Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 227: Ignite the War (VII)
The last thing that Marik wanted was direct involvement until he could slip into the palace again and kidnap Sisi and Jojo.
But since the situation called for it, he had no choice. He scanned his surroundings, and after making sure that nobody was inside this house except the envoy and his men, Marik decided to kick the door open, startling the envoy who got up from his bed instantly.
The envoy looked at the intruder, and his eyes almost popped out of their sockets when he realized that it was the helpless merchant that Crown Prince Ludwig saved and brought here to pinpoint the location of the Beast Kingdom.
He had a lot of questions in mind, but the first thing he asked was, "W-what are you doing here?"
Marik looked down at the human envoy who was shorter than him. Well, most humans were shorter than him. Even Kael was not as tall as him except when he was in his wolf form.
He grabbed the envoy’s neck without saying a word and dragged him to the table where he wrote the letter to the Crown Prince a few hours ago. Then, he threatened the envoy, "Go write a new letter for the Crown Prince. Say that the house has been raided by the beastmen and this might be the last letter you can send to him because you’ll be captured soon."
"W-why should I do that?! What are you scheming here, you bastard!" At this point, the envoy knew that Marik was trying to stir up a conflict between the beastmen and the humans. "Why are you trying to start a war between us when we can just work together in unison? The beastmen in this kingdom are—"
Before the envoy could finish his sentence, Marik dragged him and showed him the corpses of the guards at the door. "Do as I said if you don’t want to end up like them."
The envoy almost pissed himself seeing the two human guards whose heads had been twisted clean off. Their eyes were still wide open, as if their deaths were so quick that they had no time to even scream.
Marik dragged the envoy back to the table and forced him to sit. "Do it now."
The envoy was shaking, but he didn’t touch the quill at all. He looked up at Marik and asked, "Once... once I follow your instruction, then what will happen to me? Will you kill me after that?"
"Yes," Marik didn’t even try to hide it. "But I’ll make it quick and painless. If you still try to resist though, I’ll break your bones one by one and then leave you to die a slow and painful death."
The envoy knew that this bastard wasn’t playing around with his threat. There was a very strong aura of a killer coming from Marik, and though he didn’t know what caused him to suddenly want to ignite a war between humans and the beastmen, the envoy still felt obligated to protect his kingdom.
"I don’t—"
CRACK!
"ARRRGHHH!!"
The envoy’s scream echoed inside the room when Marik suddenly stepped on his foot and crushed his toe with just a little pressure. Luckily, this house was soundproofed, or else Marik would have had to shove a cloth into his mouth to silence him.
The envoy looked at Marik with fear, and the latter simply grinned maliciously. "Now, do you want to write that or should we start by breaking your bones one by one?"
The pain was truly unbearable for a human who had never gone to war before. The envoy was just like the rest of the scholars who never had rough physical training, so their endurance was really lacking.
Unable to bear the pain, the envoy finally picked up the quill, dipped it into the ink, and started writing with his shaky hand.
Marik watched as the envoy wrote exactly as he instructed, but his handwriting was not as sleek as before, which showed that he was in extreme distress.
"Very good. Continue writing like that. I want the Crown Prince to think that you’re under torture while you’re writing the letter."
Well, he was indeed under torture, but not from the beastmen in this kingdom.
The envoy managed to write the letter and then handed it to Marik.
Marik tied it to the pigeon’s leg, and the bird flew away toward the camp. That one letter should be enough to ignite the war between humans and beastmen, as Crown Prince Ludwig would think that his statement about the beastmen’s savagery was true.
Marik turned toward the envoy who tried to get up and leave despite his broken toe. He scoffed seeing such a feeble attempt at escape, so he grabbed the envoy by his collar and yanked him toward the window.
"P-please let me live. I-I’ve done what you said!" the envoy begged. "I-I will try to live somewhere far from Barion Kingdom, so they will think that I’m already dead. How about that?"
"Can’t do," Marik replied calmly, but his eyes were glinting with maliciousness. "You’ve seen my face, so I can’t let you live."
Marik opened the window and looked down. He measured the height and whether falling from this height would be enough to kill this man immediately.
"Hmm... should be enough," Marik muttered. "I promised to give you a painless death, right? Remember to thank the devil in hell because you just caused the downfall of two kingdoms."
"Wha—AHHHH!"
SPLAT!
Marik threw the man as if he were throwing a rock out of the window. The loud scream from the envoy, combined with the audible thump when his body hit the ground, alerted all the beastmen guards around.
Marik watched the corpse with zero remorse. He had always been cruel and calculating to get what he wanted. That envoy was simply an unfortunate soul who happened to cross his path.
"With this, everyone in the Beast Kingdom will be alerted and start blaming each other," Marik muttered. "And that letter should be enough to convince Ludwig to start the war."
