Master, Your Wife Has Become a Super Star Through Fortune-Telling-Chapter 60 - 61: Finding Your Dad
The crescent moon hung in the sky like a sharp, stiff hook. And the pitch-black night was like a limitless, thick smear of ink across the heavens, not even a glimmer of starlight peeking through.
Li Shuo, who had brought Su Nian to the graveyard again in the middle of the night, swallowed hard.
As the saying goes: a dark and windy night is a perfect time for murder and arson. And this particular night, for no reason at all, was giving him an ominous premonition.
"Heavenly Venerate... what are we going to do now?"
Su Nian glanced at him. "Of course... we’re going to find your dad..."
Li Shuo froze. He was the first to be so direct about it, and hearing it put that way actually scared him a little.
"Are we... are we going to dig my dad up?"
Li Shuo whispered.
Then he muttered, "But I didn’t bring a shovel."
Su Nian was speechless...
[Did I misunderstand what the streamer meant?]
[I thought we were waiting for his dad to climb out on his own. I didn’t expect this guy to have such... unique ideas.]
[The streamer wouldn’t do something that messed up, would he?]
[Kinda creepy. A son digging up his own father’s grave?]
’The last time I met someone with such original thoughts was, well, the last time.’
"I’m waiting for your dad to climb out himself. The conditions are right tonight. If this is really about a ghost marriage, it will definitely show up!"
Su Nian said irritably. If it weren’t for the fact that Li Shuo was his top donor, he would’ve had a hard time restraining himself from slapping him.
Li Shuo paused for a moment upon hearing this, a little embarrassed.
He couldn’t help but try to explain. "I just misunderstood. It’s not like I actually want to dig up my dad’s grave."
[Don’t explain. The more you explain, the guiltier you sound.]
[At first, I thought you just misunderstood the streamer. Now I’m sure of it—that’s what you really wanted to do!]
Li Shuo was about to explain further when he saw Su Nian’s expression turn serious as he stared intently ahead.
A shiver ran down his spine, and he cautiously glanced around.
The mountain cast a deep shadow, blanketing the small path that hugged its side.
The neatly trimmed bushes blurred into dark masses, swaying wantonly in the night wind with a rustling sound.
It felt as if something was stealthily creeping closer, raising the hairs on his neck.
And then, something even more terrifying happened.
CREAK...
RUSTLE RUSTLE RUSTLE...
This time, the sound wasn’t coming from the trees or bushes, but from the grave.
The sound was of dirt being pushed aside, as if some strange thing was struggling to shove away the soil packed over its coffin, then clawing its way out, bit by bit.
Li Shuo’s body began to tremble uncontrollably.
His lips quivered as if he was desperately trying to speak, but no words came out. His face was drained of all color in terror, only his eyes darting back and forth.
His dad was really climbing out of his coffin.
[Why do I get the feeling that grave is actually moving?]
[I just saw a clump of dirt fly out.]
[S-Something really looks like it’s climbing out!]
[Geez, what are you all so scared of? Unlike you guys, I’ve already tucked my little hands and feet away, just waiting for the streamer to make his move (๑•.•๑)]
[Person above me, I think I’m gonna puke...]
[You damn green tea bitch!]
The sounds grew louder. It seemed the thing was about to break free.
Su Nian frowned, even taking a few steps forward to get a clearer look.
He wanted to get a clearer look at what it was.
A hand like withered wood stretched out into the dark night.
Thanks to Su Nian’s brand-new phone, even the mottled spots on the hand were captured in crystal-clear detail.
[A scene like this could scare me to death!]
[I’m so scared I can barely hold my water glass.]
[The streamer’s hand didn’t even shake. He’s the real deal!]
[As expected of a professional, he’s not scared at all! He even points the camera right at the scariest part for us.]
The withered hand even brushed away the surrounding dirt before struggling to push up its upper body.
It was as if a body was arching and writhing in the dirt, causing the grave mound to bulge.
Soon, a numb face emerged. Its eyes were vacant, but its mouth was stretched into a grin. Faced with such a grotesque sight, everyone except the ever-calm Su Nian was spamming the chat about how they’d peed their pants.
The other hand quickly emerged from the soil as well. Strangely, this hand was clutching a small nail.
Both hands then began clearing the dirt that buried its legs.
The whole process was simple and efficient. It looked like it had climbed out several times before.
[I really think he’s out for revenge!]
[It’s over. Is Li Shuo really going to get killed by his own dad?]
[What do we do? I’m so scared.]
As the buried legs were cleared of dirt, bit by bit...
...the comments about peeing oneself flooded the chat. Li Shuo’s face grew even paler as he frantically tried to remember what he had ever done to wrong his father.
But even as his brows knitted together and a thousand thoughts raced through his mind, he couldn’t come up with a single answer.
’Could it be that he found out I got an eight on my third-grade math test?’
’Or was it because I took the condoms from home and played with them like balloons? Was that what made him too angry to rest in peace?’
’Or did he find out... that I’m actually gay!?’
At this thought, Li Shuo grew even more tense. A chill shot up his spine, making the hairs on his arms stand on end as he trembled uncontrollably.
Just then, Su Nian noticed it started walking forward, nail in hand.
It was heading right in the direction where he and Li Shuo were hiding. As the distance closed, a strange, foul stench drifted over.
Overwhelmed by immense fear and the putrid smell, Li Shuo couldn’t hold it in and suddenly threw up.
"BLEGH..."
Su Nian knew something was wrong the moment he heard the sound. Before an even stranger smell could emerge, he leaped out from their hiding spot.
The movement quickly caught the attention of Mr. Li, who was advancing with the nail.
Its gaze was piercing. The very second it looked up, it spotted Li Shuo, who was crouched over and retching his guts out.
It immediately let out a ghastly voice, as if the words were being forcibly squeezed from its throat.
"Shuo? What are you doing here? Saves me the trouble of looking for you!"
The strange, sinister tone of voice made Li Shuo even more terrified.
But this was his own dad!
’Even if he knew I was gay and couldn’t give him the grandchildren he dreamed of, he wouldn’t climb out of his grave to come after me, would he?!’
’He wouldn’t... would he?’
Li Shuo tried to mentally prepare himself. He finally summoned his courage, only to see a skeletal figure holding a sharp nail in one hand.
It was staring at him with a bizarre expression. Li Shuo felt a dreadful certainty. ’Maybe Dad really did find out I’m gay!’
"Shuo?"
As the voice called out again, the eerie figure drew closer. Li Shuo’s face flushed crimson, his eyes bloodshot and looking as if they would pop from their sockets. His nostrils flared with tension.
His breathing was heavy, his lips pressed into a thin line, and every muscle in his body was tensed.
As if suddenly aware of the sound of his own ragged breaths, Li Shuo desperately tried to suppress it, not daring to exhale. A cold sweat seemed to break out on his back.
"Hi... Dad..."
Mustering every last ounce of courage he had, Li Shuo managed to greet his father.
And then he gloriously fainted...
