Master Of None-Chapter 2843. Scolding Time?

Walker wanted to tell Midnight that they were not planning to fight, but he also realized that he was already losing here. She had noticed something strong enough to hunt and test her skills in her dragonkin form enough that it would be better than training.

However, as she stepped ahead, Su kept a close eye on the leading jackal hound. It was not moving forward to eat and it seemed to somehow be ordering the smaller jackal hounds around with just soft huffs and snarls. Enough control that it matched or exceeded a wolf pack's control with its alpha at the head.

'Jackal hound

These are very vicious scavengers. They prefer to follow and hunt down the weak and ill. They are opportunistic and very territorial about food that they find anywhere. They will cause fights and kill any others feeding on the food they have found. This makes them extremely annoying to any merchants, pack monsters, or villages they live around.

They are a long lived species and can often be said to remember those that they have fought with and lost or won to before. Since this is the case they are easily considered larger problems than other monsters due to the fact that they will gladly attempt revenge.

Their leader often eats the most and grows the largest, they will also be able to use earth and dark mana better than the smaller jackal hounds to attack. Due to this it is always true that their saliva has nearly toxic properties causing severe poisoning if wounds are left behind by their bite.

They will also cloak themselves in earth to make their fur sharper while doing the same with their claws so that they can strike out and cut tougher hides. Due to this, they often also mark trees or will cut off the stones on the ground to show that they are traveling through the area. This marks their travels so that packs of females can find the packs of males and meet temporarily to make nests for their breeding month.

While they are vicious in life, they also are extremely vicious in their undead state. Because of their diets, they consume plenty of rotting flesh and decaying meat. This causes the naturally occurring undead mana to gather in their bones which leads them to often reanimate as zombified forms of themselves and eventually decay in to skeleton jackals. This is why they are hard to gather materials from since their bodies decay rapidly and they often become undead before harvesting can take place…'

With the appraisal taken care of, Walker stepped ahead as Midnight used a clawed hand to cut the neck of one of the smaller jackal hounds that chose to try and scare her off. The others were chasing after another monster that had been eating the lizard treant. However, they also appeared to be attacking without any care for their own safety.

The jackal hounds were uncaring toward those they hunted and also themselves and one another. Walker spotted one jackal hound take a bite out of another just because it got in its way. This was brutal and not at all normal for other monsters. It was a wonder that the jackal hounds were even able to be in a pack at all.

Midnight leaped forward dodging another attempted bite and then claw strike from two jackal hounds. But Walker was already moving and used a sudden burst of earth mana to force the ground up and in to a trap for them. While they couldn't move and their weaker attempts to make the earth move failed, Walker could see them harming themselves to try and escape to attack Midnight.

This was when the larger jackal hound made a move. It stepped forward covering its body in earth. It looked sharper and more dangerous as the dark mana also gathered around its mouth showing proof that its bite would be even more destructive. Yet, Walker also noticed that the jackal hound Midnight had defeated was starting to stand up again. This time its snarls were gargled and even more vicious.

As if to prove yet another point, the defeated jackal hound started to attack the other jackal hounds leading to it being attacked by multiple and torn to shreds to be eaten by its brethren. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"I am taking charge." Su dashed forward, her armor was white since she had swapped to her purifying light armor set made to handle the undead and better defend from those with dark affinities. She wore it to resist whatever was in the bites that these monsters left behind.

Their speed was easily beaten by her steadfast stance and caused all of them to focus on her. She had the pack, what was left of it, handled.

Midnight breathed out a breath of flames that rolled off the jackal hound leader like nothing. It shook its earth enhanced fur before leaping in a larger arc to slash down at Midnight who had already dodged. The claws the jackal hound used sliced through the ground like nothing leaving behind a slight glimmer of dark mana as well. It was the same with the drool dripping off its fanged maw, the dark mana was even decaying the ground.

"Midnight, use more force and dodge every attack, it will hurt you too." Walker knew that despite the dark decaying mana, the undead mana was what they needed to worry about. These monsters held that mana within themselves. They were not able to release it or purify it. They were not the only ones like this too and in this case, they would become undead almost immediately.

That alone would be a huge problem, but right now, the problem is that the undead mana would harm Midnight if she was hit by an attack. Walker didn't buff her though. Despite the danger he knew that she was trying to fight herself for herself. It was a test she imposed on herself in her dragonkin form to prove she was still getting stronger and could handle the threats that came their way.

It was a larger part of her dragon side showing right now.

With a heavier strike, Midnight had balled her hand in to a fist copying how Remey punched. It wasn't a way she would normally fight since she would normally make use of her claws. But knowing that the earth all around the fur of the jackal hound was very condensed and a claw stroke wouldn't do as much damage, Midnight tried to break its defenses.

The followng crack was the sound of ribs breaking. Proof she had taken what she saw Remey do and used it better. But this made the dark mana grow around the body and the almost gray mana to leak out.

"You broke the bones, undead mana is seeping out. Use light mana if you can-" Walker dodged a jackal hound and trapped it with earth mana too. But now he used water mana to freeze it solid so it couldn't become an undead right away. He looked back up to see Midnight's throat glowing with light mana.

She was holding light mana in her mouth in her dragonkin form to try a fire ball of light mixed fire dragon's breath. Normally this worked in her dragon form but he had never seen her do this in her dragonkin form. It was a worry that she would harm herself with such a concentrated burst attack in this form.

But when she stepped under the larger jackal hounds' guard and opened her mouth, it wasn't a larger ball of fire. It was a concentrated beam of light and fire. Whether this was the intended attack or not, Midnight leaped back with her lips burned and clear signs she had burned the insides of her mouth.

She didn't show the pain but Walker started a healing skill. On the other side of things, the light mana and flames had begun to erupt from within the jackal hound turning it to ash from the inside out. She hadn't intended the result, that was clear, but it had worked all too well.

"Because its bones have the undead mana within, the light flames you made used it as fuel to burn and purify. That caused the rest of the body to burn faster. We might need to make note of this. But that will be after you are healed and we tell you about how dangerous it is to use a new attack when you haven't trained it."

The glare from Walker was only more intense as he froze the remaining jackal hounds and then used light magic to purify the undead mana within them. He also saw that Su was giving Midnight a very stern look.

It wasn't one scolding she would be getting. It was two, one after another.
