Mated at First Sight-Chapter 45 - 44 Little Monster Mu Lin_1
Chapter 45: Chapter 44: Little Monster Mu Lin_1
Chapter 45 -44: Little Monster Mu Lin_1
“Do I really look that terrifying?” asked Mu Lin, appearing somewhat innocent as she looked at the several individuals in front of her, who were so scared they couldn’t even express their thoughts.
She had heard the rumors about herself, and she hadn’t bothered to refute them, as she knew perfectly well that she was not a good person. However, even she didn’t believe she was as bad as the rumors suggested.
However, when the others heard Mu Lin’s words, they interpreted them as her tacit admission of her identity.
“Are you… really the Poison Doctor?” This can’t be true, can it?
Although Mu Lin was known for being eccentric, she wasn’t someone who devalued human life. From the day they had gotten to know her, she had always been saving lives, hadn’t she? The man from the Li family they encountered that day being the only exception.
“It’s just a title.” Mu Lin said with a light laugh. To her, it was really just some boring title.
“Holy shit, the legendary Poison Doctor has actually come down from the mountains and appeared right before our eyes,” a few young masters exclaimed with excitement.
The person standing in front of them did seem to be too young.
However…
The Poison Doctor! That was a legendary figure who, until now, only existed in their stories. Seeing her in flesh and blood was bound to be exhilarating.
Looking at Mu Lin, Yang Yuebin’s eyes sparkled with excitement. By his excited looks, it seemed like he was ready to pounce on Mu Lin any moment, not letting her out of his sight.
Mu Lin somewhat uncomfortably touched the tip of her nose, “Actually, I’m also a person.” So, could I not be gazed at like some sort of strange monster? It was inexplicably embarrassing.
“If my grandpa knew about your real identity, he would be exhilarated,” Zhang Mingzhe said casually.
If his family’s patriarch came to know that Mu Lin was willing to owe him a favor, he’d probably get even more excited. Zhang Mingzhe had the sudden urge to see a different expression on his usually tranquil and stern-faced grandfather’s face.
Would that count as a perverse taste?
Seems like he had become a deviant as well.
Compared to Mu Lin, although these young masters looked like they were living freely, they were far from it. Every move they made, everything they did, they were still representing their entire family in the background.
But Mu Lin was different, they could feel it. She was truly free. Even if she had her own secrets, her heart was still free and untethered. No one could influence her thoughts and actions.
There were many examples to back this up.
Maybe that was why they just couldn’t help wanting to get to know this seemingly complicated yet simple girl better. But they didn’t expect…
“Although it’s not a big deal, I hope you guys won’t reveal my identity.” Mu Lin said, looking at Zhang Mingzhe, “As for your grandpa, you can decide yourself.” She didn’t mind revealing her identity if it came to obtaining more information.
The reason she didn’t want them to spread the word was to avoid unnecessary trouble. After all, this was the metropolis, not her Black Forest.

“Don’t worry.” Yang Yuebin replied with a confident pat on his chest, pushing aside the slight disappointment in his heart.
Zhang Mingzhe nodded. He would be prudent.
Zhou Yicen and Zhou Yujun, the brothers, considered the situation thoughtfully. If their grandfather found out that they had casually brought the Poison Doctor into their family, would he pass out from sheer excitement? Moreover, if they included Grandpa Mei, they’d indeed have to weigh their words carefully.
Ji Shubai merely shrugged nonchalantly after the surprise wore off, indicating that he understood. After all, if news of the Poison Doctor’s identity was to spread, it would likely be more troublesome for Mu Lin, or it might even cause her to leave B City. That wasn’t something they wanted to see happen.
However…
Ji Shubai and Jing Youlan exchanged a glance, then turned their eyes back onto Mu Lin.
“The timing of today’s events is rather fortuitous,” Jing Youlan commented with a cryptic smile, maintaining his usual relaxed demeanor.
“What’s fortuitous?” the others asked, all attention turned to him.
“There’s going to be an auction held here today, and one of the items being auctioned turns out to be yours.” Jing Youlan said to Mu Lin, his tone slow and unhurried.
The Dihao Clubhouse held a small auction from time to time featuring a variety of rare items. But the knowledge of these events was typically limited to whispers amongst the elites in their society.
An ordinary person couldn’t possibly attend.
…
“There’s an auction today?” The news was unknown to them.
“We just found out as well,” Ji Shubai said. “We happened to be here, and when the clubhouse employees found out, they sent someone over to inform us.” Everything had just conveniently fallen into place.
Of course, they wouldn’t say that it was a coincidence that they knew what was being auctioned tonight. Even a fool would know that it had been deliberately leaked to attract them over to have a look.
Though they didn’t know what the auctioned item was, they only knew it was related to the Poison Doctor. As it was related, the most probable connection would have been to poison.
The name of the Poison Doctor was definitely a great attraction; her venomous creations were coveted by many, yet remained unattainable. The ability to kill without leaving a trace was something many lacked. Tonight’s auction was sure to be an exciting event.
“When does the auction start?” Mu Lin asked, her eyes calm yet inscrutable.
“In less than an hour. Are you interested in your own items?” Jing Youlan raised his eyebrow.
Wasn’t it Mu Lin who had put these items on auction?
“No.” Mu Lin replied, her eyes calm but her lips curling into a nonchalant smirk. “I just want to know, who’s eager to court death?” That’s all she wanted to know.
