Max-Level Metaphysician: A Debt Repayment Journey-Chapter 96 - : The Questioned Ancestor
Chapter 96: Chapter 96: The Questioned Ancestor
“No, no, it’s not like that!” Wang Xinjun was so anxious he was close to crying, “Zixin, listen to me, the Abbot really isn’t a fraud! Yesterday, I personally witnessed some things, there’s too much to tell in just a few words! Dad won’t hold anything against you and won’t be mad at you, but Dad hopes that you will take good care of yourself! Can you just tell Dad where you are, okay? Dad is begging you! If something happens to you, what is Dad supposed to do?”
Towards the end, Wang Xinjun broke down in tears, choking on his sobs.
Wang Zixin stayed silent for a moment, likely unable to refuse such a pleading father, and said in a low voice, “I’m staying at the Hengbin Hotel in H City. I want to play by the sea with Zihao for a few days; we’ll be back soon. Dad, you don’t have to worry.”
As soon as Wang Xinjun heard that Wang Zixin was indeed planning to spend a few days by the water.
Wang Xinjun’s legs went weak, and he nearly fainted, hastily saying, “Zixin! Zixin, listen to dad, you must take good care of yourself! Don’t get close to the water, Dad is coming over right now, you wait for me, you have to wait for Dad!”
Wang Zixin truly didn’t understand why Wang Xinjun believed Jiangli’s words so much.
Before, Dad didn’t believe in these things, either.
However, hearing the urgency and worry in Wang Xinjun’s voice, Wang Zixin couldn’t refuse.
Just as she was about to speak, she heard her boyfriend’s voice from not too far away.
“Zixin, it’s time to check in.”
“Coming!” Wang Zixin said upon hearing this, without time to say more, hastily said to Wang Xinjun, “Okay, Dad, I’m going to check in now. We’ll talk more about it later!”
After finishing her words, Wang Zixin hung up the phone.
Wang Xinjun heard the busy tone on the phone, turned to Jiangli, and quickly said, “Abbot, I, I need to make a trip to H City.”
Jiangli nodded her head, “If you want to go, then go.” She took out several pieces of Talisman Paper from her pocket and handed them to him, “Take these peace charms with you, they will keep you safe.”
Wang Xinjun took them, “How, how much do these talismans cost?”
“There’s no rush, we can settle that when you come back.” Jiangli waved her hand, not asking Wang Xinjun for money.
Wang Xinjun, filled with gratitude, thanked her over and over, then ran out with the Talisman Paper in hand.
Jiangli watched him leave, her stomach growling with hunger.
She touched her stomach and glanced at the time; it was already past four in the afternoon.
Starving to death.
Just as Jiangli was about to look for something to eat, her expression suddenly changed.
She looked up to see someone walking in from outside.
It was a woman, probably in her thirties, holding a toy in her hand. When she came in, she was looking around, as if searching for something.
Jiangli watched her, her eyes narrowing slightly, “Who are you looking for?”

Startled by the sound, the woman looked up abruptly, caught sight of Jiangli, and was taken aback, quickly shrinking back.
“Uhm, is this Jiaoyang Temple?” she asked nervously.
Jiangli nodded, her gaze never leaving the toy in the woman’s hand, “Who are you looking for?”
“I, I’m looking for the Abbot of Jiaoyang Temple. Is the old Abbot here? I would like to ask him for a favor,” the woman said, then added, “Maybe I forgot to introduce myself; my name is Zhang Meijuan. I used to live nearby and am quite a regular here at Jiaoyang Temple, but after I moved away, it’s been a while since my last visit.”
“Oh.” Jiangli responded indifferently, “Then you are out of luck, the old Taoist passed away not long ago, now I am the Abbot.”
Zhang Meijuan was startled, “What? When did this happen?”
“Just a few days ago.” Jiangli said, “But if there’s something you need help with, you can ask me. I should be more reliable than the old Taoist.”
Zhang Meijuan looked at Jiangli in astonishment, for by her age, she seemed young enough to be the granddaughter of the old Taoist.
