Chapter 35: Chapter 35 Why Did You Lie to Me
Chapter 35 -35 Why Did You Lie to Me
Chen Cheng looked up, his gaze sweeping through the crowd until it finally settled on a familiar figure—Tong Jialu.
The tight-fitting grey camisole dress accentuated her shapely figure perfectly.
Her carefully styled big wavy curls, each one shining enticingly, with a few strands draped over her cheeks, added allure.
She looked completely different from her usual self at work.
She quietly watched in Chen Cheng’s direction, waiting for his response.
“What’s up?
Got a friend over there?” Xiao Meier also glanced at the content on Chen Cheng’s phone, moving her body to the rhythm of the music by her ear and said with a laugh, “Invite them over, let’s have fun together!”
Feng Biao said, “Yeah!
The more the merrier!
We can’t finish all this alcohol by ourselves anyway!”
“Okay!” Chen Cheng stood up and waved at Tong Jialu.
Tong Jialu quickly received Chen Cheng’s signal, walked through the crowd, and approached.
With every step she took, her flesh wrapped in black silk trembled slightly, and those Valentino heels without platforms were stunning both to men and women.
“Brother Cheng!” Arriving at the table, Tong Jialu threw back the big wavy curls from her chest and smiled continuously.
Feng Biao’s eyes were glued on her.
He nudged Chen Cheng’s arm and mumbled softly, “Damn, when did you start getting so sweet?”
Chen Cheng replied, “It’s that Mercedes C, remember?
Don’t you recognize her?”
“Ah?
I really didn’t recognize her!”
Xiao Meier was also taken aback.
The girl in front of them was so beautiful and young, radiating a bubbling vitality.
Chen Cheng introduced, “Xiao Lu, this is my childhood buddy, Feng Biao, Mr.
Biao.”
He then introduced Xiao Meier, “This is Sister Er.”
“He is the manager Tong Jialu from the Bank of Beijing,” Chen Cheng finished the introductions.
Tong Jialu always felt that Feng Biao looked somewhat familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere.
But her attention was quickly drawn to Xiao Meier’s innate sultriness.
If her cousin Xia Yubing was the embodiment of cool abstinence, then Xiao Meier, who looked about her age, was a natural knockout.
“Hello,” Tong Jialu nodded in greeting, then moved besides Xiao Meier, “Sister, may I sit here?”
Xiao Meier shifted a little towards Chen Cheng’s direction and nodded, “Sure~”
All four of them sat down again.
Seeing that the atmosphere was a bit awkward, Chen Cheng said, “Xiao Lu, what a coincidence!
I didn’t expect to bump into you here!”
“I’m here for a friend’s birthday party.” Tong Jialu pointed to a large table not far away with a five-tiered cake on it.
She said with a smile, “I didn’t expect to run into Brother Cheng here either!”
Feng Biao opened the wine that Tong Jialu had brought and poured four glasses, “Here’s to serendipity, cheers!”
After clinking glasses, Tong Jialu didn’t linger too long and stood up.
“Brother Cheng, Mr.
Biao, and Sister Er, I won’t disturb you any longer,” she said, “I’ll be going over there.”
“Sure,” Chen Cheng nodded.
“Sister Er, see you next time~” Tong Jialu smiled squinting her eyes.
Xiao Meier nodded woodenly, “Yeah, goodbye.”
After she left, Feng Biao said, “And she’s gone just like that!
I didn’t even get to show off yet!”
“You’re using the wine she brought to toast her, what else did you expect?” Chen Cheng asked with a chuckle.
“Ah?
She brought this?” Feng Biao bulged his eyes, “No way?
Did I just embarrass myself big time?”
“No worries, you didn’t stand a chance anyway,” Chen Cheng said with a laugh.
Xiao Meier asked, “Xiao Cheng, are you close with her?
Why did she bring us so much stuff only to sit for a while and then leave?”
Chen Cheng replied, “We used to have business dealings with her bank when I was working, and later…”
“What happened after that?” Xiao Meier was visibly anxious.
Feng Biao chuckled, retelling the incident where he almost rear-ended a car last time, “That girl is quite rich, driving a Mercedes, hitting nightclubs, no shortage of money!”
Xiao Meier then breathed a sigh of relief.
Chen Cheng noticed this subtle change in expression, “What’s the matter, Sister Meier?”
“It’s nothing, nothing.”
“Cough, we’re all friends here! ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Why so tense?” Chen Cheng deliberately probed.
Xiao Meier, flustered, grabbed the beer on the table and took several big gulps, “No…nothing!”
Whistles rang out across the club, and the trio looked towards the source, witnessing an explosive scene.
Three to five scantily clad dancers had taken their place on several high platforms, first coquettishly teasing, then the music suddenly sped up, and twerking ensued.
Multicolored lights shone on their buttocks, creating a kaleidoscopic effect that dazzled the beholder.
Chen Cheng and Feng Biao both crossed their legs and, with a critical eye, watched this unexpected audio-visual feast unfold.
But Xiao Meier’s face turned beet-red; she didn’t know that bars played so wild these days, that people could be so unrestrained.
“Xiao Cheng, I need to go to the restroom.”
“Ah?
Oh, okay!” Chen Cheng stood up, “Let’s go; I’ll go with you.”
Upon seeing them about to leave, Feng Biao asked, “You’re not watching anymore?”
“I need to piss!!”
Chen Cheng escorted Xiao Meier to the restroom, “Sister Meier, I’ll wait for you here.”
“Okay.” Xiao Meier nodded.
Yet the next second, she felt she might as well have stayed at her seat.
Two young people, drunk, were passionately kissing by the door, completely oblivious to the gazes around them.
She muttered to herself, “Is everyone this open these days?”
Chen Cheng turned back and looked at the lively crowd in the dance area, letting out a deep sigh, “If only I were eight years younger.”
“Brother Cheng?”
Tong Jialu also came over, and said upon seeing Chen Cheng, “Haha, what a coincidence to see you here tonight?”
“Did you put a tracker on me?” Chen Cheng joked, “Yes, I owe your bank money, but I need some personal space, right?”
Tong Jialu covered her mouth and laughed, “Brother Cheng, stop teasing me!”
She stepped forward, “Brother Cheng, are we friends?”
“Yes, of course!”
“Then why did you lie to me?” Tong Jialu countered.
Chen Cheng’s mind raced with numerous guesses.
Lie?
Did she remember Feng Biao?
Figured out the Maybach isn’t mine?
“I didn’t lie to you, did I?” Chen Cheng said with a forced smile.
“You repeatedly said you don’t know who Jin Baogen is, but your commercial draft was made out to his company,” Tong Jialu stated frankly, “Can we not have some trust between us?”
Chen Cheng suddenly understood.
And Tong Jialu, feigning anger, lightly hit Chen Cheng’s arm.
Chen Cheng laughed, “Mr.
Jin, yes, I’m very familiar with him, no false.
But with you and Director Xia bluntly asking away, I didn’t know what you’re up to!”
A gleam of surprise flashed in Tong Jialu’s eyes, “You finally admit it?”
“Tell me, what is it?” Chen Cheng responded calmly, waiting for her to speak.
“Brother Cheng, if it’s convenient for you, I’d like to ask you to introduce me to Mr.
Jin Baogen,” Tong Jialu’s tone was very earnest.
In this club full of lies, it conveyed extreme sincerity.
Pouting her rosy lips, she gave a bow of over ninety degrees, “Please, I’m really counting on your help!”
