Chapter 150: Eldric’s Visit

William had just stepped out of the cell with the box in his hand, about to walk further away from it, when a man dressed in completely dark clothes stepped closer to William with a severe expression on his face as he spoke.

"Is she dead?" he asked with a severe expression on his face that showed that he was completely serious, meeting William’s gaze with a fierce look on his own face.

"She’s not dead! I accepted her as my mate!" William responded, not surprised to see a shocked expression appear on the face of the man in front of him, who spluttered before asking with a serious look on his face.

"Have you—have you gone mad?" he gasped, to which William chuckled, shaking his head. "You might be my best friend, Fervor, but I’m still Lord!" William responded even as he moved aside and began to walk away, but Fervor wasn’t about to allow him as he hurried after him.

"...the plan was to send pieces of her as warning for Eldric to send you the real antidote. It would have even been fine if you tortured her to accept you before rejecting her! Have you gone soft!" Fervor snapped, doing his best to keep his voice at a leveled tone and failing horribly at it.

"No! I’m still sane. Just because I have a couple of months left to live doesn’t mean my brain is rotting!" William snapped, a tinge of annoyance in his tone, which immediately made Fervor become much calmer than before as he continued to speak.

"You can still get more time once you get the anti—"

"Even if I get it, all I’ll get is a couple of years before Eldric finds a way to take control of the district and make it his own considering I don’t have any family members left!"

"...so what’s the plan? I refuse to believe that you’ve fallen for his daughter and you’re planning to live happily ever after with her!" Fervor responded, even as he frowned deeply, trying to keep the anxiety in his tone under wraps and failing as he internally wondered what was going through William’s head.

"She’s my mate, and of course I feel a connection with her, and my plan is pretty simple..." William sighed, even as he walked faster, feeling his body get weaker—weak enough for him to want to fall on the ground and simply lie there, unable to move a muscle—even as he struggled to continue walking.

"...for the rest of my days, I’ll live happily with her until she falls utterly in love with me!"

"What? That’s a shitty plan! Why would you even—"

"...so that even when I’m dead, she’ll become a thorn in his flesh!" William continued, but Fervor was already shaking his head.

"And what makes you think that he won’t kill her if she becomes too much of a pain in his flesh?" Fervor asked, to which William simply shook his head.

"Not if she’s pregnant!" he responded. Moreover, William also had a second reason for keeping her in his mansion, having moved her far away to his own district.

’Eldric is bound to think that Cain was the one who had done something to his daughter, and I can’t wait to see how that enmity plays out,’ he thought to himself before ordering Fervor to release her and get her into cleaner rooms while he took his long naps.

’Moreover... after the stick is the carrot!’ realizing that it wouldn’t even be that hard to make her someone he could control.

Cain didn’t like Fiona, but there was no way he would allow her to die from the loss of blood, sending the doctor right to her room the second he left before heading straight to interrogate the prisoners in the basement, only to get news of how she was no longer in her rooms and couldn’t be found.

Cain didn’t even hesitate to send the guards back to their posts after it had been confirmed using her smell that she had willingly left the mansion after bribing the workers still cleaning up the dead bodies and the people that survived.

Cain didn’t care and somewhat hoped that she didn’t return, knowing that if it truly became clear that she had done all the things he had accused her of and lied about it, he might just kill her in anger.

He was again about to head to the basement and continue his questioning, seeing as they still had different parts he could cut away, when his body suddenly began to become heavier than usual. He didn’t feel the intense need to transform considering the fact that he had transformed a few hours prior, but at the same time, it felt like his body felt twice as heavy as before.

Turning around, he returned back to his room where Violet was still passed out, settling into the bed as he wrapped his arms around her with a heavy sigh on the tip of his lips as he buried his head in her chest.

The satisfaction he felt was immense, and he allowed himself to settle in it as he realized that he would truly have been very pissed to find out that she was dead, even as his arms around her tightened ever so slightly as he drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Cain didn’t see the need to keep up with the facade of him having needed to transform and go wild the night before, considering that the bloodbath he had created would have been more than enough to explain why his beast was calmer.

Violet was still fast asleep even as Cain bathed and dressed up in his usual clothes, a black shirt and pants, as he stepped out of the room, not surprised to see Ravon already bowing in front of the door with his eyes fixed on the ground. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"My lord!" he called, his voice much more submissive than usual as Cain noticed that his voice shook a little even as he spoke. "Lord Eldric is here to see you!" he said, and Cain nodded in response, truly understanding why his face seemed pale and why he looked like he was about to drop to the ground.

After what happened the night before, Cain had no doubt that Ravon was scared of him, but beyond that, he was also aware that he was terrified of Eldric, who held the life of his parents in his hands.

"Okay!" Cain responded as he headed down the stairs with his hands in his pockets and back straightened proudly with authority that showed that he was the one in charge. Not surprised to get beneath the stairs and see new servants walking around the corridors, bowing to him and avoiding him like a plague they could catch.

"More servants were recruited this morning. Most of them are from the lower districts!" Ravon pointed out a detail that Cain didn’t care about and simply nodded his head to as he headed straight out the mansion and towards the garden where he knew Eldric preferred to stay instead of entering the mansion itself.

But after walking for a while, Cain couldn’t help but smirk the second he laid eyes on Eldric, who stood near a tree with a dozen bodyguards around him as he glared carefully at Cain like he would like nothing but to kill him where he stood.

But it wasn’t until Cain got closer that Eldric opened his mouth to speak, "I covered for you the first time. Is that why you thought it was okay for you to kill your innocent servants?" he snapped in anger, but Cain simply chuckled in amusement like he found something funny.

’Eldric getting angry on behalf of innocent servants who he saw as ants is indeed funny!’ he thought to himself.
