Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 176: A Wake Up Call (I)
The boy felt safe in his father’s embrace, but even his little brain knew that the tension between his father and Sisi must have been really bad right now.
Jojo rested his chin on his father’s shoulder and murmured softly, "Daddy, Sisi is really mad at you. You... you should say sorry. I don’t want Sisi to hate you forever..."
Kael swallowed nervously. The mighty Beast King felt small in front of Sisi, who was obviously pissed at him.
Of course, she would be angry. He had almost defiled her last night and left her with Jojo to hide somewhere. It was his mistake for losing control of himself, and he had nothing to say except sorry.
"I’ll try, Jojo," Kael replied. "But it depends on her."
Kael stared at Sisi and apologized once more. "I’m sorry, Sisi..."
Sisi paused for a moment. Not because she had nothing to say—oh, she had a LOT to say to him right now.
But not in front of Jojo, because whatever came out of her mouth would be foul and inappropriate for the boy.
Kael expected Sisi to scream at him and blast him for whatever had happened yesterday.
But she didn’t.
She simply grabbed her needlework and said, "Since your Daddy’s here, why don’t we take a walk to the pavilion? You should get some fresh air, Jojo."
"Okay! Let’s go!"
The walk from the main building to the pavilion was very awkward and nerve-racking for Kael. The maids and guards were looking at them, but none dared to interrupt—except for Diane, who had been waiting near the pavilion’s entrance.
"Mistress, would you like me to prepare snacks while you’re in the pavilion?" she offered.
"No need, but you should tell everyone—the maids and guards—to empty the pavilion immediately," Sisi ordered. "Don’t worry about safety. The Beast King is here. There’s nobody who could match his strength anyway."
Kael subconsciously puffed his chest proudly when Sisi praised him just now. He usually ignored people’s compliments about his strength, because with that strength came a great deal of suffering he had to face every day.
But with Sisi, he felt nothing but pride.
In fact, he wouldn’t mind parading himself and demonstrating his strength if that could get him more compliments from her.
"Yes, Mistress. I’ll tell everyone now. Please excuse me."
With Diane gone, they went straight to the pavilion.
Once they were inside, Sisi looked around to make sure the pavilion was truly empty.
Because what she was about to do next would put Kael’s pride as the Beast King on the line. Even if she was really angry at him right now, she still didn’t want Jojo’s father to be seen as weak in his own kingdom.
Sisi took Jojo from Kael’s embrace and sat him on a chair. "Jojo, can you sit here for now? Daddy and I will have a little talk."
"A little talk?" Jojo tilted his head curiously. "Can I come too?"
"It’s adult stuff," Sisi said. "Don’t worry, it won’t be long."
Jojo sulked, but he obediently sat and waited for his father and Sisi to return.
"Come with me," Sisi said as she walked out of the pavilion.
Kael followed her obediently. His palms were damp with cold sweat, but he knew he had to face Sisi’s wrath.
In fact, it would be better if Sisi truly snapped at him, so he could try to earn her forgiveness later.
Sisi finally stopped and stood under a tree far enough from the pavilion so Jojo wouldn’t hear their conversation, but not so far that she couldn’t still see him.
She turned around to face Kael, who looked guilty but still said nothing.
Kael thought her silence meant she wanted him to admit his wrong, so he said, "I’m sorry, Sisi. I-I don’t know what happened to me. I—"
Sisi didn’t let Kael finish his sentence. She raised her hand and—
PA!
Kael was stunned when Sisi suddenly slapped him across the face.
Of course, it felt like a brush of a feather to him, but the psychological shock made him freeze.
He stared at Sisi with his crimson eyes, unable to make sense of what she was thinking.
"That’s for everything that happened yesterday, Kael," Sisi said coldly. "I know you were possessed by something yesterday, so I didn’t blame you when you tried to touch me. At least you backed off immediately once you regained your consciousness."
"But what pisses me off is how disgustingly irresponsible you are!"
"...Irresponsible?"
Sisi pointed toward the pavilion where Jojo was sitting. Her chest was heaving as the rage inside her heart made her suffocate.
"Jojo went blind yesterday, and you left him with me—an unconscious woman who couldn’t even protect herself!"
"Do you know how much he suffered yesterday? He got kicked in the hips and back many times by that bitch Leah, and you weren’t there!" Sisi was unable to hold back her tears as she imagined the fear and pain Jojo had suffered. "Do you know how scary it must be for a boy to go blind and desperately try to protect me? Kael—you... how could you leave him alone!?"
Sisi tried to punch Kael in the chest, but after that first slap, her body grew weak, and all she could do was hit his chest feebly.
"Why... why are you so irresponsible as his father?" Sisi asked while sobbing. Her heart continued to ache whenever she imagined the possibility of Jojo getting killed while she wasn’t there to save him. "Why would you leave him with me? If... if you really had to leave, then you should have brought him with you, you idiot!"
Seeing Sisi cry out of distress softened his heart instantly.
If he had to be honest, he had simply thought Jojo was inseparable from Sisi and would throw a huge tantrum if he forced the boy to leave her alone.
So Kael had left Jojo with Sisi, thinking they would be safe as long as they were within the palace walls.
But he was wrong—so wrong that he had almost killed Sisi and Jojo because of his mistake.
And even with all the valid excuses he had, in the end, he was still at fault, because everything that had happened yesterday stemmed from his inability to control the demon inside him.
