Chapter 508: Third Event

God City, the Great News Studio of Martial World.

In the news studio, the "Live" light went on, and the news broadcast, which was widespread enough to show in every corner of the Martial World and the World Sea, started to transmit.

"Hello, everyone!"

A sharp-eyebrowed man tapped his hands on the crescent-shaped desk and introduced him to the world—Anur Bai!

"My name’s Anur Bai, and we’re coming to you straight from God City itself—the second event had concluded, so let’s review the highlights and prepare for the next event!"

The woman next to him, with red lipstick on her lips, smiled and waved at the camera—she introduced herself as Anur Bai’s co-host for the news section, Camila Renz.

The broadcast showed the highlights of the second event—including the surprise knockout of Kiernan—showed some of the most memorable moments, and ended with Zeus celebrating his victory.

The highlights ended, and it returned back to the news station—the two hosts were sitting behind a crescent-shaped desk with the God City in the background.

"And that’s the end of the second event, and rankings look like this currently!"

Anur snapped his finger towards a wall to the right, and a large screen lit up with the current rankings.

"New names have appeared in the top ten, and some names have disappeared—most noticeably, Kiernan Hunter of New Rakuya had completely disappeared!"

Anur said.

With a wry smile, Camila said.

"While the second event didn’t go as planned for many, there are still plenty of events left to do comebacks of the century, and today, in this broadcast, we’re allowed to spin the lottery wheel for the third event!"

"That’s right, ladies and gents—we’ve been given permission to spin the wheel, and thus, the representatives will know the event hours before the actual start of the event.

"In the first and second events, they had no time to prepare and were thrown straight into the action, but not this time around!"

Anur said.

"In the Junior Martial Arts Championship, there has been a common occurrence happening every time basically—teaming up with fellow representatives!"

Camila said with a sneaky smile.

"And we’ll be expecting that to happen this time around as well—thus, the teams have plenty of time to prepare for the third event, and solo representatives will definitely be in a world of hurt!"

The lottery wheel was rolled to the crescent-shaped desk—right beside it—and it had hundreds of events written, but two had been removed so far.

Point Ball and Horse Endurance!

"You want to take the honors?"

Anur asked with a smile towards his co-host—Camila nodded with a smile—she stood up, and with heels clinking against the floor, she walked over to the lottery wheel.

It put a nervous smile on her face as she looked at the lottery wheel.

It made her remember the early days of her youth, when she was watching the championships through her parents old box television that barely showed colors.

She put her hand on the wheel and gave it a proper spin—it started spinning—and anticipation built in everyone’s chest.

The eyes of the world were on the wheel—watching it slow down—and as it finally came to a stop, everyone’s heart stopped for a moment.

It stopped at Obstacle Race!

"Haha, it is the Obstacle Race’s turn!"

Anur clapped his hands together with a smile and said.

"It’s one of the most memorable events in the championship, and it has appeared ten times before, surprisingly enough.

"It’s the true test of strength, endurance, and mental toughness—there’s no such thing as luck in this event, and only the strongest will triumph!"

...

’Obstacle Race...’

Kiernan leaned back on the couch, the dark house surrounding him, and rubbed the knee that was broken just earlier today.

It was still feeling quite uncomfortable, but it was better, and he would be able to run.

’An event such as this is perfect for teams. I don’t have the luxury of getting a team because of my new nickname, Fluke Master.’

At that moment, he saw shadows run past the windows, and as Kiernan walked over to look outside, he saw some representatives knocking on doors.

’It looks like they’re desperately searching for a team...’

He thought and saw that some representatives thought about going to his door—then they saw the name sign at the front and shook their head.

While some low-ranked representatives would beg to be in the team of top 50 representatives, he didn’t have the greatest reputation currently.

’I don’t care if everyone is ridiculing me, but I’ve seen people clowning on New Rakuya—the country itself—as I am their representative.

’It isn’t a good look for the country, and I am sure the leaders of New Rakuya must be furious at me because of my performance.’

Kiernan scratched the back of his head, and at this rate, he wouldn’t be welcomed back to the country if he didn’t start performing.

"That’s fine... I’ll just have to prove them all wrong. I do not need help from anyone; I never had need on Earth, and I definitely don’t need it here."

...

The fireworks exploded in the skies of God City and woke up the sleepy citizens that had yet to leave their beds.

However, the stadium was already packed, and the countdown on the screen showed that one hour remained before the start of the third event.

In the arena, they were already able to see the obstacle course—it had a road, a balancing beam that went through a large crevice, a forest clouded in a fog, a maze, and a tower at the end.

The tower stood tall and imposing against the brightening sky—it had stairs leading up to it and a door at the top that goes inside the tower!

"Welcome to the Junior Martial Arts Championship’s third event!"

The commentator shouted.

"In an hour’s time, the representatives will gather at the starting line, based on their ranking—thus, the top rankers will start from the front, and bottom rankers will start from the back.

"It starts with a 10-kilometer run, a balancing beam across a treacherous crevice, a mysterious forest clouded in a fog, a winding maze, and then the tower.

"There is a door at the top of the tower, and once representatives walk through that door, they’ve officially completed the event!"
