Master, Your Wife Has Become a Super Star Through Fortune-Telling-Chapter 37 - 39: The Bizarre Staircase
Su Nian frowned as she looked at Wang An, who was staring at her with a bewildered expression.
"I saved you. According to standard practice, a man of your means should pay at least a hundred thousand."
Hearing Su Nian’s somewhat mercenary tone, Wang An grew even more uncertain if it was really her.
The Miss Su he knew was a love-struck fool, but she would casually spend hundreds of thousands on a single bag or necklace.
’How could she be mixed up in something like this?’
But the resemblance was uncanny. Wang An hesitated for a moment before agreeing.
He then spoke, testing the waters.
"Can I get your contact info? It’ll make it easier to transfer you the money."
Su Nian hadn’t said a word, but the viewers in the livestream were already mocking him.
[Shameless! He’s obviously just hitting on her because she’s pretty!]
[He’s no spring chicken. And after everything that just happened, how is that still on his mind?!]
[Seriously, the guy’s got some thick skin.]
"No need. Just scan the code."
Su Nian rejected him without a moment’s hesitation.
She simply pulled up her payment QR code. Wang An scratched his head awkwardly and took out his own phone.
After Wang An left, Su Nian began to wander around the eerie residential complex.
Eventually, she found her way back to the building Zhang Yu had jumped from.
Looking at the dilapidated, half-collapsed entryway door, Su Nian went inside anyway.
The moment she stepped inside, Su Nian sensed something was wrong.
A bone-chilling cold washed over her, as if a solid block of ice had been pressed against her skin.
Su Nian smiled faintly and took out a stack of talisman paper.
Then she began placing them on her shoulders.
[LMAO, why is the host so good at deadpan humor!]
[I just wanna say, she’s a true beauty. Even the talisman paper looks high-class when she’s holding it.]
[You’re right. This hallway was pitch-black and terrifying, but with the host walking through, it feels like a fashion runway.]
[A truly top-tier beauty has a natural air of elegance.]
But at that moment, Su Nian stopped in her tracks.
The hallway was pitch-dark, but in Su Nian’s eyes, many restless souls were floating about.
’It’s as if someone deliberately gathered these things here.’
Recalling the phone ghost and the ghostly mist, this all seemed orchestrated.
Frowning, Su Nian continued up the stairs, step by step. The higher she went, the colder it got. By the third floor, the chill had become unnaturally intense.
It was clearly summer, yet frost was forming on the walls, and a liquid that had pooled on the floor at some point had frozen into solid ice.
[I don’t know why, but watching the host go up to this floor, I suddenly feel really cold.]
[Yeah, me too, and I have the AC on.]
[Something seems really wrong.]
[And how is it even possible for frost to form on the walls?!]
But Su Nian remained completely unfazed and continued heading up.
This time, however, Su Nian walked for five minutes without reaching the fourth floor.
The flights of stairs here weren’t long; on average, it should only take about a minute to go up one floor.
Yet now, Su Nian had been walking for a full five minutes.
[I keep feeling like she’s already climbed this flight of stairs.]
[Me too. There’s a little pit on this staircase where some concrete is missing, and I feel like I’ve seen the host walk past it several times.]
[It’s true. I noticed something was off from the start and took a few screenshots. The host has definitely gone up these same stairs multiple times.]
[Whoa, did she run into a Walking in Circles illusion?] 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Su Nian stood still and carefully examined her surroundings. The frost on the walls was growing thicker. ’What in the world is hidden at the top of this building?’
’And what is stopping me from going up?’
"Su Nian... Su... Nian..."
Just then, an ethereal voice drifted over. It was low yet sharp, seeming to flicker between near and far.
At its closest, Su Nian could even feel an icy chill right next to her ear.
Su Nian once again broke into her familiar smile, a picture-perfect, eight-toothed grin.
"What, are you calling for your daddy?"
