Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 160: Ruela’s Clarity (II)
Based on her observation, the Beast King only showed a hint of affection toward Sisi and Jojo, as if his love had been fully spent on the two of them.
Ruela was not as kind as she looked, but she was kind enough to know that the Beast King would be absolutely crushed if Jojo and Sisi died. And nobody could fill the gaping hole in his heart—not Ruela, and definitely not Leah.
Yes, Ruela knew that Leah had ambitions to climb into the Beast King’s bed. After learning of her ambition, Ruela guessed that Leah would never be satisfied with her position as Mistress Sisi’s personal attendant.
She closed her eyes for a moment before opening them again, then sneered at Leah.
"What makes you think you can be the queen, Leah?"
Leah’s eyes widened as she didn’t expect Ruela to see through her. "W-what?"
"Then I’ll give you my answer—" Ruela took a deep breath and yelled at the top of her lungs, "HEEELLLPPP!!!"
Ruela’s scream was loud enough to alert everyone in the Queen’s courtyard, and it was also enough for Leah to snap and react by slashing Ruela’s throat, ending her scream instantly as blood gushed from the straight line on her neck.
Leah was stunned by her own actions. As she saw Ruela collapse to the ground with blood gushing from her neck, she knew that her life—and her plan to become queen—would ruined if anyone found out about it.
"Fuck, fuck!" Leah cursed as she dropped the knife immediately and rushed outside.
Her ears caught the sound of a group of people rushing toward the main chamber, and she had to put on an act immediately.
Thus, Leah slammed her head against the wall as hard as possible until a realistic wound formed on her head. Then she dropped to the ground lifelessly, acting as if she had been attacked and lost consciousness.
Her eyes might have been closed, but her ears still picked up the approaching noise. There were many beastmen heading toward the main chamber—probably more than ten—and most of them were soldiers, judging by the way their feet trampled the ground.
"By the Goddess, what is happening here?!" Diane rushed toward Leah, who had fainted at the door with a wound on her head. She propped Leah up and slapped her cheek repeatedly. "Wake up! Wake up now and tell me what happened!"
Leah almost spat at the old raccoon who dared to slap her cheeks repeatedly. But she was acting like a victim right now, so she slowly opened her eyes and replied weakly, "H-help... help Mistress... and the Little Prince... an assailant... someone attacked..."
Hearing that, Diane dropped Leah immediately, making her already wounded head hit the ground for a second time. She then rushed into the main chamber, followed by a few guards.
Diane walked in first. When she saw the bloodied Ruela on the ground, she immediately darted her eyes toward Mistress Sisi and the Little Prince, who were hugging each other tightly.
Fortunately, they were unharmed, or at least based on what Diane saw.
"I-is anyone there? Big Coconut Sister, are you still there? P-please call someone! There is an attacker!"
Diane saw that Mistress Sisi wasn’t wearing anything on her upper body, with only the Little Prince hugging her tightly to cover her. So the raccoon maid walked over Ruela and covered the Mistress and the Little Prince with a blanket.
"Come in!" Diane alerted, and three guards walked in with their weapons drawn, ready to attack anyone inside.
One of them immediately asked the head maid when he saw the former concubine on the ground, "Mrs. Diane, what should we do about her?!"
"Save her, of course," Diane replied calmly as she strode back toward Ruela and covered her gaping wound with her palm. "She’s still warm, but she’s lost too much blood. Cover her wound and bring her to the palace doctor."
"Make sure to treat her until she’s fully recovered so we can question her later," Diane added.
"And what about the maid at the door?"
"Oh, just leave that one be. It’s just a minor head wound, I saw it myself," Diane said nonchalantly. "Now go, before that woman dies."
"Yes!"
One guard carried Ruela and rushed her to the palace doctor’s office, while the rest guarded the main chamber as per Diane’s order.
Meanwhile, Leah wasn’t so lucky, because she was forced to lie weakly on the ground for a long time before one guard took pity on her and brought her to the maid’s quarters instead of the doctor.
Diane returned to the Little Prince and saw bruises on his body. The old raccoon didn’t know what had happened or where the Beast King had gone, because he would never allow the Little Prince to be hurt like this.
But Diane was relieved that the injuries were superficial, so they shouldn’t be difficult to treat.
However, what shocked her were the tears of melted gold flowing from the boy’s eyes as he continued hugging Mistress Sisi tightly.
With dozens of questions in her head, Diane knelt beside the bed and asked gently, "My Prince, what happened here?"
"W-who are you? Where is the Big Coconut Sister?" Jojo asked.
"She is... resting, for now, I am Diane, the head maid," Diane replied, knowing that name must have referred to Ruela’s rather large assets. "Was she the one who attacked you?"
Jojo shook his head and relaxed his guard as he remembered this raccoon maid. "There was someone who attacked us first, and Big Coconut Sister came to help us."
"Then... do you know the face of that attacker?"
Jojo shook his head again. "I... I can’t see. So I don’t know what happened," Jojo replied. "But I hugged Sisi tightly, so nobody could hurt her!"
Diane nearly had a heart attack when she heard that.
"H-how could it be—" Diane muttered. "—Where is your father, My Prince? Does he know about your condition?"
