"

Callian didn’t answer.

He turned and walked back inside, leaving Sana standing alone in the cold night air.

But Sana wasn’t worried. She smiled to herself, "my girl actually did it!"

Things were about to get very interesting.

Callian didn’t waste time.

The moment Mita stormed off into the cold, he followed her, his long legs caught up to her as she rounded the corner toward the car park.

"Mita," he called.

She ignored him.

"Mita," he said again, this time more forcefully.

She spun around.

"What now, Callian? Come to lecture me some more? To tell me how much better she is?"

Callian stopped a few feet from her, he placed his hands in his pockets.

"No. I came to warn you."

"Hahaha!" Mita laughed bitterly.

"Warn me? About what? You think you scare me, Callian? You think your words mean anything to me?"

He took a step closer, lowering his head just enough to see her eyes.

"You’re not listening, Mita. I’m warning you because you’re about to cross a line you won’t be able to come back from."

"And what line is that?"

"Eira," he said simply. "If you try to hurt her, if you so much as think about interfering with her life again, I will destroy you."

Mita blinked, startled by the sudden words.

"You’d destroy your own fiancée? Your own wife-to-be?" she scoffed, trying to regain her composure.

"I kept my promise. I’m marrying you, Mita. I’ve given you the position you wanted. The title. The power. But let me make one thing very clear—none of that gives you the right to ruin Eira."

Mita bit her lips and then smiled.

"And if I do? What then? What will you do, Callian?"

Calliam stepped closer, so close she could feel the heat of his anger coming off him.

"You don’t want to find out," he said softly in a slow and deadly way.

"But I’ll give you a preview—I’ll tear apart everything you love. Your family. Your reputation. Your company. Piece by piece, I will make sure there’s nothing left of you but regret."

Mita’s eyes went up, "Ca-Callian..."

"You think you’re untouchable because of this engagement," Callian continued. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"But understand this, Mita—I’m only doing this for my family. For the deal. You mean nothing to me. And if you cross Eira again, you’ll mean even less."

Mita’s fists clenched, but she said nothing.

"Do we understand each other?" Callian asked coldly.

She nodded stiffly, her throat seemed to be too tight to speak.

"Good." He turned and walked away, leaving her standing alone.

"Callian..." Mita whispered through gritted teeth, "I will kill Eira and keep you with me forever. You just wait."
