Chapter 73 - SCREEECH!: The Fall Of Durmast (II)

Smoke coming from her face, Cercis could not help but stumble back, her face half burned from the explosion. Reeling in pain, she turned her blue eyes towards where the projectile came from. There, amidst the cloud of dust, stood a small silhouette, flipping a small beaker in its hand.

"YOU! YOU LITTLE BITCH!"

Roaring angrily, Cercis charged straight towards the silhouette, eager to crush the little punk into fine paste. Just before she could, vines erupted from the ground, entangling her into a coil. "Bondage play, eh? Can't imagine someone being this horny in the midst of war..."

Stepping out of the shadows, Duncan manipulated his fingers, twisting the vines into squeezing the 'Rabbitos' into pulp. "Well, if you put it that way, yes, I do indeed have urges, but not in sex. Oh no, it's the urge to beat you assholes into pulp! Why did you lot attack Mithrador anyway, huh!? C'mon, spill!"

Growing more animated by the second, Duncan's expression grew more and more rabid, all the anger he had piled up witnessing the devastation now being unleashed upon the 'mastermind'. Anger clouding his eyes, he marched towards the now limp foe, ready to tortu- interrogate her for information. Just as he was abo-

Swish!

Barely dodging the strike, Duncan parried off the next attack with his staff, which promptly shattered into tiny splinters from the force of the strike. "Tch! If it weren't for the fact that half of my face is blown off by that little bitch, I would've sliced you in half! And you, you little brat! How on Earadun did you manage to make that explosive? I thought all the Goblins' archaic technology was supposed to be lost and destroyed...?"

Despite her incomprehensible mutterings, she did not stop attacking Duncan, while the petite child, revealed to be Goblina, continued lobbying her potions at Cercis. As the beakers flew through the air, Duncan had the privilege of looking through them, and boy was he shocked:

Item: Bone Tenderiser

Tier: 2

Grade: Good

Description: Originally used as a solvent to tenderise meat in tough creatures, some lunatic changed it to tenderise and soften the bones while still inside the body. Originally a mild solvent, its now highly volatile nature has made it very difficult to contain, unless sealed in air-tight containers.

Item: Phosperen Bomb

Tier: 2

Grade: Average

Description: By combining 15 different corrosive materials and flammable substances, a deadly corrosive bomb is created. Highly toxic and corrosive, it can dissolve anything below tier-2, and damage anything at tier-3 greatly.

Item: Goblina's Improved Firebomb

Tier: 2

Grade: Perfect

Description: An improved version, this one can even burn down the defences of tier-5 individuals, albeit briefly. This time, using ultra-concentrated Manatized Kerosin, the resulting flame can reach up to temperatures of 1200°L (Lemen). Even one drop is enough to reduce the toughest of flesh into ash.

Holy shit is that kid insane! What goes on in her head!?

Seeing the barrage of potions splashing all over Cercis, Duncan could not help but pray for the poor woman. Even though she's our enemy, I don't wish for anyone to suffer that badly!

Feeling the acrid stench of burning flesh and melting bones, Duncan turned around, intending to go and check on Goblina, who was tired after lobbing all the beakers upon poor Cercis. Hmmm, thanks to the old man, we-

Fwip!

Blood dripped on the floor, along with the wheezing of an old Dwarf...

"Heh... Well, what'd ya know, my body's still stronger than you, you stupid, *cough* *cough*, Elf..."

His chest pierced, Durmast stood in front of Duncan, holding the bony arm of Cercis in place. Before Duncan's shocked eyes, he used the last remaining energy to twist and rip off the melted arm of Cercis, much to her shock. Reeling in pain, she leapt back, retreating quite a distance away, no longer bound by her arm.

"Tch! Oh well, at least the Dwarf's as good as dead..."

Convulsing slightly in pain, she squinted at her next target, the shell-shocked Goblin.

On the other hand, Duncan lay shocked. Staring at the sight of a heavily bleeding Durmast, Duncan did not know what to do. Just as he was about to rush over, he heard the old Dwarf wheezing through his torn lungs, "Go, *wheeze*... Go and help *wheeze* the little brat..."

Despite his immense grief, Duncan did as he was told.

Biting his lips till they bled, he dashed over to Goblina, who was busy lobbing some of her remaining potions while dodging the furious attacks of Cercis. On the way, he did not forget to check his foe, and what he found shocked him to his core:

What the fuck!?

His blood grew cold, for he finally stumbled upon a terrifying secret:

Cercis was a Demonic Monster

"Could you please help me, and not daydream- shiiiiiiiiiiittttt!"

Barely dodging another strike from Cercis, Goblina managed to grab her leather hat before barely dodging another attack aimed at her face. Without wasting a single second, Duncan unleashed the greatest spell he knew in his arsenal.

"Flora Custodia!"

A large rumble sounded from below them. Before they knew it, a large wooden cage formed around Cercis, trapping her. Seeing her completely bound, Duncan quickly bellowed orders to Goblina. "Quickly, light the damn cage on fire, and roast that ugly old hag into stewed rabbit! Don't stop no matter what happens!"

Without hesitation, Goblina took the last remaining vial of Goblina's Improved Firebomb, and lobbed it straight at the cage. Under Cercis's horrified eyes, the cage sprang into flames, cooking her under the immense heat. "Please let me go, I promise to never come here again! Shit, it's hot, hot! Arseholes, at least grant me a quick death..."

Seeing her being slowly cooked, the duo rushed to Durmast, who was barely conscious.

"Hey, hey! Old man, don't you dare die on me now..."

Panicking, Duncan saw that the old Dwarf was pale in colour. Knowing that it was too late, he still held onto a slim flicker of hope that Durmast would be alright.

Hearing the worried words of Ducan, the old Dwarf managed to open his right eye with great effort. Coughing out blood, he grinned upon seeing the blasted woman getting cooked. "Heh, serves her right, *cough* *cough* *cough*... Kid, I know I don't have much time left. I have a lot of things to say... a lot of things to do... but I know that my time is not enough. There's no need for me to give you advice, for I know that your companions shall be with you always, trying their best to steer you in the correct direction... And little girl, good luck with the block head of a nephew of mine..."

Propping himself up one last time, Durmast looked at Duncan straight in the eyes. "Kid, before I go, please heed this order from me: go and make up with your mother, for she worries about you all the time. Oh, and before I forget, please do me a favour. Tell that long-eared cunt that...I'm sorry for leaving before him..."

With these final words, his hand fell from the battle axe...

Amidst the screaming cries of the once-proclaimed Queen of the Wabbits, Duncan and Goblina bid farewell to the old Dwarf...
