Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 92: Kill her!
Chapter 92: Kill her!
"Here? It must be pretty important for you to send me a message to meet even with all the mess going on," Vazer said as he slowly moved closer to Cain, his face and body warping from that of a young child with brown eyes to his usual size.
Tall, but unlike Cain, who had a more muscular frame, his body was leaner, even though it filled out the shirt and pants he wore, which also morphed to fit his original body.
"This place is safe. I made sure of it," Cain told him, to which Vazer simply shrugged with a smile on his face.
"What can I say? Who else can I show off my bloodline power to but you?" he responded, moving closer to lean against one of the containers in the shipping yard they both stood in as he continued to speak. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"You’ve secured the facility?"
"Javi lost! He should take the defeat!"
"You and I both know that he won’t. Knowing him, he might simply decide to destroy the facility out of spite!" Vazer pointed out, to which Cain immediately shook his head with a fully confident expression on his face as he spoke.
"I’ve already ordered that all the goods inside be moved! Even if he destroys it, the facility isn’t worth anything!" Cain responded, even as he also rested against the same container Vazer did.
They stood about five feet away from each other, facing away from each other as they talked, neither seeing the need to make eye contact as they focused their attention on their environment, prepared to get out at the first sign of trouble, which was usually inevitable.
A few moments of silence passed with neither of them talking, when Vazer, who had just glanced at his watch for the third time in a couple of moments, began to speak.
"I’m guessing you did not call me here to stargaze with you," he said as he looked at the dark sky that was completely devoid of both stars and the moon.
It was still dark, but they both knew that it was only a couple of hours until dawn, a time that was particularly dangerous to Vazer, who was a pure-blood Red.
The sun he could weather at other times, but for some reason, the one at dawn did more damage to pure-blood Reds.
"No! I called you here for something else," Cain responded, even as he went ahead to slowly say what it was, with a bit of hesitation in his tone.
"My mate is a woman! A witch, to be exact," Cain continued, not surprised to feel Vazer immediately turn his full attention to him, ignoring all else as Cain continued to speak.
"She’s dead?" Vazer immediately asked in a tone that sounded more like a statement. After what a powerful witch had done to him and his family, Vazer knew more than most Cain’s hatred towards them.
Just because one of them happened to be his mate didn’t mean that she would be spared—worse, one that had been masquerading as a man beside him.
"No! Locked up! I don’t think she’s connected to the Coven!" Cain sighed with a bitter tone, even as Vazer responded with a huge frown.
"Are you willing to take that chance? She must have changed her voice and her face with magic, which means that she’s definitely connected to them!" a sharp edge in his voice as he spoke.
"Yes, you need her to offset the consequences of the curse and not have to obey your uncle in return for the medicine, but she might be a worse enemy than you thought!"
"For all we know, she could be under Eldric’s direct control!" Vazer continued, even as Cain continued to coldly focus his eyes on the sky, almost like he could see through the dark layers in front of him.
"...Yeah, but that’s what I intend to find out. Reach out to your contacts in the Coven and find out if there’s anyone that matches her description!" Cain responded, even as he passed over a picture to Vazer, which he immediately snatched up.
"Cain! You can’t be serious!" Vazer snapped, even as he held the picture in his hands. "Even if she has no connection to the Coven, she’s a witch. Witches are banned in wolf districts!"
"Eldric keeps them!"
"Yes! But not in his district!" Vazer pointed out, trying to make Cain understand the point he was trying to make.
"If anyone finds out, she’ll die, and worse, the council will have a reason to dethrone you as lord of your district!" Vazer said, a huge frown on his face as he turned to face Cain squarely as he spoke.
"KILL HER! She’s not worth the trouble. The witch working under me is improving. She should be able to make the potion..."
"Soon? And how many years will I have to wait?" Cain asked, unchecked fury in his eyes, which he struggled to rein in.
"Which do you think is worse, Vazer? A man dying of thirst in the desert who has accepted his fate or one who was given a drink of cool water?" His golden-brown eyes blazing with something Vazer couldn’t quite describe.
"Just find out if she’s connected to the Coven. If she is, then I’ll kill her myself!" Cain said, just before he changed the subject a second later.
"...Be careful of Javi! He’s going to be more unpredictable after this loss!"
Vazer shook his head confidently with a smug smile on his face. "He can’t do a thing. He can’t kill me, and unlike werewolves, he can’t go after my family either. Our population of pure-bloods is already dwindling as it is. It’s an unwritten rule that such things should never be done!" Vazer replied with a shrug, a light-hearted smile on his face, one that showed that he was thinking of something that gave him much pleasure until his expression became much more serious.
"...Be careful, Cain!" Vazer said when he noticed that Cain had turned around to leave.
"...If you keep following this path, you’ll have a weakness you won’t be able to shake off!" Vazer warned, hoping that Cain understood what he was asking him to take note of, and not surprised to hear Cain’s response as he continued walking away.
"...As long as it’s a weakness I can also exploit. My heart is dead, Vazer...trust me," his tone much colder than Vazer had ever heard, even as Vazer stood in the dark and watched Cain continue to walk away towards his car.
"Yet...why does it sound like it had just been recently smashed into pieces?" Vazer mumbled under his breath as he turned and dashed in the opposite direction towards his own car.
Grumbling cheerfully under his breath, "If I had speed as my bloodline power, I would be home by now!" The only thought he had was seeing his parents and his two younger sisters. He had lived with them for centuries, but they were the only reason he was trying to stop Javi from becoming King over all Reds.
