Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 356: The Lonely Sound of Hope [2]
[RANIA]
As the celebrations went on in Incayon, making sure to slice through the deadly silence that had been before, everyone sure did get a hunt for it.
Daehyun, who had been in the dungeon all this time, couldn’t still hear the voices of the excited wolves and as much as he wanted to deny the excitement, he couldn’t help but be thankful that they were not fighting anymore.
The stench of the burnt bodies was still in the air and it wasn’t anything to be proud of. People had fallen and none from the Incayon side had managed to rise up above it all.
It was like a dare of sorts, but when Daehyun stayed in the dungeon alone, he couldn’t help but feel relaxed.
’I can still feel the links, so that doesn’t mean something,’ the Calindra beta said to himself even though the choices were getting louder and louder.
He didn’t mind, because honestly, his greatest fear had been the fact that his brother and his Luna were dead. And as it was, the Incayon warriors were all accounted for, and no one was dead.
Daehyun had been waiting for the past ten days to tell what was happening, and while he had long given up any hope of getting Rania and knew the truth, he could tell that something had changed.
There was a shift, one that even he was a prodigy of.
For some reason, it comforted him knowing that he hadn’t broken the links yet. But then with Incayon, there was no telling who was who and how long their bonds would have to hold.
It was all a gamble, the kind that even he would never be prepared for. It was too huge a dimmable, but then what else was there for him other than hope that things would be alright?
’What is that noise?’ the sleeping General wondered to herself as she listened to the nose that was out there. She could hear cheers and shouts. The joy and celebration outside could be heard even in the guest room where the general lay.
She could hear mentions of the butcher of truth and dare and she could hear the warriors happy.
It was something that she wasn’t used to and she wasn’t going to pretend like her whole world hadn’t come to a standstill with the way she had managed to sleep for the whole day and frankly, she wished she could sleep more.
The tranquility in the past week may have been haunting on her end, but it had been something that she had valued. She owns her friends who are the chaos masters and she knew they would all do whatever they could to make the situation lively.
Even for the noise she was sharing, Rania could tell that Lim Dalrae had something to do with the outcome of all this. She won’t know what life had changed for many and she knows that her sister was doing her best holding the fort.
It was quite the miracle thinking that she had managed to rope in the other misfits who thought they were too old for the games.
Regardless, they had joined in, because those games were the only reminder they had of what a happy Kim Rania looked like, they were the rough of hope, the reality that their lives may have been at a standstill, but that there was always, always going to be hope for them.
Perhaps it was for the best, right? 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
’As long as they are happy?’ Rania wondered even though she was so close to telling them to shut the fuck up and let her sleep. But she knew that this was a deserved happiness.
So, she turned and tossed at the new interference of a night that she had expected would be lonely. A subconscious was active, her wolf was relaxed and her Lycan had made peace with the new reality.
The happiness was contagious, and while she couldn’t exactly go out and dance with them, she knew she had made the right choice when she chose her friends. Her people were safe so she had nothing to worry about as she made her exit plan.
For a moment Rania contemplated leaving Incayon and going to the Cezaevi to complete her vengeance. But then she could already hear her sister’s voice in her head warning her against going to deal with her prisoners alone.
Granted, she was strong, powerful, ruthless, and the most feared woman in the realm, but this was a fight she didn’t have to go at it alone. She had family even if her parents had disowned her. She was not alone anymore.
Sighing, Rania featured she could get up and see what was happening out there instead of pulling a disappearance act again.
She tried to move her body and unexpectedly, she managed to get up, unlike what she had thought, given the hits she had taken in the long war. She faltered for a moment, as she pushed herself to get up.
She was still dizzy thanks to the thousands of people she had killed in the war. However, that was enough motivation for her to keep going after all, she was THE Kim Rania.
"I promise, I’ll make it all better and make our home worth living in," Rani said as she stumbled through the door of Kaiaa’s guest room.
She pushed herself to take the next step even though her body was failing her as she walked across the pack house towards her bedroom. Her room had the perfect balcony that gave her the best view of the entire pack.
From there she could see for herself the kind of madness that her friends had instigated even though she knew she wouldn’t give herself up for that.
So, to make it all interesting for them she cast a night spell that would keep Incayon pack for a while longer and allow them all to forget the horrors of the day.
She decided to keep the lights off to avoid turning the attention to her even though she knew they would be happiest if they knew she had finally woken up after the long wait.
And so, she watched over them like a mother to her kids, making sure to note the times that her warriors smiled; which was a lot.
"They would be so happy if you went down and danced along with them. Your disappearance, even though momentary, left them anticipating the worst," a familiar voice interrupted Rania’s line of thought.
Though, it was one that she would gladly listen to any time of the day.
She didn’t turn back to see who it was and instead just kept on watching the happy warriors in the distance and making a mental note to always find a way to keep Incayon happy.
"I know. But I want to watch them because seeing them happy gives me hope that perhaps I wasn’t the monster my parents told them I was.
"And that when this is all done so could leave knowing I saved us," Rania said thoughtfully, the admiration in her voice for the army that had rallied for her and stood beside her even though they had no reason to trust her, so clear.
Of course, her sister had told her countless times that the tides had changed and that the warriors understood her and the decisions she had made when she declared war on Obren.
"If you leave, I leave with you. You already know that," Dalrae’s disappointed voice came through the door making Rania instantly turn.
"Lim Lim, I—"
