Master, Your Wife Has Become a Super Star Through Fortune-Telling-Chapter 87 - 88: My Bestie Wants to Take Me to Hell
"But I watched her die with my own eyes. And her phone was put in the coffin with her. How could she possibly send me a message?!"
Nan Yu’s face was a mask of terror by this point.
"And-and what’s even weirder is, ever since I got that message from her yesterday, I felt something was wrong all night. It felt like sleep paralysis!"
"In the middle of the night, I was half-asleep, and I felt someone lying on top of me. I’m so scared!"
[What does this mean?!]
[Weren’t they supposed to be really close?]
[Maybe her best friend doesn’t want to be lonely down there, so she wants to take her with her!]
[You never know. Once you become a ghost, you don’t think like a living person anymore. She really might be thinking that.]
Su Nian looked through the screen at her room.
The ghost energy in the room was starting to congeal into blackness, and the Dark Aura that appears after death had also manifested.
Su Nian said, "Perhaps she’s seeking you out for an unfulfilled wish. Has anything else seemed off?"
"Nothing else."
"Are you sure? For example, have you seen any strange sights in the middle of the night, heard any strange noises, or lost anything?"
Nan Yu hesitated, then said thoughtfully, "That... Let me think."
Resting her chin in her hand, she scratched her head with the other and thought hard for a long time. Her tone was filled with uncertainty, but her expression grew even more terrified.
"I think I got a random call last night. The person on the other end didn’t say anything, but the call gave me a really bad feeling. It felt like they were calling me from a small, enclosed space."
"And when I tried to call back later, I couldn’t find the number. It wasn’t even in my call history. But I remember it so clearly! I definitely received a call in the middle of the night yesterday!"
The livestream audience: It can’t be...
[Don’t tell me your best friend really wants to take you with her.]
[You two were so close, and now she’s doing all this. You might really be in danger!]
[Listening to this kind of ghost story late at night is so refreshing. More energizing than coffee. Guess I won’t be sleeping at all tonight.]
The livestream audience was terrified. They started forming a line in the bullet comments, spamming "Accidentally clicked, bad luck be gone!" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Below this "bad luck be gone" comment, a stream of "+1"s followed.
Su Nian: ...
"That’s not going to work, you guys!"
[Huh? It won’t work?]
[Then what should we say? By the sacred command of Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, retreat!]
[Are we supposed to use the Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad one?]
Su Nian’s exasperation could practically be felt through the screen. "Folks, I can’t even... Who taught you all this nonsense?"
"None of that will work. You’re not Taoist practitioners, but learning the basics is fine. Now listen up, fam, I’m about to drop some serious knowledge."
"If you experience sleep paralysis, Walking in Circles, or other strange situations, you can silently chant or say aloud, ’Nine Heavens Responding Primordial Thunder Sound Universal Transformation Heavenly Venerable.’ This will turn misfortune into good fortune and prevent evil things from getting close. It works for ordinary people too, but remember, you have to be sincere, and don’t mispronounce the words."
Nan Yu thought for a moment. "But I really don’t think my best friend is that malicious. She’s the type to be a total drama queen. She wouldn’t do something like this."
"I don’t think she would hurt me. Streamer, could it be some other ghost that stole her phone?"
"And maybe I’m just mistaken? Because Lili died so suddenly, I’ve been grieving so much and everything... and I haven’t been sleeping well lately. Maybe that phone call was just my imagination!"
The more Nan Yu thought about it, the more scared she became. She decided to change her tune, trying to rationalize it and convince herself that it was all an illusion and there were no ghosts at all.
She added, "And my phone seems to be acting up, too. Maybe it’s just a problem with the phone, and that’s why the call history wasn’t saved."
[Maybe she’s just been under too much stress lately and isn’t sleeping well. That could be making her overthink things and have vague hallucinations that she’s mistaking for reality.]
[That kind of thing really does happen. When my mother passed away, I had a really hard time accepting it. I would always imagine her at home, pickling vegetables and washing clothes. I just felt like she hadn’t died. Sometimes I’d feel like her spirit had come back to see me, until I was later diagnosed with a severe delusional disorder.]
But Su Nian said bluntly, "But there really is a ghost right next to you."
Nan Yu: ???
The livestream audience: ???
Nan Yu’s lips instantly started trembling. Her face went pale with fright, and a chill ran down her spine. She subconsciously began to look around cautiously. "R-Really?"
"Mhm," Su Nian nodded slightly.
"The Dark Aura in your home is very faint. It seems to be a new soul, meaning it probably hasn’t been a ghost for long."
As Su Nian spoke, she noticed a figure begin to materialize next to Nan Yu. It was now sitting on the edge of the bed. Even though it was a ghost, it unconsciously chose the most comfortable position, plopped down on the bed, and happily rolled over once.
Nan Yu was already on the verge of tears from fear. Her face was pale, her body was trembling, and she whispered, "Streamer, I’m so scared!"
Su Nian took a bite of a crisp, sweet peach.
"When your best friend was buried, was she wearing a white dress with a round collar? And did she have on exquisite makeup, with a crystal hair clip on the right side of her hair and a pair of pearl earrings?"
"Oh, right, and was her phone the latest model from ’Pear’?"
[Did you guys notice? It’s like the streamer is describing her by looking right next to her.]
[No way, no way. Are you saying the ghost is sitting right next to her?]
[Probably. Look at the streamer’s eyes!]
Nan Yu was beyond just "scared."
Her shoulders were hunched, a scream caught in her throat, ready to burst out at any moment. She couldn’t even stop herself from raising a hand to her lips and biting down on her index finger.
Su Nian reassured her, "If she wanted to harm you, she would have done it already. She probably has something she wants to tell you."
"Is it r-really Lili? There are no other ghosts, right?"
Thinking she was still scared, Su Nian took out a sheet of talisman paper. "Yes, it’s only her. She probably has an unfulfilled wish she needs your help with. Don’t worry. If things go south, I’ll banish her immediately. I’ll protect you."
Hearing that it was her best friend, Nan Yu visibly relaxed. She was easily frightened, but she had immense trust in Su Nian. And she wasn’t afraid of Lili.
After hearing Su Nian’s firm reassurance, it was as if she had taken a calming pill, and her heart settled down considerably.
Just then, she turned her head and swung out with a slap.
"An Lili, if you have something to say, just spit it out! You scared the hell out of me a second ago!"
Nan Yu’s brazen demeanor was a complete one-eighty from her timid state just moments before, as if she were a completely different person.
Su Nian watched as her palm landed precisely on the back of the girl on the bed. It seemed she knew her best friend so well that even without seeing her, she knew exactly where she was.
