Chapter 543: Limitless Baker

Stepping out of the café, neither of them spoke. They simply walked side by side, their steps perfectly in sync, effortlessly matching each other’s rhythm.

It was as though they had rehearsed this harmony, and both seemed to enjoy the peaceful silence that lingered between them. There was no need for words in that moment, the quiet was enough.

"Are you planning on walking me back to my room?" Vega asked with a slight smile, her eyes still fixed ahead.

"I might," Anthony replied with a soft smile, his tone calm and playful.

Suddenly, Vega’s steps came to a graceful halt. Her eyes turned to Anthony as she spoke with a touch of finality, "Our walk ends here, Anthony."

Anthony nodded slightly, but his voice carried a subtle undertone of hope as he asked, "Can I meet you another time?"

He didn’t want to rush things. It didn’t feel right to spring a full date invitation on her after just meeting for the first time. The same caution was why he hadn’t invited her to his team yet.

It was better to meet once or twice more before making any meaningful requests. After all, understanding women completely wasn’t somthing any being in existence could boast about.

"Are you asking me out on a date?" Vega intoned, her purple eyes gleaming slightly with curiosity.

Anthony blinked, a little surprised. He hadn’t called it a date or tried to put any label on it, just in case, but now Vega had done so herself.

"Yes, I am," Anthony said, his smile returning as he spoke with quiet confidence.

Vega held his gaze for a moment, then replied, "I’ll be expecting your call then. I’m sure, as a Major, you’ll be able to find my contact."

With those parting words, her figure began to rise gently off the ground. She gave Anthony one last captivating smile before shooting into the sky with a thunderous sonic boom.

Anthony stood still, watching her figure disappear into the clouds in a streak of violet light. He couldn’t help the sheepish smile that tugged at the corners of his lips.

For a moment, he remained rooted in place, then slowly started walking again, no destination in mind, just wandering.

His mind was still wrapped around his conversation with Vega. He hadn’t expected it to go so smoothly. They had spoken like long lost friends rather than two people meeting for the first time.

His thoughts wandered, and his eidetic memory replayed their entire conversation frame by frame, word by word.

’Since she loves sugary things... I should probably learn how to bake, right?’

Anthony mused internally, completely tuning out the surroundings. Every soldier he passed along the way was ignored. His thoughts belonged only to Vega now.

He looked up at the sun shining high above and thought, ’Today seems so beautiful.’

Anthony couldn’t be blamed for his unusual behavior. In his previous life, he had never even spoken to a girl with the intention of pursuing a romantic relationship.

His life had been consumed with survival, avoiding death by starvation or worse. He had simply died a virgin, having never known love, companionship, or even a simple flirtation.

But now, here he was, he had just set a date with the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. What man wouldn’t be happy? fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Suddenly, a golden light flashed, and a small figure appeared, settling on top of Anthony’s head as though it were a throne.

With flowing golden hair and glowing golden eyes, Romulus, the Divine Flame, sat proudly.

"You do realize you’re acting like what people in your first life call a ’simp’ right?" he said in a dry tone. Despite his words, Romulus maintained his usual regal aura, as though his very existence denied anything less than majesty.

"How would you even know what a simp is? You haven’t had a single woman in your life."

Anthony responded without missing a beat.

"I’m sure you’ve read enough novels and watched enough anime in your past life to know the signs," Romulus stated smugly, crossing one small leg over the other as he adjusted his sitting posture.

Anthony sighed dramatically. "Romulus, we had something in common until today, we were both maidenless since the very inception of our existence. But now... it’s time for me to spread my wings."

"I am a Divine Flame," Romulus declared with pride. "The very First Flame to ever exist. I came into being even before the first universe was birthed. What woman could possibly match me?"

"Maybe the First Female Divine Flame?"

Anthony replied, smirking knowingly.

Romulus was caught off guard. He hadn’t expected that answer. It took him a moment before he replied, "We exist on two entirely different planes of existence. She could never match me."

"All I hear are excuses, Romulus. Or... are you afraid of being rejected?" Anthony teased, glancing at him with a sideways grin.

"I wasn’t the one who got nervous just because a woman said ’hello,’ to him" Romulus shot back with a grin of his own.

"Ahem," Anthony coughed awkwardly. "I wasn’t nervous. I was merely... carefully choosing my words. Women are complex, beautiful creatures."

Then, in a flash of light, he disappeared, reappearing inside his room. The moment he arrived, he snapped his fingers, sending out a pulse of energy that sealed the room entirely, just in case people like Dale decided to come barging in.

Romulus floated upward and began to glow, golden light surrounding him. His body expanded, and he took on a more humanoid shape, standing at the same height as Anthony.

"What are you doing?"

Romulus asked, his expression filled with curiosity as he watched Anthony pull out an apron and head toward the kitchen.

"I’m trying to learn how to bake," Anthony replied with a serious expression, tying the apron neatly around his waist.

Romulus stood still, confused. "So... because your sign in reward girlfriend likes cakes and sugary things, you’re planning to switch professions? From soldier to baker? You might as well transfer to the Logistics Department once and for all."

"You’re breaking my concentration, Romulus," Anthony said, unfazed, as numerous books on baking appeared on the kitchen table, bought from the system in an instant.

Within a minute, Anthony had read through all of them, every recipe, every technique, every trick.

He then proceeded to buy all the necessary ingredients for baking cookies.

Of course, he could have simply purchased the experience and become a master baker instantly, but he didn’t want that. He wanted to put in the effort. He wanted to learn.

Romulus stared at Anthony in disbelief. He was sure that even ??? would be rendered speechless at this sight.

Who could have imagined that a day would come when Anthony, of all people, would use his monthly spending points to buy flour, eggs, sugar, and baking tools and ingredients.

"Time to use my Limitless Talent to its full potential," Anthony said with complete seriousness as he got to work. His journey as a baker had officially begun.

Romulus didn’t say another word. He stood silently at the side of the room, leaning his back against the wall, arms crossed, golden eyes fixed on Anthony. For now, he would just watch, and wait.
