Chapter 375: One Last Time

[RANIA]

With Dalrae’s declaration, the changes in Incayon and the kingdom became more obvious. The people had accepted Chang Wook as their Alpha, seeing as Rania had decided to step down and let her brother take over.

She wanted to be free and they let her be just that, of course, Kaia had been with her every step of the way as she adjusted to the changes in their home.

It was more than they had anticipated, and more than they could ever come forward to accept. This was like a phase of their lives that had nothing for them to show.

At the people’s palace, Moonbin had taken over as the king and had the support of the entire Incayon army. Rania Dalrae still had the royal seal, given that she was the heiress of the kingdom.

Of course, many people had been skeptical when she had stepped forward to the entire Obren and claimed she was the heiress. But then with the help of the moon goddess, Lim Dalrae was able to affirm her palace as the heiress to the throne.

Sure, she was supposed to be the queen of the kingdom, but she preferred to help Moonbin. So Moonbin stayed the face of the royalty, while Kim Dalrae ran the kingdom with his help.

It was an arrangement that many had thought wouldn’t work, especially given how psychotic the Kim sisters were, but then it wrecked, and more than they had expected. So much had happened in their lives and they all just wanted peace.

"They will be free after serving time for thirty years," was Dalrae’s answer when asked about her parents.

She knew everyone was expecting her to overturn Rania’s decision, seeing as the psycho Alpha had stepped down and despite being the first female Lycan, she had chosen to stay out of the limelight.

Instead, she and Kaia chose to live in a cottage right out of Incayon. It was a beautiful cottage that was fit for the two of them. Two mates who had spent their entire lives in battle, and who had only ever wanted to be accepted.

Of course, their friends would drop by a few times to check on them, but it was safe to say that the two of them were the happiest alone. They had worked so hard for that and they earned the rest.

Seeing as Han Seong and Paloma were both rulers of their individual kingdoms, they opted to spend time in both kingdoms.

The Valley of the Whites was suddenly more welcoming of the Altunia wolves, while the rogues of Altunia were welcoming at the races.

It wasn’t that hard to tell, given that the misfits were the leaders of the factions and were easily the most powerful of the lot.

Oshita and Odelia lived in Altunia, running the kingdom on days when Paloma and Han Seong went to the valley of the wires. At first, it was easy, but then over the years, Paloma and Han Seong decided to rule the Valley of the Whites and give Odelia and Oshita, Altunia.

It was not a risky shot, given how much they trusted each other. The best part of it all, was that the realm had come to a consensus and drafted a law in place. The one law that did forbid the races from casting out their wrongdoers and rogues.

Instead, new punishments were out in the palace for the people who broke the law. The argument had been that there wasn’t a sin so terrible that would change their truth. And so, the rogue system was eliminated.

Altunia grew into a kingdom on its own, with its people from different races. It was a beautiful home and a rich one for a fact. They reproduced and made their home into something that was envied by many, but not to the point of wanting an invasion.

Eventually, the realm was slowly learning to live in peace with each other.

Of course, they had also made peace with the fact that they had wronged the psycho of Incayon and had deserved the punishment. Sure, lives were lost, but they all agreed that they were at war.

Daehyun became the Alpha of the new Calindra, a pack that managed to be as strong as it had been before Rania had annihilated half the population.

He had made sure to tell the story of their Luna, who was banished by their Alpha, and a Luna who deserved better than the fates, and the remaining Alphas had treated her. In the quest for peace, so many changes were made and there was hope.

At the palace, Dong Moonbin spent years missing his mate. He had loved and protected the kingship for his mate, but nothing could ever fill the void that was left by Jeon Jungwoo.

Granted, he knew the punishment was deserved, but he hoped time would pass by first. The consequences for what had happened had been a little too cruel but there was no denying that in the end, the only thing the wolves were bad, was themselves.

They had to be in support of each other.

The vampires had learned their lessons the hard way, and Bai Ting had become their king, seeing as he was the king’s brother.

He hadn’t wanted the position but after waiting for his brother for years, he figured he would take over and then leave when his brother came back. He also made sure that the vampires weren’t roadkill for the hybrids anymore.

If anything, they signed peace treaties with the misfits and made sure that no one would ever fall victim to the worst war that they all ever experienced. The long war had been won that had torn through them in ways that they would take centuries to revoke.

It was however more than obvious that the log war was never going to be forgotten. The war that could have been prevented, had the people been kinder and more understanding.

For thirty years, there was peace in Obren and the surrounding realms. Everyone thought everything would be fine when the royals were freed from the Cezaevi.

However, when the time came, the entire realm was met with the shock of their lives. So much so that the Lycans who had made a vow of peace, had to come out of retirement.

"I guess it’s time to gear up, my love," Master Kaia said to his wife, Rania Chihiro, who was watching the sun, with their ten-year-old son, Akira Chihiro.

"Ma, can I come along too?" Akira asked, as he looked at his father who was shrugging, as if to tell his son that Rania had the last say about that. Granted, their son was well trained but it was only for self-defense purposes, and not war.

"No son. The time will come for you to join us on the battlefield. But until then, you’ll be in Incayon, with your cousin, Kim Namgil, given your aunt Dalrae should be joining us in this battle," Rania said with a smile and her son just nodded in understanding.

He had lived a healthy life with his parents, and despite being born of broken parents, Akira Chihiro was easily a Lycan child of love.

"I can make a portal to Incayon then, right?" Akira asked and his mother just smiled proudly.

"Are you ready champ?" Master Kaia asked as he stood next to his wife and son. He loved them so much it was impossible to even gauge. He had found true happiness and Rania had given him another bundle of joy. This was the best thing that happened to him.

"Yes, papa," Akira said cheerily. Even though he knew his parents were going to another battle. But even then, he wasn’t worried, because his parents were powerful. His aunts and uncles were powerful and their entire family could take care of itself.

"Okay, create the portal and let’s take you to Nam Gil," Rania said lightly as she watched her son stretch exaggeratedly.

He always did this when it came to portals, but he also reminded Rania that this was what life was like for them all. They had a reason to keep fighting, and more than anything, they had a reason to come back home. Akira was not just their life, but their lifeline.

As the Chihiro family went through the portal to Incayon, the other misfits were making their way too, for one last battle with the royals.

Perhaps it wouldn’t be as bloody as the last one, but given the way the royals had come to disrupt the peace of the realm, mercy was not going to be on the table.

At least that much Rania Chihiro knew, and would make sure of it.
