Chapter 507: Monster Under The Bed

Kiernan was sitting on his bed, back against the wall and pillow under his head—a phone in his hand.

He scrolled through the social media.

[Gingerbread: Kiernan is so overrated, and I knew it!]

[Wilson: A Fluke Master should be his new name!]

[SkullKingRome: All I’ve heard about the last day is that lower-tiered countries can also send top-class talents, but this proves that they can only be good with luck!]

"..."

Kiernan shook his head, left the social media app, and opened the writing app—he caressed his chin and started typing.

"What are Jason and Justus after?

"They aim to backstab Zeus, but when? The gap between them is five hundred points, and Point Ball proved that some events give fewer points than others.

"They’ll work with him for a few events, get their points up, and then betray Zeus in the last event? It’s risky because in the last event they must get more points to pass Zeus; otherwise, it’s worthless.

"And they need to rely on luck that the event is good for them and gives plenty of points.

"However, what did they want from me?"

Kiernan frowned and rummaged his brains.

"They know that if they publicly worked with me, Zeus wouldn’t want to work with them, so in any event, we couldn’t have worked publicly if they planned to work with Zeus originally.

"Sure, my refusal might’ve forced them to go for Zeus, but they gave me a night’s time to think about the offer.

"Maybe they realized from my facial expression that I was going to say no.

"No, it was clear that they wanted to work with Zeus—however, they talked to him about me, and it was clear that they hinted that they would work with Zeus against me.

"Thus, they planned to betray me... I know now."

Kiernan scoffed and scratched the back of his head.

"To make Zeus trust them, they planned to sell me off.

"First of all, they planned to make both me and Zeus work with them—but they only planned to work with Zeus.

"To make Zeus trust them fully, they go after me fully in the next event, and since I would work with them, I wouldn’t expect that.

"I already basically rejected them, so they’re already probably talking about going after me, so I can’t go and tell Zeus about their plans.

"They probably have already said to Zeus about their conversation with me, and about their plan for the next event.

"So I cannot turn Zeus against them."

Kiernan thought, finished typing on the phone, and pocketed the phone.

He sighed and rubbed his right knee—it still had some phantom pain—and it really made moving it really uncomfortable.

’I’d like to visit Irio. With the Bonded Transference skill, I can go there as I wish, but there is still a risk about Fen coming here.

’However, with Imperius gone from here for now, it would be fine.’

Kiernan thought to himself and opened his mouth.

"Bonded Trans..."

At that moment, his eyes widened in shock, and he covered his mouth—a silent gulp moved his Adam’s apple up and down.

’Why am I so stupid? I am acting like Imperius isn’t currently looking at me. It is clear that he is very curious about my sudden disappearance today.

’Who knows, he might be currently cloaking himself with his aura and be invisible somewhere in this house as far as I know.

’When I do Bonded Transference, he then could find out about Fen!’

Kiernan remembered the way Imperius hid himself from Zeus—without properly concentrating on him, he would be the same as an invisible person.

He raised his head and looked at every corner of the room—he put all his concentration into finding Imperius.

He then stood up, yawned, and walked out of the room—acting like he was all alone in the world—and even stretched his arms.

When making his way to the bathroom, he checked every corner of the house that he passed, then entered the bathroom and washed his hands.

Through the reflection of the mirror, he gazed outside the bathroom and concentrated fully—no one there.

He then made his way to the living room, walked to the kitchen, and put some coffee on to brew—through the window’s reflection, he looked towards the living room.

Concentrating on every piece of furniture. Into every corner. Into every detail, searching for any sign of movement or life.

’No one here.’

Kiernan left the coffee to brew, moved back to his room, and sat on the edge of the bed—but he simultaneously looked down towards the under of the bed.

Gulp~

He gulped silently and covered his mouth.

’He is under the bed, isn’t he? I can’t directly look over there, as he will find out that I am looking for him.’

Kiernan slipped his hand inside his pocket, tossed the phone out of his pocket, and it landed on the floor.

"Ah, fuck! Please don’t be broken!"

He crouched on the floor, touching his painful right knee, and grabbed the phone—but through the screen reflection of the phone, he looked under the bed.

A face stared at him back.

"..."

Kiernan picked up the phone, slipped it inside his pocket, and headed back to the kitchen to turn the coffee off.

’Holy fuck. I almost screamed.’

Kiernan thought, poured some coffee into a cup, and sipped on it while gazing at the street through the window.

’Did he hear me say Bonded Transference? I am lucky that I stopped before I finished saying it fully. I almost fucked up.

’I should’ve known that I should’ve been on my toes in the presence of Pirate Immortal. It doesn’t matter that he is part of the Martial Order. I should not trust him!’

Kiernan thought, finished coffee, returned back to the room, and lay on the bed—he closed his eyes, but it sure was hard to fall asleep knowing that someone was hiding under his bed.

It took him half an hour, but eventually he forced himself back to sleep.

A few minutes later, Imperius left the under of the bed, looked at Kiernan’s sleepy self, and crept quietly out of the room.

’Bonded Trans? What is that about?’

He wondered, went to the kitchen, and looked at the coffee that had gone slightly cold—he felt the desire to take another sip.

’Don’t let your desires control you, Imperius.’

He said and took a deep sigh.
