Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva-Chapter 1602 - 74: Such Is Life
"Welcome to the Sigma Mechanical Council."
On the wide deck, a beautiful woman with flaxen long hair stood, her hands gently folded in front of her, elegantly bowing and then standing back up.
Her arms were wrapped in a knitted shawl, lending her a gentle and serene disposition. Her figure was graceful, embodying the image of an elegant lady.
"Hello, I am Hexia Tilan." Opposite her, Tilan also walked down from the starship's steps to return the greeting.
"It's a long-anticipated meeting, Tilan. I am Xia Lan, currently the on-duty mainframe of the Mechanical Council." The other party introduced herself, lightly pressing her slender fingers to her chest.
Seeing Tilan's slightly surprised expression, Xia Lan extended her hand to guide her and then walked ahead.
"Let's talk as we walk."
A long crimson carpet stretched out before them, flanked by nearly a hundred young girls in knightly ceremonial attire. They wore tilted hats adorned with flowers and feathers, standing with double-handed swords in hand, exuding a sense of retro and vibrant beauty.
"Do you like them?" Xia Lan suddenly asked as she walked ahead.
"I mean these honor guards in modified knightly attire." She turned her head, her light blue eyes looking at Tilan.
"Unlike historical knight's armor, this set they are wearing is designed based on the images from popular Federation games and films, which should match your modern tastes."
Following history, Tilan would surely say this doesn't match reality, but in terms of aesthetics and preference, contemporary Federation residents would certainly like this more. Even in a vast Federation, assembling such a capable honor guard of Sequence 7 young women with such balanced and enchanting figures is a challenging task.
But here at the Mechanical Council, it makes sense. The mechanical bodies here almost always have the appearance of pretty females, their looks and figures flawlessly perfect. However, to differentiate themselves, each adopts a different styling.
As Tilan passed by these knightly young women, her curious gaze lingered on their faces, their expressions, their actions, and more.
Judging from appearances alone, ordinary people could hardly tell the difference between them and real humans. Their faces were subtly modified at creation to avoid monotony, yet their excessive perfection came across as somewhat unreal.
In reality, there would never be an honor guard maintaining sword angles and heights to a micron level, nor would they stand still with unwavering legs like welding rods.
This is perhaps the characteristic of the Mechanical Clan: efficient, consistent, but lacking in diversity.
Looking at it this way, Loloria is indeed a rare exception, being so lively, just like a real girl.
With this in mind, Tilan finally spoke her opinion.
"Very neat and pretty, but in the eyes of normal people, perhaps a bit too uniform."
If the honor guard members were humans, they would seek the neatest formation, but when their movements are indeed identical, there comes a craving for slight variances to bring the sense of life to it.
"It seems that Tilan and I share similar tastes." Xia Lan remarked with a slight smile.
At first, Tilan thought the other party would be a dignified leader like an elegant lady, but now it seems there might be a hint of hidden mischief in her character.
It's unclear if this is Xia Lan's personality, or that of the original songstress, 'Summer Orchid' Feng Xuan's character.
The two walked through a magnificent dark golden glass hall, entering the interior of the starport, where they encountered facilities identical to human society, such as restrooms, lounges, waiting rooms, and dining areas, with staff members awaiting guest arrivals.
The entire starport was clean and orderly yet exceptionally spacious and quiet, as if the entire grand facility and its crowd of service personnel were prepared solely for the arrival of this young maiden today.
"This is the starport designated for external receptions by the Mechanical Council. The style should be quite familiar to you." Xia Lan continued her introduction.
"Are there people working here normally as well?" Tilan asked curiously.
"Yes, normally there are mechanical bodies working and serving here, and their guests for service are likewise characters played by mechanical bodies." Xia Lan explained.
Tilan nodded, feeling a touch of loneliness for these mechanical bodies. But then she pondered, do these mechanical bodies really feel loneliness and boredom, or is today's task simply straightforward?
Soon, the two entered a restaurant within the starport, where a waiter approached with perfectly measured steps, patiently inquiring. If Tilan wasn't aware, it would be challenging to distinguish their behavior and speech from real humans.
"I've ordered, these will be fine." Tilan handed back the menu, watching as the waiter took the paper and walked back, notifying the kitchen.
"This part is different from reality. Currently, in the Federation, once an order is placed, the kitchen is immediately informed." Given the extensive electronic integration.
"We are aware." Xia Lan responded, seated across from her.
"But if we don't try to exude a human-like presence and instead operate with the sheer efficiency of a real mechanical AI, this restaurant we're sitting in wouldn't even exist." She expressed while lightly shaking the water glass.
"What might seem like inefficient behavior can be understood by Tilan as akin to human religious or commemorative activities. It may not be practically useful but serves to fulfill a certain psychological need."
