Master of Kaidan-Chapter 608: Anything that Can Be Remotely Controlled is an Unmanned Drone
"Ding-dong, ding-dong~~"
The prolonged sound of the bell signaling the end of the class reverberated through the air, and the teacher, having no intention of holding the class longer, left the classroom after assigning homework.
Feng Xue’s classmates immediately gathered around her and Dexter, who hadn’t yet had the chance to leave, their curiosity about the new transfer student drawing them in.
"Dexter, your Budha Ali language is really good, where did you learn it?"
"Dexter, is it true that all men in White Forest Country are muscular and strong?"
"Dexter, did you ever see any of the ’Heavenly Court’ mechs when you were in Lu’an?"
A barrage of various questions came flooding in, mostly similar to those asked by Nana Mei, revealing the common interests of these young people.
Responding to the myriad of questions with a friendly demeanor, Dexter also appropriately showcased the differences between himself and the people of Budha Ali.
"Dexter, you said that the ’Heavenly Court’ incident hadn’t happened when you left Lu’an. So did you see any mechs from Ideal Country?"
Suddenly, a boy with glasses and medium-length hair asked. Dexter responded with a tone tinged with reminiscence:
"I have seen those. The forward base in Lu’an was equipped with G series mechs, but they were older models. According to our gym teacher, they were about the ’seventh and a half’ generation, which is roughly the same model as the Budha Alikana Type Titan."
"Isn’t that a relic from thirty years ago?" A student knowledgeable about mechs immediately displayed a look of surprise, to which Dexter nodded and added:
"Pretty much. In terms of performance, they’re not much stronger than the training mechs we have here at school. However, pilots from Ideal Country don’t rely much on the mech’s performance. Even with a training mech, an ace pilot can still exhibit an ace’s combat capabilities. Of course, better mechs are preferable. But due to the war between Byranth and Budha Ali thirty years ago, Ideal Country accumulated a surplus of military equipment that they’ve been using up to now."
"Eh... wait a second, Dexter, do you mean to say... they actually pilot mechs for gym class in Lu’an?"
Students with a quick grasp were wide-eyed, and the guys listening for fun immediately showed envy in their eyes.
Dexter simply nodded in response:
"Although they’re training mechs with most of the weaponry removed, it’s indeed mech piloting. After all, it’s a war zone, and there are frequent attacks from White Forest Country. You never know if a mech might just land right in front of you..."
"Isn’t that the plot of ’Mobile Suit G’? I mean, we can watch Ideal Country’s animated series here in Budha Ali." As Dexter spoke earnestly:
"The storyline of ’Mobile Suit G’ is based on reality. In fact, according to my gym teacher in Lu’an, ever since an ace pilot escaped an encirclement using a downed mech, all schools in Ideal Country introduced mech classes. Of course, most of the time, these are used for games like ball games, races, tug of war, and such. Actual combat training is rare."
Even though Dexter spoke nonchalantly, his words ignited a burning envy in the students who didn’t even know what a mech cockpit looked like. The girls were fine, but the boys were brimming with excitement, pestering Dexter to describe the features of those mechs.
Dexter showed no aversion to this, effortlessly dropping specifications and model numbers, and no one doubted his ability to pilot a mech by the way he described them.
However, the time for interaction was short-lived; as the bell rang signalling preparation for the next class, the students reluctantly returned to their seats, waiting for the teacher of the next lesson to arrive.
"These students are quite easy to talk to..." Dexter glanced at Nana Mei’s desk, and promptly took out his math textbook. But just then, an alarm rang in his ear.
"What’s the situation?"
He immediately connected to the communication from the Haotian Mirror, and the built-in display of the Masked Rider also manifested a battle scene image.
From the outside, the style here clearly bore the hallmark of a future city-state, with skyscrapers like a steel jungle standing closely packed together. On the minimalistic roads presumed to be in the sky, vehicles of various sizes sped by.
Nearby was a cluster of buildings emitting thick smoke. A golden Mecha was hovering in midair; in its hand was a Dragon Child, which had been whittled down to a mecha stick.
"Dragon Child - Pu Lao has been captured, request permission to initiate self-destruct program."
"Permission granted. What’s the status of the other Mechas?" Feng Xue first issued the self-destruct command, then asked.
"Today’s military intervention was blocked by the regular forces of the Ideal Country. After damaging the Bolatic Armament Factory, Dragon Child - Pu Lao and Dragon Child - Chi Wen held the rear. The other seven units have withdrawn. This view is provided by Dragon Child - Chi Wen."
Haotian Mirror rapidly reported the day’s operations, and Dragon Child - Pu Lao suddenly began to shrink.
Almost at the same moment, the perspective which had been relatively still abruptly moved, while the Mecha holding Pu Lao simultaneously threw it out.
"Boom!"
The terrible explosion instantly turned the entire sky gold and red. The armor of the Chi Wen unfolded, and from the vents, a fine foam surged out, insulating against the heat. At the same time, the vector engines fully ignited, propelling the Mecha in a different direction away from the other seven units.
The golden Mecha that appeared to be extraordinarily powerful clearly had no intention of letting it escape so easily and immediately pursued from behind. And in front of Chi Wen, several more Mechas in black and white livery attempted to intercept.
"Tch...is there a live broadcast?" Feng Xue, watching the fireworks in her field of view, didn’t look too pleased. With Chi Wen’s autonomous combat system, it simply couldn’t break out of the defense circle.
"According to the current network information, three official media outlets of the Ideal Country are providing real-time coverage of this combat. Additionally, several independent media and online live streams are focusing on this battle."
"Tch, although the tactical objective has been achieved, running away like this will damage the image of the Heavenly Court..." Feng Xue grimaced as she pondered, and at this moment, the golden Mecha had already caught up.
Compared to the G-series seventh-generation mobile suit encountered on Lu’an Island, this golden Mecha, both in terms of the machine and the pilot, was not an ordinary character.
"Initiate remote piloting system, keyboard operation mode; provide calculation and electronic warfare support."
"Understood."
The virtual keyboard unfolded inside the Masked Rider. Feng Xue placed her hands in the drawer to cover the movement of her fingers.
"Given up, have you?" At the ruins of the Bolatic Armament Factory in Ideal Country, Komi’er, an Ace pilot leading an elite squadron on a sniping mission, looked at the suddenly stationary Mecha with an arrogant tone, but still remained vigilant.
But just as he was contemplating whether to attack the cockpit directly to prevent the Mecha from self-destructing, behind the foam-encased body that was hardening, fins like those of a fish suddenly unfolded.
The hardened foam fell from the sky in pieces, and the Mecha, which seemed to be metamorphosing, emitted a strange fluctuation.
Though he had no concrete proof, Komi’er instinctively felt that the Mecha before him, which he had been toying with just moments ago, was by now utterly transformed.
"Silver Knight squadron, be aware, there’s something off about this one!"
No sooner had the order been issued than the blue-and-white Mecha, decorated with elements of shells, scales, and waves, suddenly sprang into action.
"So fast!"
