Chapter 103: Entanglement

"Ca-Cain!" Violet stammered, barely managing to get his name out before her words were swallowed by his lips pressing against hers. His kiss was fervent, insistent, his tongue teasing hers with a confidence that left no room for escape.

She tried to resist, struggling against the heat that threatened to overtake her, but her resolve wavered the moment his hands brushed her back. His touch was deliberate, firm yet teasing, his fingers trailing across her bare skin with an intimacy that sent shivers cascading down her spine.

When his hands began to drift toward the sides of her chest, Violet’s instincts kicked in. Her heart raced, a jolt of alarm slicing through her haze of confusion. She slapped his hands away and jerked back, her arms crossing over her chest as she tried to cover herself. Despite her efforts, she couldn’t ignore the way his smoldering gaze lingered on her body, searing her with a mix of desire and dominance.

"What the hell do you think you’re doing?" she demanded, her voice shaky but filled with a forced defiance. She should’ve climbed off his lap and put as much space as possible between them, but instead, she stayed there, asking a question she already knew the answer to.

Cain’s lips curled into a smirk, a taunting, unapologetic expression that made her stomach flip. "What? Are you really going to pretend you don’t enjoy it when I touch you?" His voice was low, almost a purr, dripping with condescension as though her denial would only amuse him further.

Her lips parted to argue, but he leaned closer, his breath warm against her ear. "Coward," he murmured, the word like a challenge that sent a pulse of anger and something darker through her

Violet’s lips parted to retort, but Cain cut her off, his mouth grazing her ear as he whispered again, "We would both enjoy this more if you were a willing partner." The warmth of his breath sent a reluctant shiver down her spine as he continued, nibbling lightly on her earlobe in a way that made her pulse quicken despite herself.

"Why should I when I can have someone else—" Violet was mid-retort angry at the confidence he exhumed almost like he had done it a thousand times when she suddenly felt her world flip. She gasped as her back hit the bed, her body now splayed against the sheets, her breath stolen by the realization that her chest was completely bare beneath Cain’s towering frame.

His eyes, dark and full of hunger, bore into her with an intensity that left her trembling. The weight of his gaze was suffocating, and the sight of his equally bare form above her only heightened her alarm.

"I-I re—" she began, attempting to voice her refusal, but Cain interrupted her, his tone sharp and firm.

"Since we’re making deals, I’ll give you something you want in exchange," he offered, his voice laced with a dark promise. His eyes flickered with an unreadable emotion as he stared at her, his words catching her off guard. Cain wasn’t the kind of man to negotiate—this sudden offer felt like a trap.

"In exchange, I expect you to be very receptive in bed," he continued, his tone a low growl that sent a jolt of fear and confusion through her. Violet’s surprise was evident, her heart hammering in her chest as she struggled to process the unexpected turn of events.

A thousand thoughts raced through her mind, not least of which was the terrifying realization that Cain could easily take what he wanted if he so chose. He hadn’t hurt her yet, but the danger that lingered beneath his composed exterior was undeniable. She didn’t want to push him into revealing what else he was capable of.

Before she knew it...like usual she began to make excuses "I-I’ve never tried it before. I’m not even sure it’s something I want," Violet admitted softly, her voice trembling with sincerity as she tried to gauge whether there was another way to diffuse the situation.

But something flickered in Cain’s eyes—a shadow of disappointment, perhaps—and then, without warning, he rolled off her. He moved to the edge of the bed and began buttoning his pants with cold, deliberate movements.

"If you’re not sure, then forget it," he said icily, his tone cutting and devoid of the heat that had suffused it moments ago. The abrupt shift left Violet panicking, a sudden urgency taking root in her chest.

Cain offered her a final glance, his expression unreadable as he stood and adjusted his clothes. "We’ll continue to sleep together, but I see no reason why you should live here. I’ll have the servants move you to a different room," he declared, his voice devoid of warmth, his words sinking into Violet like stones.

Her mind raced. Cain’s offer had been a chance—not just to earn his favor, but to gain some semblance of control over him. She could use it to tip the scales, even if it came at the cost of her dignity.

’If he wants my body... It’s not like there’s anybody else more deserving of it,’ she rationalized, biting her lip as she considered the potential power she could wield if she played along yet the thought of accepting and walking into uncharted territories also terrified her.

But just as she opened her mouth to speak, Cain, now halfway to the bathroom, added over his shoulder, "...We’ll continue to share a bed, but I won’t force you. I’m no longer interested." His tone was final, his back turned to her.

Violet’s panic surged. Was he walking away from her for good? This was her moment, and she couldn’t let it slip.

"A favor for every request," she blurted out, her voice trembling but clear.

Cain stopped in his tracks, his shoulders stiffening. When he turned, his expression was darker than she’d ever seen it, his lips twisting into a cruel smile. The intensity of his gaze made her shrink slightly under its weight. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"What do I look like? A pimp?" His voice was sharp, mocking, and filled with anger. "Violet, like I said before, I won’t force you. And now, I’m no longer interested."

The words stung, but she couldn’t back down now. She opened her mouth to speak again, desperate to salvage something from the situation, but Cain cut her off, his voice a growl that sent a chill down her spine.

"Get out," he snapped, his tone brooking no argument.

"...You’re not forcing me. This is—"

"NOW! Before I do something we’ll both regret!" he barked, his voice so sharp and commanding that Violet jerked back, scrambling to grab her shirt off the floor.

Her hands shook as she slipped it on, her fingers fumbling with the buttons as she avoided looking at Cain. She could see him from the corner of her eye as he shed the rest of his clothing, his back turned to her as if dismissing her entirely.

Her hand was on the door handle, ready to leave, but she hesitated. The weight of what had just happened pressed heavily on her chest. Walking out meant distancing herself from Cain, preparing for the day he’d replace her with someone else and leave her to fade into obscurity.

But as she stood there, frozen, a sobering realization hit her: pretending she wasn’t already entangled with Cain was nothing more than self-delusion.
