Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 151: Threats

"Innocent servants?" Cain asked even as he moved closer with both hands in his pocket as he stared right at Eldric’s slowly reddening face as he fumed in anger even as Cain’s tone remained calm.

"If I knew you cared so much about the spies I killed, I would have sent their heads to you as a sign of our blossoming friendship!" Cain said meaning every word almost as much as he enjoyed seeing Eldric look like he was seconds away from dashing forward and slapping him.

Something he would have liked immensely since his teeth felt itchy enough for him to feel the need to sink his teeth into something warm and chewy only to see Eldric retain his calmness as he continued speaking.

"Where is my daughter? I haven’t heard from her in a while!" Eldric asked and Cain didn’t hesitate to answer.

"She sneaked out!" Cain responded with a shrug fully ready to show the video he had gotten from the cameras at the gate that she had joined a pair of doctors leaving after their shift. Moreover, he had also called a few of them to get their statements just in case.

Eldric could see the pride and arrogance all over Cain’s face as he responded which also gave him enough confidence to know that Cain wouldn’t dare kill his daughter considering the fact that it would mean that Cain would instantly no longer get the red potion that kept him sane and from fully becoming a wild wolf beast.

"Find her! I placed her in your care and—"

"—and she snuck away from me for a reason! She’s your daughter, find her!" Cain responded already getting bored of the conversation and went ahead to show it by the way his shoulders bristled in frustration his gaze already shifting away from Eldric as he turned to glance back at the mansion.

"You forget your place Cain! I am your uncle and—"

"—and I’m the lord of a district!" Cain snapped with unleashed anger and a darkness in his eyes as he stared at Eldric with open hostility which he had never before shown.

"Your daughter is your responsibility!" Cain told him even as he turned around to leave with his hands still deep in his pockets and a relaxed stance that only served to piss Eldric off even more than before as he watched Cain about to leave.

"What? You can’t wait to return into the embrace of your lover? I heard he’s seriously wounded and on the verge of death. He must not mean much if you can’t keep him safe!" Eldric said stating ordinary words even though to his ears Cain knew they were nothing but threats as he heard him continue.

"For his sake, I hope my daughter is in good health!" he finished even as he walked past Cain and headed back to the gate with his bodyguards who majestically followed behind him, none of them sparing a glance at Cain as they raised their heads proudly as they passed like the elite soldiers who they were.

But half of them had just passed when Cain stretched out his hand grabbed the neck of one of them, his bloodthirsty aura saturating the air in a way that made even Eldric himself who had been about to walk away turn to look back.

The guard whose neck Cain had grabbed instantly tried to fight back a completely shocked expression on his face as he realized that he couldn’t, almost like his own strength was below that of the one who had trapped him, seconds before his neck was snapped with a sickening crunch.

His body falling to the ground seconds later. The guards who stood beside him instantly bristled like he was about to dash forward and fight Cain only to freeze when he realized that he was the only one as others immediately distanced themselves from Cain under the guise of dashing towards Eldric to protect him.

His heart thumping in his chest as he realized that he was a tad slower than the rest only to also dash back.

"You should know better than to make threats in my backyard! Who knows! You might fall into a trap and not make it back!" Cain openly sent a threat of his own, one he meant as he toyed with the idea of killing Eldric right where he stood.

Impressed to see Eldric send a look of confidence and arrogance right back at him with a huge smirk on his face as he responded before turning around to leave.

"We both know all you can do is bark! Without me, you might as well be as good as dead!" Eldric boasted before turning around to leave not at all feeling any fear at having his back exposed, a confidence that Cain allowed him to have considering that when indeed he attacked, Eldric wouldn’t so much as see it coming.

By the time Eldric was gone with all his guards only the dead body of the guard who had failed to react in time remained on the ground, which Cain ignored as he headed back into the mansion, Ravon not following knowing better than to leave the body there since according to regulations he was to hang it on the walls as an example to others.

"I need to leave this place!" Ravon cursed under his breath as he recalled just how easily Cain had snatched the man’s neck and killed him imagining how easily it could be his own neck and how swiftly he would have died without being able to do anything about it.

’I’m living with a madman! A fucking madman!’ he swore to himself even as his limbs trembled ever so slightly the memory of all the blood he saw the night before still fresh in his mind.

"I just want to live! Is that too much to ask!" he mumbled out loud determined more than ever to do anything he could to ensure that he could get away from Cain’s mansion and be moved anywhere, knowing that every moment he spent by Cain’s side was a moment he walked closer to death itself.

"If you mention anything about me being in the stable before you then I might as well reveal that we’re all spies and we’ll die together!" Howie threatened the second they all woke up and he was sure that they were truly alone.

His plan had been to escape only for him to be stuck in a cell with three idiots who were scared out of their wits and could barely think as they threatened to gang up on him talking about how since the three of them had been together then it was likely that he was the culprit along with Reddrick.

"I would also give him enough proof which I’m sure that the three of you were too foolish to hide! Don’t mess with me!" Howie threatened again even as he sat leaning against the wall on one side of the cell as he stared at all three of them who leaned against the other side about to say more only to hear one of them scream at him in anger.

"Shut up! Shut the hell up!" he screamed as he gestured widely at himself, "I’ve already lost one eye! I refuse to lose another!" he screamed.

"Once Lord Cain gets here! We’re telling the truth about you! You’re not the boss of us!" he screamed and Howie was just beginning to worry about how things were playing out when he saw the other two send small nods at him in a way that showed that they were willing to side with him as long as he kept their secrets safe.

Howie didn’t smile in response as he hissed loudly and turned his head to face the wall saying words that were meant for the other two but which the angry one among them seemed to think was being spoken to him.

"If you drag me down...I’ll drag everyone down with me!" he confidently said knowing that he had enough information with his high rank as both a spy for Eldric and a guard to do so. But he had just spoken when the angry third began to rain insults at him in anger, spit spewing everywhere as he tried to get up and move only to be unable to walk more than a foot before his chains stopped him and he finally settled down as they all waited in silence for their fate.
