Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 102: Fiona
Chapter 102: Fiona
Eldric sat in his private study going through a letter he had just received when he heard a gentle knock on the door, one completely unlike the way his guards knocked.
It was soft, and Eldric didn’t have to wonder who it was as he knew the second he heard it. Even more, he knew the reason why they were knocking to see him too, courtesy of the letter he had just received from the leader of his elite guards.
The knock came again, gentle and soft but much louder and forceful this time around, and Eldric couldn’t help but release a heavy sigh of exasperation as he shifted his gaze away from the letter in his hand and back to the door before giving the person permission to enter.
Not surprised to watch the door gently push open to reveal Fiona, his daughter, who walked in with a delicate smile on her face. She wore a long straight gown, but one tight enough to show every curve of her body.
Her hair was long, reaching her waist, and Eldric couldn’t help but feel proud of the daughter he had carefully adopted and cultivated for her beauty.
Her steps were measured as she moved towards him, offering a gentle and subtle bow the second she got to where he was and stood on the opposite side of the table where he was seated.
"Father!" she greeted, with Eldric nodding his head in approval as he responded.
"Would you like a seat?" knowing her answer even before she gave it as she lightly shook her head.
"No, Father! The last thing I want to do is disturb you!" she responded.
"Yet! You came here anyways! You couldn’t wait for me to step out?" a light warning in his tone as he spoke.
"Go ahead! What did you need to tell me that couldn’t wait?" Eldric asked, even though he already knew why. The evidence was in the letter in his hand, one he was confident she had also received from her own informants.
"Father! I heard a—"
"Fiona! You know how much I hate it when people beat around the bush! If you have something to say...spit it out!" Eldric snapped, and she lowered her head in a lower bow as a form of apology before she continued to speak.
"I needed to ask you at what time you think it would be best to kill Cain’s new lover!" she said, her tone still very demure and gentle as she spoke. Even though her gaze on the floor was severe enough to burn a hole through it.
"I’m sure you’ve also received the information about Cain publicly announcing him to everyone to be treated with respect! This goes against our plans! The next thing we know, he could be marrying a MAN!" her tone a little higher as she emphasized it, even though she knew better than to make an expression that didn’t in any way complement her beautiful features in front of her adoptive father.
"If you give me permission, I can get it done before the day is over!" she said, waiting patiently for Eldric’s response, only to start to worry when instead of getting it, she was met with silence.
Eldric’s attention was back on the paper in his hand, even as her impatience slowly grew and she grew more agitated as the silence stretched.
Still, Fiona stood completely still, waiting for her father to respond, confident that Eldric would support her since allowing the lover to live went against their plans.
Only to hear something completely different when Eldric finally opened his mouth to speak. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"You will not harm the lover!" Her mouth already dropping open to argue on the matter, only to hear Eldric continue, an irritated look in his eyes that had her shutting up and waiting for him to finish like a proper lady should.
"From the information I received!" Eldric continued speaking, tossing the letter in his hand in Fiona’s direction as he continued speaking.
"Cain seems to care a little about this lover! A weakness we can and should exploit instead of getting rid of it!"
"We can bring the lover over to our side! From the poor background he seems to have, we should have no problems bribing him or blackmailing him if it comes to it!"
"But Father! What if we can’t? What if he refuses?" doing her best to stamp down her agitation and bitterness at not being able to shout and react the way she wanted to.
"Then we’ll go from there, but before then...you do not touch this lover! Do you understand me, Fiona?" Eldric asked, raising his voice as he did, his eyes blazing fierce in a way that showed that he would not stand being disobeyed.
Fiona’s reaction was to nod and accept her instructions like she always did and like she had been trained to do, but the more she thought about it, the more she refused to act like the shy little puppy her father wanted her to be.
Her mouth opened to release words before she could hold herself back.
"If you’re going to keep the lover alive, then I have a request of my own, one that will ensure that our plans do not continue to become derailed!" she boldly said, lifting her gaze to meet her father’s eyes to show just how serious she was about what she wanted to say.
Eldric was surprised but didn’t show a single hint of it as he nodded and gestured for her to continue speaking.
"I request that I be allowed to move into Cain’s mansion! I can learn what Cain sees in this lover, and it would help me to also get closer to Cain!"
Fiona said, her heart racing and thumping in her chest, even as she schooled her face into one of nonchalance as she waited for Eldric, her father, to respond.
The more she showed that she cared about it, the higher the possibility that he would deny her the opportunity to.
"...hmmm!!! Too many things could go wrong; moreover, the love potion isn’t ready yet!" Eldric responded, and Fiona could already feel her hope of him accepting withering ever so slowly, even as she opened her mouth to respond.
"...yes, but the aphrodisiac you gave me is!" Fiona responded with a gentle expression on her face, one that showed no sinister intentions and looked so innocent one would have assumed that such a word was something that would have never slipped out of her mouth.
Satisfied to see Eldric look up right at her with a sinister smile on his own face, even as she continued speaking.
"...if I get the chance, I’ll do it. A child is all we need, Father! I know better than to jeopardize the plan!" she promised, lying through her teeth, even as the only reason she needed to go to Cain’s mansion was to get Cain’s attention away from his lover and on her.
’Cain is mine! I refuse to allow a fucking man to take him away from me!’ The embarrassment that Cain, the person she had boasted to her friends about, was dating a MAN! Was already too terrible a pill to swallow.
"Hmmm!!!! That could work!" Eldric mumbled to himself, but as a werewolf, it was almost like he had been whispering it into Fiona’s ears as she smiled, hearing him continue to speak.
"I’ll invite Cain! You should move into the house in a week!" he said with a tone of finality that made Fiona want to breathe out a breath of relief, only for her to hold it in as she recalled her father’s many training and beatings.
’If it’s not ladylike, then you had better not do it!’
’I might not be able to have anything of my own...or even a parent that genuinely loves me...but I want a man I love who will love me and only me!’ Her mind set on Cain and making him fall completely and utterly in love with her. Even if she was to die trying.
After Eldric had given her the response she wanted, she gently and with elegance bowed her head and said her goodbyes before turning around to leave and walk out the door. But she had just placed her hand on the door handle when she heard Eldric speak to her.
"You might be my daughter, Fiona! But don’t expect to be treated any differently! Next time! Wait for me to step out!" he warned, and Fiona nodded her head in understanding.
Just because it seemed like she could enter his office didn’t mean that she actually had permission to do so unless he specifically asked for her.
"I understand, Father!" she said, closing the door gently and softly behind her. It wasn’t until she got back in her room with the door closed that she ripped off the gown she wore with her bare hands. Her eyes blazing with hate and fury as she opened her mouth and screamed, almost like she had been stuck in a prison, one she could never get out of.
