Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 146: Love potion again?
Chapter 146: Love potion again?
But unknown to him, Fiona was barely holding in her anger as she lowered her gaze and spoke even more softly than she usually did.
"That’s good!" Fiona bit through her mouth as she stood there as elegantly as she could, her father’s teachings ingrained in her body as she continued speaking. "It’s what you—" but again, Cain didn’t let her finish as he cut in.
"She already woke up, and I spoke to her!" His main purpose was to sound her out—something he intended to thoroughly do.
"Do you have anything to say?" A sly smile played on his face as he noted the way her hand began to tremble ever so slightly. She moved her hands behind her back to hide it. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Fiona could already feel her heart thumping in her chest, even as she did her best to control it—and failed. It was already too much that she was alive. The fact that Cain had spoken to her meant that Violet’s brain was also in perfect order.
Incompetent fools! she swore to herself as she fixed her eyes on Cain, recalling the bloody sight she had seen, which could only have been his doing—especially since no alarms had sounded to signify that they were being attacked.
Instead of answering his question, she asked one of her own, "Did you k-kill everyone?" she asked with the tiniest bit of hesitation, which she buried deep as the words spluttered out of her chest.
"I coup-could smell blood, and—"
"You saw it?" Cain asked her, convinced there was no way she could smell anything on him after he had painstakingly washed himself clean. Unless she had stepped out of her room and down the stairs, she shouldn’t have smelled anything.
"That’s good!" he said as he pulled away from where he had been resting against the door and moved closer to where she stood, satisfied to see her immediately react by trying to move away.
"...I’ll ask you again, Fiona, before my anger takes over and I decide to dissect your head from your shoulders! Did you have something to do with Violet’s disappearance?"
"...my-my father won’t sit back and let you—" Fiona stuttered, using her father’s name to threaten Cain, only to watch in shock as Cain’s hand shot forward and snatched her neck, squeezing.
"Sure! But you see...the problem is that your father is not here!" Cain said in a light tone that showed he wasn’t even straining and would have no problems breaking her neck. Fiona began to wheeze.
"Did you order it?" he asked her in a cool tone, releasing his hold ever so slightly to allow her to breathe and talk, only to see her cough violently as she glared at him with anger-filled eyes.
"He’s a man! How can you even dare to fuck a—"
But she didn’t finish before Cain’s hand slammed into the side of her face, sending her to the ground and splitting her lip as blood slid down to her jaw.
"...Cain! Cain—I’m the one who cares about you! With me, you can have children and a family of—"
"If you keep saying nonsense, I can’t promise that I won’t mistakenly kill you!" he again cut her off as he squatted in front of her, his eyes fixed on her face.
"To start with...I could shave your hair that you’re so proud of—and your eyebrows. It’ll take months to grow back!" he said, satisfied to see the horror etched on her face as she raised her head to look right at him.
"Moreover...as a werewolf, there are a lot of things I could do to you that won’t scar!" he continued, his gaze fixed on her in a way that ensured she knew he wasn’t joking.
Yet still, Fiona simply glared at him with fury lit in her eyes as she sat on the floor, angry that the man she loved would hurt her because of a fucking lover that should have been dead.
"Was your lover in proper health? It must have been bad if you didn’t see the need to bring him here, and—"
But Fiona didn’t finish as her screams filled the air. She wasn’t a werewolf, and her instincts were sharper than most with a weaker bloodline than hers. Yet she had been stunned not to see the attack until it happened, as Cain reached forward and tore her arm off from its socket like it was a string attached to a ball.
The blood, the breaking of bone—but beyond that, it was the pain that almost drove her mad. For a moment, she could not properly think as tears poured down her face, even as she gritted her teeth, trying to breathe through it.
"I don’t have much time. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t already know the truth!" Cain told her with a cruel expression, showing he was completely willing to tear off the second arm if she continued to remain stubborn.
"I-I fucking hate you, Cain!" she screamed at him, realizing that apart from her father, no one else had ever dared to hurt her—and even more hurt that it was someone she loved and hoped would fall for her too. She glared at him with hate-filled eyes.
"You should thank me!" Cain sincerely responded, knowing that if Violet had been coherent enough to mention Fiona’s name, she would already be dead. Eldric would fight him, but at that point, violence was something Cain seemed to crave. Now that he had Violet back and didn’t need the red potion anymore, he saw no need to continue keeping the peace.
It’s better to be clear enemies than to continue pretending to be friends!
"Did you do it?" he asked her again.
This time Fiona chuckled as she looked right into his eyes and spoke. "If I did it...your lover would be dead!" she enunciated every word to show how much she meant it, her eyes blazing with nothing but hatred.
Cain didn’t believe her, but at the same time, he didn’t see the need to rush. He got back to his feet.
"You will need to reattach your arm. I’ll send a doctor over," he told her as he headed toward the door.
It’ll be good to reattach it so I can tear it off again when the need arises! he thought as he raised his hand to pull open the door, only to hear Fiona speak from behind him as she lay on the ground, her hand still bleeding, though the flow had reduced compared to when it began.
"Cain! Have you never cared about me? We grew up together! Doesn’t that mean anything?" she asked with tears in her eyes, feeling her heart breaking into a thousand pieces, only to go completely still as she heard Cain respond while walking out the door and slamming it behind him.
"...I would care once you’re dead!"
Her entire body trembled from the coldness of his words, even as she continued to sit on the floor, anger boiling into rage within her.
"FUCK! IF THAT LOVER WAS DEAD! HE WOULD LOVE ME!" she swore to herself, convinced it was true and that his heart was simply being poisoned by a male witch.
I just need to get my hands on a love potion! she thought, wondering how the lover had gotten something her father hadn’t been able to find.
