Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 159: Ruela’s Clarity (I)
However, a noble lady like Ruela was no match against Leah who had been working as a maid her whole life.
Leah snatched the knife first, and then aimed it towards Ruela’s neck.
Ruela held her breath as the tip of the sharp knife was on her skin, it would only take a quick slash for Leah to kill her right now.
"Don’t speak," Leah warned, her eyes were full of malice towards the woman she served for her whole life. "If you dare to make any noise, I won’t hesitate to kill you here, Ruela."
"B-Big Coconut Sister, are you there?" Jojo asked as he continued to hug Sisi tightly. "I-I can’t see. Please protect Sisi from me!"
Ruela glanced towards the boy, and then back to Leah.
"W-what are you doing just now?" Ruela asked in a low voice, making sure not to anger Leah.
"Isn’t it obvious? I want to kill that little brat and his equally troublesome witch mother," Leah replied with a grin full of amusement, especially after seeing the terror in Ruela’s eyes. "You and I should be on the same page here, Ruela. That witch is the one who caused your downfall, you were a revered concubine before Sisi and Jojo came to the palace."
"In fact, you should have an even worse grudge towards them than me," Leah added. She had decided to rope Ruela into her plan. Of course, she wouldn’t allow Ruela to be the queen of the Beast Kingdom.
But if she complied, then Leah wouldn’t mind making Ruela her personal attendant.
Though, it’d be funny to see their position reversed after a lifetime of Leah being in servitude.
"So, why don’t we team up, huh?" Leah proposed. "I’m going to kill that boy and the witch, and then act like I’ve been hit by someone at the door and fainted, so the King wouldn’t blame me."
"All you have to do is either leave and pretend nothing ever happened..." Leah paused. "Or act with me and say that we’ve tried our best to protect the little prince and Mistress, but we can’t do anything against an armed assailant."
Ruela went silent as she kept staring at Leah. She was shocked by how cruel Leah could be, since Ruela always remembered about the girl who grew up with her fondly.
Was this her true nature all along, or was it just her having too great of an ambition?
Leah sensed that Ruela was hesitating, so she finally uttered the final words to truly convince Ruela.
"With that ungrateful brat and the witch out of the picture, the Beast King would be lonely, and you finally have another chance to become the King’s concubine... or even more, his queen!"
Ruela gasped, and Leah was now convinced that her plan had work, and there was no way Ruela could refuse the idea.
All this time, Ruela had always been vying for the queen position. When she was a concubine, Ruela had been telling Leah all her plans once she was crowned, and even promised to make Leah her royal attendant.
But all her plans were destroyed when Sisi and Jojo walked into the Beast Kingdom.
"So, what do you think? If you’re too scared to see what I’m about to do to that little brat and witch, then you’re allowed to leave and go back to your sweeping maid position," Leah suggested. "Don’t worry, I’m true to my word. We’re going to be the only two people who knows about this."
"B-big Coconut Sister, are you there?!" Jojo raised his voice worriedly. "J-Jojo really needs your help! If—if you can, please tell Daddy about us, or tell other guards!"
"The choice is yours, Ruela," Leah said as she waited for Ruela to make her move, but of course still with the tip of the knife on her neck, making sure Leah could make quick work of her if Ruela dared to go against her.
Ruela shifted her gaze towards the crying boy whose tears of melted gold dripped from Sisi’s body down to the wooden floorboard.
She had never liked a kid before.
In her opinion, kids were noisy, annoying, and smelly, especially boys who were very naughty on top smelling absolutely rancid.
Then she shifted her gaze towards the unconscious Sisi.
That woman was the one who caused her downfall, and even worse, Sisi disgraced her even more by turning her into a sweeping maid in the palace.
By all means, this was the perfect chance to kill that woman, so she could have a chance with the Beast King again.
Yes, it was most logical to do that...
But...
Ruela was reminded of how Jojo was wounded after going down the dangerous summit all by himself, and still tried to show a tough smile in front of her.
He was not a brat, far from it in fact.
Jojo was actually cute, and also very obedient to Sisi and his father, which showed that he was a boy with a lot of affection.
So why should she try to hurt an innocent boy?
Then about Sisi...
Yes, she wasn’t the kindest woman Ruela ever met.
She had a sharp tongue, and even sharper gaze that made her feel so small.
Yet, Ruela was thankful that at least she didn’t get kicked out of the palace immediately, because if that happened, then Ruela would be disgraced and forced to kill herself.
And about the Beast King...
Ruela remembered how the Beast King looked down on her when she pleaded not to be thrown away.
There was no trace of love in his eyes. No—not even love—there was zero trace of kindness from him after what she had done at the royal banquet.
Which showed that the king truly didn’t see Ruela as more than just a tool, just like the rest of the beastmen in his palace.
’Is there truly a chance for me to be with the King?’ Ruela asked herself, though she already knew the answer.
